Who Maintains a Repossessed House

Recently our neighbors house was repossessed by the keystart loans and the property has been overrun by mice and the gardens are now a fire hazard.
The owners before never maintained the gardens and the grass is now around 4 to 5 foot tall and starting to dry out and make it a fire hazard.
I have mowed the dead dry grass out the front to keep the risk down but the back yard is like a jungle.

So does keystart now have to maintain the property as they are now the owner?

Maybe call the council to tell them. They should get the current owners to do (at least) the garden maintenance

The previous owners are in jail.
keystart now are the property owners, surely being a fire hazard its keystarts responsibility now to maintain the property in a safe way

+1 to calling the council. They'll tell you what they can enforce and what your options are

Council, they are responsible for inspection of local fire hazards under the Bush fires act in western australia… section 33.1 of the act specifies the firebreaks or clearing of blocks etc.

Call council - I recall a family friend purchased a block of land next to an existing house, and the grass was over grown. However in the process of finalising construction contracts with the builder, they thought stuff maintaining it eventually the excavator will come through and clear it. However they received contact from council threatening fines and additional fees and charges for every week that block was not maintained - as a neighbour or person in the street had complained.

Why not buy the place - will probably be really cheap plus if you lease it out you get to pick your neighbours, and kick them out if they get too annoying!!!
And if it isn't leased by Christmas time you can have your family over and put them in there, and keep your nice peaceful house to yourself….
