  • Does it include installation?

    • I seriously doubt it! You might want to add about the same again for install, since AC installers have joined plumbers in the ranks of overpriced tradies nowadays!

  • York seems not a popular air-con brand.

    • They are the largest brand in the USA and make systems for residential, commercial and industry.

  • $750 for a no name brand that size doesn't seem cheap to me. No mention of it being an inverter model either.

  • looking at the specifications, the highest energy rating is only a 2 star from a possible 5 star?

  • York is a worldwide brand and the unit comes with 5 years parts and labour warranaty for resdential applications bearing that in mind you will find that it is a very good quality product

  • Anyone know the ballpark install costs for these? $100? 1000?

    • Dunno about other areas, but in the Newcastle area you won't get much change outta $600+ for a very basic install job! The prices go up very sharply with any complexity too, any incline or elevation whatsoever & the mercenary bastards bust out their calculator!!!

  • +1

Yes, very overpriced installation on these (for the simple job it is). If the government wanted to really make a dent in the greenhouse gas emissions it would subside the installation of these - or at least have a controlled realistic price for it.

    • Subsidise the installation of air conditioners to reduce greenhouse gas emissions? Wut?

      • Not for the cooling part, but the heating (I'm in Tasmania).

        • Ah right. Well that makes a touch more sense then if it's for the heating aspect :)

Here in Australia air con's on hot hot hot summer days are causing problems with the electricity grid. Too many houses with air con now + pathetic electricity networks = blackouts.

your probably looking at 300 dollars to install these units

    • Dude, send your $300 man to the Newcastle area; I'll get him to do half a dozen for me! :p

Jokes aside, just so we're clear on this, that figure is utter bullshit! :(

    • +1

You just lost all credibility. There is no way anyone other than a mate in the business will install (even the simplest install) for anywhere near that figure. It would be at least double, if not more for the most basic type of install.
