Have no idea on quality nor do I understand half the jargon for specs
But $697 would have to be one of the cheapest 65" TVs on the market

My 34cm (not inch, cm) Akai TV still works. 😎
You probably got it back in the days when they were still made in Japan.
$697 with Amex offer? $100 off. Should be ,$797 right?
You can use 2 amex cards…
$397 with 2 gift cards from aunt Betty, or $197 with 2 rich parents.
Putting $100 on every product at HN above $400 shouldn't be the practice here. If you have the deal on the card it's obvious, for non card holders it's superfluous and for everyone else, there's MasterCard.
*You're.
And no, I wasn't. Heck I even upvoted it!
OK. I take that back :)
Absolutely agree, all the Amex deals should be put together into one post
Or buy 5 tvs for $4485 …-11 AMEX statement credits= $3385
That’s $677 each LOL
Agree but we've had every product hn sell posted here with $100 off per $400 assuming everyone has unlimited Amex cards and took up offer before it was subscribed.
Didn't know Akai we're still in business. Got my first hi fi from them mid 90's.
Akai was on par with the Sony's and Panasonic's of the day, once manufacturing moved outta Japan, everything started going downhill…
These are just re-bags, not even made by Akai
akai famously went into liquidation in the late 2000s.
They're not. It's a generic brand now.
Just another badge in the TEMPO armoury.
I bought one of these using two amex, bringing it down to $697.
I'll pick it up on the weekend and report back.
Update: I needed a big, cheap, reasonable TV and this fits the bill. Colours could be a little crisper, but overall, for $697 (using two amex cards) I'm pretty happy with it. The remote is low end… with a keyboard on the back??! but it's surprisingly useful.
Also be warned that this TV is advertised as having Android TV however it is in fact running Android 4.4.4
That's because it's an Akai
