    bring back the airpods :(

    • Curious question - what's all the hype about for airpods? Are they the classic apple earphones but wireless?

      • +1

        Yes.

      • +2

Never liked the EarPods (wired Apple earbuds) but I decided to buy some AirPods from Apple due to their return policy.

They rock. The sound isn’t amazing by any means compared to IEM’s but it is decent enough to make me want to use them. The portability (fits into that tiny coin pocket on your jeans), and the wireless are just awesome. So much so I’m going to sell my QC35’s and give up on my wired IEM’s.

And these are fantastic for running too.

Just try them in person, 100% recommended.

        • +3

Wow thats a big recommendation. I never really liked the sound quality of the original apple earphones enough to pay 100-200. Also I must have strange shaped ears - apple earphones always fall out.

        • Sold my QC35 as well in favour of AirPods. The only thing is using them on planes kinda suck, but I have some ciems as part of being a musician so I'm not too fussed

      • +1

Curious question - what's all the hype about for airpods?

They shape your ears the way that any other earphones are actually comfortable after them.

  • If you want the iPad but don't need cellular they start at $599 before 20% off: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Apple-iPad-Wi-Fi-128GB-Gold-/…

I just grabbed a ipad pro, tried to get officeworks to beat it by 5% but no go due to Myer needing a discount code. I can live with that price. :)

Thanks for posting the link! I have a quick question.

I purchased the 256gb no touchbar MBP. I've realised that I can claim back the GST on this when I return to the UK in a few weeks time.

However, I had the MBP delivered to an address with my professional name as the recipient. This is different to my legal name.

Now, my PayPal has my legal name on it. But I'm wondering if I will be rejected for the GST claim because the delivery recipient name does not match my legal name.

Just phoned Myer but they refused to change my details. Any ideas??

    Thanks!

    • +1

Better to cancel the purchase and then order a new one with correct details?

There's a a good chance that they will reject the GST claim if the name won't match.

      • +1

They will probably reject. Has to be the same namd and has to have ABN on it and look like a tax invoice.

Also, another time, I put the delivery address as a work address with the business name on it and they said I couldn't claim because of that. If you can avoid it, don't put the business name on the delivery address.

You can always buy another and return the first one directly to a Myer store.

        • Is it possible to claim TRS refund if you are an Australian resident? Do you have to have a passport from overseas?

          Thanks.

        • +1

@azm: I am an Australian citizen and have claimed TRS before.

        • @shagaroo: Thanks m8

    • Hey, have you received any confirmation from Myer? I just call them and they said my order (at 10:30AM yesterday) was in backorder now, they have no stock, maybe cancel and refund, WTH?

      • I received the shipping confirmation from Ebay today, although nothing from Myer, and no tax invoice yet.

When I spoke to customer service yesterday they said there were only 2 256gb no touchbar macs in stock, so there was a chance I wouldn't get it.

Looking fairly promising for me at the moment but I'm not sure. Not on for them to do this though. Very disappointing. Good luck.

        • mate, when did you order?

        • @highlandtran: I ordered at about 10:40 the morning of the 24th. And it arrived today.

        • -1

Did you receive your tax invoice? I got mine too but not tax invoice, contacted them and they hesitate to send me one! what should I do?

        • +1

          @lilly353:

I haven't received one yet, and I've even been in contact about changing the details on it. Myer's customer service has been absolutely terrible, and still aren't responding even when ebay themselves have gotten involved.

I'm just going to keep going with contact.

        • @allactionnoplot: Same, and I agree that Myer's customer service team is terrible! :(

      • Nothing from Myer so far. I made my purchase on Tuesday night….hope they don't cancel my order….

      • They cancelled my order already, WTF? I ordered on Tuesday 10:20AM, 20m after the sale?

        • I received my shipping confirmation email this morning I ordered 13" MBP 128gb at 10.16am on the sale day

        • @kennyzzz: I'm praying mine will be shipped soon…I can't bear for my order to be cancelled. It will be a total bummer.

  • So regret that I bought the 2016 version in June this year :(
What a great price for Macbook pro!!

    can u claim GST?

    • Yes.

  • they are i5, not i7?

  • can someone told me which one is better compared to both: Dell www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dell-XPS-15-7th-Gen-i7-7700HQ-Qauad-Core…

    Mac http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Apple-MacBook-Pro-13-inch-256…

Price are same, but huge different specifications , thanks

    • +1

it's like comparing Ferrari and Corolla with Louis Vuitton badge.

      • +1

But guess what? the Corolla is efficient, works well and does the job.

    • I'd say the huge difference is that one is a Windows laptop and the other runs macOS. Do you need a specific OS?

      • understand they are completelt different OS, but curious …. eg which one will work better in terms of photo/video editing, thats what after as never use apple product before…

        • +5

          luckylast

You will always get more value for money (Greatly increased specifications/power compared to cost) when choosing Windows products over Apple products. If you have not used Apple products before, there is no real need to spend a lot more money for a lower powered machine. If you are a user (or employee) who has used frequently, or their office uses frequently other Apple products than it would be easier to continue using them.

Considering this is a bargain website, i've never seen one bargain for these Macbooks in my life. Objectively they cost more and are less powerful to other options available, there are cheaper Windows based laptops that share a similar size/weight to the Apple products.

If you want to save money or get a bargain (on OzBargains) I would suggest the many other Dell/Asus/Acer lightweight notebook options available, if you are indifferent about the operating system.

          Hope this helps.
          Cheers.

        • If you have no preference for MacOS, the XPS15 will easily beat the Macbook Pro in photo/video, since it has a quad core i7 and discrete graphics card, versus the dual core i5 in the Macbook

With the Macbook you're paying for the OS, better build quality and the much nicer screen

        • @Wolf: thanks for the information. Will continue do my search, as nowadays, the latopts arent cheap at all. ..

        • @randymarsh: thanks, i agree the mac has better screen compared to others, that's only thing i noticed so far

        • @randymarsh:
but doesn't MacBook work much more efficient, so with i5 and half ram, should be faster than i7 on windows machine

        • @Wolf: +1 for the constructive feedback.

        • @bonbon: really?

        • @bonbon:

MacOS is definitely more optimised, but when you're comparing it to a Windows PC with a fast SSD like the XPS 15, there wouldn't be any difference in normal day to day use.

But with video editing, if you were using the same software on both laptops (e.g. Premier Pro), the XPS 15 would easily win out simply because it has the much better processor, theres really no way around that.

So if I had no preference towards an operating system and was simply going for performance, than the XPS 15 is the much better choice.
That said, if I was already used to the MacOS experience and preferred Apple software I would pick the Macbook no doubt.

        • @bonbon: sarcasm I detect

        • @Wolf:

You forgot resale value or TCO which is consistently higher for Macs if you intend to sell after 4-5 years.

    • +3

when time comes to upgrade, the mac will have the better resell value.

      • +1

I actually considered this just before buying the new 15". My current macbook 13" retina (late 2012)… has almost the same specs as the new base level non touchbar 13", eg i5 2.5GHz, 8gb RAM, 128gb SSD. Completed listings have sold on ebay for 500-900 used…

  • Funny how they don't specify RAM anywhere!

    • 13" MBP will have 8GB, 15" 16GB

  • -1

They jacked up mbp 256 by 100 bucks.. Oh well, I guess I'm waiting for the next deal then.

    • I don't think 20% off Aussie stock is that bad, especially for 13.3 MacBook Pro. Unless you want 15.4 inch, this deal is great.

    • +1

I wouldn't call them jacking up price, it's just back to to normal rrp. Jacked up price would mean they are selling above rrp.

      • -1

they increase above their normal rrp, just because after you apply the code bring it back down doesn't mean it's not jacking up the price, am not sure why I'm getting negged because they did jacked up by 100 bucks.

  • Any iPods?

    • No iPods, I don't remember seeing iPods before on Myer eBay store.

      • Thanks hamza

    I am getting following error;

This code can't be applied to your order.

    • +1

Me too "This code can't be applied to your order."

      • Looks like they have sold out.

I tried to both Ipad and MBP same no luck.

        • It seems that the code has stopped working temporarily, it's not applying to any items Apple or non apple.

        • +1

          its back and working

    • Same here :(

  • +2

The code is working again! Just got a MBP 15"

  • Pulled the trigger and picked up the Pro 13 256gb, thanks Ozb… making me spend my money one deal at a time!

  • Any of the highest specs Mac books 13”?

  • Thanks. Bought one MBP and Ipad.

  • I am trying to order a 13"Macbook Pro. The code is not working..:-(

      Working okay here.

Have you got an Australian registered PayPal account and does your PayPal and eBay email address match? That's the most common issue with these eBay deals. Make sure your main postal address on PayPal is Australian.

You can live chat with eBay if that doesn't solve it.

      • Thanks Hamza23.

I have Australian registered PayPal account, will have to check the PayPal and eBay email address are matching or not. Will check once again.

        • Also make sure your eBay default address is Australia. Just read this

  • Anyone getting the 2017 Macbook Air? I've got the old 2011 version. Thinking of giving my current MBA to my father and buying myself the 2017 MBA…..

    • +2

Don't know much about Apple, but I notice there is never much interest in MacBook Air when these deals come around. MacBook Pro's will sell 100s and MacBook Air's just a few.

I think the general consensus is that you are better paying $300 or so more to get the 128GB Pro, doesn't mean that is the case for everyone but that seems to be the case for many. Also we've seen slightly lower prices for the Air's (low to mid $1100s), opposed to the Pro's which are pretty much as cheap as they get.

      • I am keen on switching to the 128GB Pro for the retina display as I use my laptop to mainly stream movies. However, the lack of regular USB ports makes me hesitate….I will have to dig deep and make a decision soon. Thanks for your response Hamza.

      • +2

A few years ago I got an MBA and I still love it for its portability and increased utility over an iPad - however, I read from last night's original posted Myer deal - someone mentioned that the new MBP is really thin so they're both heaps portable :)

        2017 MBP Thickness: 1.49 cm (0.59 inch)
2017 MBA Thickness: 1.7cm (0.68 inch) at the thickest part (0.11 inch at the thinnest part)

    • +1

A quick update: I have bitten the bullet and purchased the 128GB Pro…..my heart is still racing from making the online purchase.
I can't wait for it to arrive in the post. Hopefully the data migration from my old MBA to my new Pro will be painless.
Thanks, hamza and chemistry for your replies. Have a good night everyone!

  • $80 more expensive for the 256GB MBP without touchpad, but still a good deal!

  • If buying 8gb ram version, can it be late updated to 16G or higher?

    • No, it's soldered on.

  • In my honest opinion, if you dont need it urgently wait for the next refresh. They will use the 8th gen intel processors so you'll get quad cores on even the base MBP 13 which will arguably make them somewhat worth the price

    • I actually waited a year to get this Kaby Lake 15". 13" is never big enuf for me.

The problem with tech or car is there will always be a better version next year. Playing the waiting game would take forever.

And as a Mac user I've never really needed a new Mac, I just want a new one every 3 years and wait for a good deal to grab one. My 3 years old Mac is still running great, but if I sell it now I'll get more $$$ than I would a year later.

      • Yeah I would usually agree with you but the performance difference between previous Intel generations have been a meh 10-15% at best. Now that they have some competition from AMD they've had to step up their game.

8th Gen processors provide ~ 40% jump in performance compared to 7th gen in the u series line(multi-core i presume) while having the same TDP which is quite significant. Even the i5 8th gens benchmark close to the i7 7700HQ which is used in the 2017 MBP 15" (however they cant maintain this level of power for a long time due to the low tdp but it shows the improvement in performance)

Received shipping notification and tax invoice for my MacBook Pro 13” 256Gb non touch bar this afternoon. Aus Post showing estimated delivery of tomorrow, I’m in MEL. My purchase time was 10.01.01 hence only just after the sale started if that helps anyone.

    • +1

Delivered just now! Thanks Myer, what a ripper price!

      • How come you got it so quick? did you paid for the express delivery?

        • Nope, just the regular free shipping. I'm in MEL and their distribution centre is in MEL. I only received it a day earlier than the delivery by date when I purchased it.

    • Does the Tax Invoice show the full eBay price? Or the discoutned price after the 20%?

      • +2

        Full eBay price.

  • stupid question, but Air 2 is better than a 2017 Ipad?

  • Bought a 64GB 10.5" Space Gray iPad. Will work out pretty cheap with TRS :D

I was tossing up between the silver and space gray, but there's been double the amount of space grays sold than the gold and silver, so I'm assuming it will have a better resale value when I upgrade in a couple of years.

  • I wonder if they will eventually list 27” inch iMac!
