Might be ok for kicking around but obviously be aware about 4k video, 16mp stills etc are all false. Everything will be interpolated.

    • I have a similar one (there are lots that are all the same). It does pretty good at 1080. Night time it isn't great (as you'd expect I guess).

You're right about the resolution though, the image sensor in these is not actually capable of 4k recording, it maxes out at about 3k.

Edit: you can get them much cheaper than this as well: https://www.gearbest.com/4k-action-camera-_gear/?odr=low2hig…

  • Two questions:

    1. Does it have a flash?

    2. Assuming that the '16 MP' is actually false/derived via interpolation, is it safe to assume that the actual 'true' MP the sensor is capable of is only half of that, i.e. 8 MP? Because most new phones these days exceed 8 MP, rendering this thing basically redundant. Re the 'waterproof case', I just returned from an OS trip during which I went snorkeling frequently. To make by mobile 'waterproof' I bought one of those thin little clear plastic 'pouches'/'pockets' with a dual seal-type mechanism on the top, and two clips. It cost less than $3 AUD, and it worked brilliantly, for more than 2 hours of snorkeling time. It still appears to be as good as new, that little pouch. I highly recommend them.

  • The videos filmed by this camera. Maybe you can check the parameters and video real effect. Thanks!

  • As has been said, it's not really 4K. General rule of thumb I go by, is if it can't do 1080 @ 120fps, then it can't do 4K at 30fps.
Still, these things are okay at 1080p, if you're wanting something you don't care too much about breaking or dropping to the bottom of the ocean.

    • They actually float in their waterproof housing.
