Hi everybody,

My other half is an early childhood educator so i worked out a deal with the homies at Gearbest for this Montessori Math kit.
Smart guy Andrgram didn't pass English class so he misread the disclaimer and tried to order 3 sets in separate orders but the code is only valid ONCE and you can order up to 5 qty.

Limted to first 50 stock ,5 units per time,1 times per account,AU,NZ only!

Edit: 28/10
50 more were added to this deal earlier today…I messaged those who missed out first to give them a headstart. Rest are a free-for-all

  • how does it work? I thought it was those coloured maths rods us dinosaurs had at school, but they're all the same size

  • What kind of paint is on the rods?

    • -1

water-based non-toxic paint would be my guess…being a kids toy

I wouldn't be too sure with Chinese products. Quality control there isn't as strict as ours.

      lead mixed with baby formula

    Thanks got one.

How much would it cost if I bought 3? Ran out of fingers

  • I'm getting "this coupon has reached its usage limit".

    • I'll see if i can get more added

    • Hey 50 more have been added under andrgram code. Let me know when you have purchased one before I update the forum. I'm trying to give the people who missed out first dibs.

  • How are you supposed to use these for multiplication or division? You put the sets of sticks at right angles and count intersections? (for multiplication)

    • As a guess… 3x3 would be three sticks in three piles, then count them all.

Division would be similar, ie 10 / 2…. 10 sticks, dividing them all into two's, then counting the number of equal piles you have.

Coming from a guy old enough to not grow up with calculators, and considering one of those casio calculator watches like the best thing ever when first seen :).

      • I was planning on marking the rods with a logarithmic scale and teaching the kids to use them like a slide rule. Then multiplication and division become really easy.

Keep it simple for younger ones mate. They understand easy visuals. 3 piles of sticks (each a different colour) makes it very easy for them to see how many divisions there are in a group of say 10 sticks.

If a kid understands the concept of logarithmic scale and slide rulers, then this kit is too easy for them.
I reckon an abacus would be better if you are trying to teach a young child concepts of "halves, quarters, thirds" etc.

By the pictures provided above, looks like there's enough individual rods to cater to basic bath.
Like mentioned above, if you're getting into larger multiplication (up to say the 12x12 maths table we all used to be taught), then again, this set wouldn't be appropriate.

I have a 7yo (grade 1). They haven't even started any multiplication or division… and this type of visual set would actually assist greatly. I've been doing it with coloured pencils at home (just touching on how 10 pencils can break down in 2's or 5's etc).
This set would be perfect for around this age in my opinion.

Just waiting for an active code! :)
