Appears to be the cheapest standalone PS4 you can buy online with local warranty.

Out of stock. Tempting still. I forgot that the PS4 came out in 2013, that'll make it a five year old console next year. It probably should be less than $300 for a new one about now considering how old the tech is.
PlayStation 4 as a gaming platform may be that old, but the Slim/Pro console as hardware is still fairly new considering it was released at the end of last year.
Isn't the Slim just the same as the original PS4, just a lot slimmer and uses a lot less power?
Correct, but that's still better than buying 5 year old tech.
If it runs quieter then that's a big improvement. I hate consoles that sound like little jet engines while under stress.
Hopefully its price really drops below 300, but recent sale figures show it is doing extremely well (so less reasons for sony to drop the price)
Agree. Compared to Xbox, we are still paying a premium for the PS4, but it is the more popular console.
I think Xbox is slowly catching up (in regards to online players)
That’s only because you have to pay to play online with both of them now, only reason I never got a ps4
That and Xbox console sales have been very high with their recent pricing
In stock if you use this link.
https://www.bigw.com.au/product/sony-playstation-4-500gb-sli…why would anyone pay $299 for some 500gb non-pro piece of junk. it should be 1TB minimum (even thats a joke), and a game or two for $299… pro should be the same for $399
Why are you so angry?
im looking at a ps4 and ps4pro right now, im not angry at all. just this is not a deal, its a pisstake.
You seem upset, but this is the cheapest it has been in a while, so you're wrong.
I'd get it. But that's because I already have a Pro and I just want another one for the bedroom. The living room is cold and dark at night.
Or you could just buy a lamp and blanket and save yourself a few hundred bucks in true Ozbargain style.
@arkanis50: But only if said lamp and blanket are on special.
500GB is not enough, cost you $50-150 to upgrade the hdd, $60-70 for a second controller etc.
$299 is basically the incoming RRP, not a deal. which i am stating the obvious here; for the 5 year old base model, no bonusses, is still overpriced..
and the 500gb slim has been sub $300 several times in the last few months. looked for 2seconds: $259 on sale, $319 with second controller https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/307200
with $300 you'd be better off getting a newish one second hand with second controller and half a dozen games most likely.

I disagree, I have a 1TB hard drive in my Pro console and have only used under 100GB as I only play 2-3 games at any one time.
So while 500GB might not be enough for some, and while it is more than enough for me, it's plenty for most.

Incorrect, the last time it was ~$300 was back in June, and even though Christmas is quickly incoming, this price is the cheapest it currently is, because you know, we live in the present.

Again, I wholeheartedly disagree, brand new with warranty is a no-brainer, plus games can be found very cheap second hand.
@arkanis50: A true Ozbargainer buys things he/she deems a worthy purchase, no matter how frivolous it may be. Rule 58.
But you're right. What I should do is get a Vita TV, now that it fully supports the PS4.
Must have been a pricing error, when I click on the link, it now shows $399 and in stock….
yeah, it is an error, just called them…
Already sold out online, hopefully plenty instore
