    • my quick google skills did not find one that was close to this price. Do tell!

I'd be interested to know this to as I bought one, went hn in my break and decided this one has by far the strongest basket of 4 I looked at (hisence, Lemaire, this and haier).

I've not seen one cheaper in 2 months of looking? In any case I need it to store the 5kg salmon ect in the work freezer.

        My Google search returned $299-$329

Neg? Why? Just reporting my results. YMMV.

          most likely a different model

Without evidence supporting your assertions it's all just hot air to me bro…

        • That'll be 140l

        • @Slippery Fish:

          Sorry. Was 140l.my bad.

        • @tightwad: that's ok, I knew that was the prices for the 140, so as soon as you said the prices I knew.

I'd rather you say it just incase :) we want the best deal after all! On a side note I got em to throw in the warranty to make it 400 and used amex 100 off so I paid 300 at hn with 6 year warranty. Winning.

        • @Slippery Fish:

No worries. We're all trying to work together. Most of us, anyway ๐Ÿ˜Š

When ever i see these storage freezers I can't help but think what is the running cost of them

    • 88 a year according to appliances online.

    • +6

Varies, but not as much as you think. The better ones consume as low as 250kWh a year. At an average price of 25c a kWh, thats only $65 a year, or 75c a day. Out of all the recurring expenses in peoples lives, food is pretty close to the top, so its easy enough to save 75c a day with a few lifestyle adjustments.

      • +2

Thanks for looking up the kWh of good units, but I think your maths is a bit wonky. $65 / 365 = 0.178, or 17.8 cents per day.

        • Or just $65รท365days.

        • -1

@tryagain: but then it's dollars per day ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”

        • +2

@theguyrules: True, but I think if you don't know what $0.178… is then the information would be fairly useless to you anyway.

Chest freezers always remind me of horror films

    • it's pretty accurate to say that a 95 kg person has a volume of 95 liters. It's probably accurate within 5% or so. Actually, the density of the human body is very close to that of water—that's why most of us (depending on fat content) sink when we exhale and float when we inhale.

      • So, are you saying to cut the person up before stuffing them in this freezer?

        • No, definitely not

I'm just thinking of an epic way to cool down in summer :)

  • +1

"holding crap you place on top" haha too true

+vote for description alone, good deal as well

  • Interesting frogs, fish are documented from coming back alive after freezing and a girl from the US managed to survive from freezing too Jean Hillard

Now all we need is an igloo and snowman for our christmas + snow ball fight!

Why would you buy a 46 year old freezer?

  • +1

I don't know how relevant this is, but for something like a chest freezer I would almost exclusively check out what's available on Gumtree before buying new. In most cases these things go for years and you're paying under half RRP. Hell, if you're in Brisbane this very model is available brand new for $300.

    • Facebook forums are full of them for sale.

How many Dr. Oetker pizza's can this hold?

    • Entire woolies shelf of them at 50% off time

    • i got 9 backup in my tiny freezer/fridge with this….I can store a year's supply

  • cannot find anywhere in stock for C&C, and postage is 50+. err.

    • You should be able to get hn to price match, it's simple. Go in ask about it, walk outside stand round for 3 min and ring the store, say you were so happy with the service you want to give them first bite before you place the order. in the rush they will just agree to match (to continue the good service)

If they can use tactics why can't we? Just be complimentary.
