What is the best one out there? Previously I copied the url and used an external site but want something more streamlined.
Chrome Extension for Downloading YouTube Videos?

4k seems to be the best solution. Although I was looking for something more streamlined. Not having to copy the url of each video. Also with the subscription side is not free. I guess I wanted an extension for chrome because I was ideally after an overlay > 1-click solution with drop down for quality settings. Can't have everything in life I guess, although I remember firefox having such an extension a few years back but not willing to go back to FF at this time.
Maxthon Browser has one inbuilt. You can DL any video from any site.
Just installed it based on your recommendation, is it resource sniffer? Didn't give me any quality selections and not being a one click solution + second browser makes it not what I'm looking for unless I'm missing something.
Select your desired YouTube resolution quality, then click Download.
When watching the YouTube video you can put 'conv' after the www. in the url.
For example, if you are watching https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABC then change the url to https://www.convyoutube.com/watch?v=ABC
and hit enterNice tip but seems to be the same amount of steps as copy+paste into external site.
Video DownloadHelper
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/video-downloadhelp…Hasn't been working on Youtube for ages.
I use this on Firefox, here's the link to the Chrome version.

Video DownloadHelper works perfectly on Firefox - but not on Chrome!
I also use 1 click youtube video downloader - but this isn't available for Chrome.
Two reasons to stick with Firefox!
They're forced to remove it from the chrome version otherwise it won't be published on the chrome webstore
Google owns Chrome and YouTube, so makes sense really.
Although they may have a side-loadable version on their website possibly?
JDownloader downloads everything and it's open source.
Can second this one. If it can be downloaded then jdownloader can download it (apart from some image galleries e.g. Instagram. I use Bulk image downloader for that, between those 2 programs I've never come across anything I couldn't download).
They do have an extension to link into chrome and it has functionality to just listen to your clipboard.
Are any 1080p or higher?
Maxthon Browser
Internet download manager
Agree. IDM is the best. Updated integrations everytime YouTube change "stuff".
Simple quality selection.
Downloaded to whatever folder you choose.
Cost money?
Yes. But updates are free.
And don't forget that Google owns both Chrome and YouTube.
They can't make money out of content sitting on your computer.
If you are comfortable with command line please take a look at https://rg3.github.io/youtube-dl/
Use it together with axel to enter download utopia
Sample usage
youtube-dl --external-downloader axel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kgaO45SyaO4
Cheers for the tip - here's a GUI with all the required exe's for Windows:

Very easy to download the highest quality and automatically mux audio.
I use this and it is fast and works a treat, you download the vid without loading anything else as it adds a download button to the screen

javascript:(function(d){d.PwnBkmkVer=3;d.body.appendChild(d.createElement('script')).src='https://deturl.com/ld.asp?'+1*new Date;})(document);
I use KeepVid on desktop chrome. I've used it about 3 years; no complaints.
Don't know of any chrome extensions, but I use 4K Video Downloader Wikipedia, it's free to use unless you want to automatically download more than 25 videos in a playlist then you'll need to buy a key, other than that there's no difference between the paid and free versions.
Damnvid used to be excellent but it is now no longer supported, so it's blocked by YouTube.
