    Nice post OP.
I can recommend - had this machine for over a year through the same deal last year, no drama. Easy to clean. Makes decent pod coffee when in a pinch or a hurry as intended. Less capsule variety than others, obviously, but they're always on special at Coles or Woolies, even Harris Farm sometimes. The Organic and Mountain Grown varieties taste best to me and are worth the extra few cents.

  • +1

Ugh this is a good deal, but idk if i want to get hooked onto coffee again

    • +29

That's not the answer we are looking for.

" Thanks OP got 3, don't know what I'm going to do with them now" is acceptable

      • what capsules did u end up getting with this deal?

  • I've tried all the different varieties from Vittoria - all are very very weak. Probably need to use at least two pods per coffee. Given the price is so cheap it's probably still an ok deal.

  • +16

    I'm a simple man, I see 6 X 12 espresso packs + coffee machine for $27, I upvote.
    Great deal.

  • Just called a couple of stores in my area (Wollongong) and this deal is not on ATM :(

  • +9

Are you sure the Chicco D'oro capsules are eligible for this deal? The picture says Vittoria only. Cheapest Vittoria is Espressotoria Vittoria Coffee Italian Coffee Capsules 12pk coming in at a $6.99 a box ($41.94 for 6)

    • Can anyone confirm if this is correct or not? Has anyone purchased the Chicco D'oro capsules and this deal this time around?

      • +1

Correct. Unless you have a worker who doesn't know or doesn't care what they're doing, scanning six of the $4.50 pods won't bring up the offer and staff aren't likely to budge.

        • Thanks. Like I thought too. Have you tried yourself? Or just using your common sense here?

      • +1

This is correct, however the 'italian' pods will be treated as if they were $8.40 when applying the discount.
ie. the machine will not be +$99 then -$99, it will be +$99 then -$90.

Its worth grabbing the other blends with it, OR arguing that the italian should be treated as $6.99, however comments suggest that many stores don't have advertising for it yet, meaning you'd be hard pressed saying its false advertising - if there isn't any.

        Cheers

        • +1

I went and got one just now, and they could not use the chicco-d-oro to apply the discount.

  • well worth it at either the $27 or $42 price tag for the 6 boxes of capsules.
I am on my third machine now (sold/gave away 2 machines in the past).
    May be time for a 4th machine…

    • -1

You're the reason deals like this go away

      • +2

And also why they come back…

        • +1

          where do you blame ozbargain?

  • Is it possible to validate this deal if I purchase online? Or is this an instore thing

    • seems to be in store. didnt work online.

  • +3

Even if your not a coffee drinker these pod machine make good kettles for making tea. They heat water on the fly, so you're not waiting for water to boil or wasting energy boiling extra water you won't use.

The water only comes out at 60c or something, but this can be altered relatively easy if you know how to solder.

    • What do you need to solder to get higher temperature?

      • +25

You hold the hot soldering iron under the flow of water, thus raising the temperature

      • +3

So here's my unit upside down with the bottom panel off

        You solder a resistor here
        and a close up

        • +1

Is that last stripe on the resistor Gold? So it goes, orange, orange, red gold?

        • +2

          @seedy:

Yeah. The last band is tolerance. I think gold is 10% from memory, so its -+10% of the rated value. I attached a potentiometer, and starting high lowered it until the temperature was what I wanted. I used one of these to measure

    • +2

Are you sure it only comes out at 60 degrees? Hot water in the tank is 60 degrees, this has to be higher than that

      • +2

I agree, coffee is generally brewed at >90 degrees so it sounds very low

      • +3

Measured it, pretty sure it was around that. In any case, definitely too low to make tea with

  • I've had this coffee maker twice, both of them didn't last a little more than a year. Still a no brainer given that it's free - just something to keep in mind.

  • +8

Cool, disposable coffee machines. I love 2017.

  • +1

Have 2 of these. Initially bought one for $50, and 2nd one on similar free machine deal. Does the trick, but as mentioned, coffee is weak. Free machine with capsules is great.

  • +1

Have tried the chicco and other pods in this range. Not keen on the cheaper ones. Go with the gold oro, or black mountain grown varieties. Fresher and stronger.

  • Anyone know if it is compatible with caffitaly pods?

    • +1

No they're a different size. I have a caffiltaly/map machine from a previous deal and they're the same physical size as the aldi ones, but not these.
For the price, as the little Mexican girl says, "why don't we have both? "

      • +1

        "Por que no los dos"?

    • Then you return the pods for a refund.

  • +7

Great for generating additional landfill with all the pod waste :(

    • +8

And machine waste given that they are so cheap as to almost be disposable.

I started out with a Nespresso and then felt guilty about all of the pod waste. I found a second hand Jura Impressa S9 on gumtree for $400 and had to buy a couple of replacement parts for it so it ended up costing me around $600 (~$1800 when it was new). The Jura takes beans so no more landfill waste. The unused grinds go on the rose bushes. I moved the Nespresso to work and use the Jura at home. I've had the Jura for around 2 years now. It's ace.

Value isn't always about how cheap something is, it's about the whole picture. Cost vs use vs waste. I think we tend to lose sight of that on this forum a bit.

      • You should see how many printers sit in landfill. The last one I disposed of hadn't even finished the starter toner yet. But I had no room when I upgraded to a better machine.

        • Seems to be a bit of a failure in the market - its cheap to produce these things but there is no obligation on the manufacturers to recycle at the other end.

Maybe that would see a bit of change to the 'disposable society' - if recycling was mandated and built into the purchase price there may be more incentive to extract more value from its operational life.

  • Not available at my local Woolworths in Brisbane.

    • Ask at the counter, my local Brisbane store didn’t have any signs up but when scanned the promo worked.

  • Picked up a mix of capsules and the machine. No signs at my store but promo worked.

However, won’t discount the entire value of the machine if the capsules are under the $8.40 packs. Had to go to counter and get the difference refunded.

  • Aether is correct ($4.50 pods don't apply to this deal).

Many WW stores, including my local, are still running the previous $50 deal but not this one!

  • Can anyone confirm if this works with the cheaper Chicco D'oro capsules??

  • +2

Does not work with the cheaper capsules. You have to buy the more expensive ones making this deal a lot less attractive. Negative vote for the deal not working at said price.

    • 'does not work' as in the products are excluded by the t&cs, or 'does not work' as in they are not compatible with this machine?

      • +2

Can't use the cheaper coffee pods to achieve the $27 price to receive the coffee machine. Unless you get lucky with a worker who will take your word for it.

Not that I read any T&C's but I went into a Woolworths and checked and this was what I was told.

  • +1

Cheapest I could pull was $50 with the Italian blend. Chicco D-oro does Not work. Please update post

    • Was this in store?

      • +1

In store yes. No advertising at all. The model that is advertised in OPs picture is actually valued at 99, not 79. 100% same as pictured.

I had the nice supervisor run through a few of the cheaper packs, but even in the advert in ops post it specifically says which blends can be used.

I still bought it because it's cheap, and because I better be getting that damn google home mini delivered in 4 weeks time

  • +1

It works with Espresso or Mountain pods $8.40 x 6 = $50.4. My store guys didn't know about the deal but suggested scanning six coffee pods boxes and then the machine and it worked. The device appeared as $0 on the screen. In conclusion, it's $50, not $27. Still, I bought it, and I'm happy with the deal. Thanks, OP!

    • also with the italian blend which is 6.99.

That doesnt mean the product is cheaper than the 50, it means it will subtract the different of $1.40 from the discount amount.
I only thought of this after seeing your comment, and feel stupid buying 72 of the same capsule

  • They were out of stock at my wollies and they gave me a raincheck. When it comes back in stock they said they'd just call me up and give it.

  • So after much trial and error it appears the cheapest you can get the machine is $50 as it seems to round to it.

    https://i.imgur.com/SfcP53n.jpg

The image shows that the machine came up as -$97.99, which is a whole 2 McDonald's hamburgers from being free. This rounding also appeared when I only used the Italian pods with came up much cheaper but still rounded to $50 with the machine.

Can't do it with the cheap $4.50 pods unless you have the sign there and the cashier is a little naive not to read the boxes but it does seem to work with the $6.99 Italian boxes and the $8.40 boxes.

Still not a bad deal but almost twice the price OP originally indicated.

    • Also, staff had no idea of the deal and it wasn't advertised in my store. But they confirmed that it should be nation wide as it isn't a clearance item.

    • Whats the cat offer

      • +1

5 cans of whiskers for $7, Pretty much always on at either woolies or coles.

  • Coffee pod machines kind of suck, but it's a good deal.

I had one of these (Nescafe version) in my offices in the UK. Had like 8 flavours, they all tasted the same and they all sucked.

  • Like everyone else, this wasn't advertised in store but was honored with the minimum $50 worth of pods.

  • Just got one from woolies Cumberland Park. No you can't get it with Chicco D'oro capsules. They have to be Vittoria & cheapest is $6.99 so $41.94 for 6 of those. I mixed a few Vittoria capsule types & ended up spending $50 with machine coming free. And I'm having this coffee as I write. Not bad at all. The only downside is maximum cup size it makes is 100ml (not sure if this is adjustable) so I made it using 2 capsules with a splash of milk added after

  • +1

Buy a nespresso creatista everything else is just poverty stricken in comparison.

    • For the price of one of those you can get 10 of these and duct tape them together.

  • -1

anyone tried to return the pods so you can get the machine for free?

    • It probably won't work as the machine is listed on the receipt, where they'd request it back.

  • +1

Thanks for the bargain! I just went and picked mine up from the local woollies. Buying $50 worth of pods and getting a $97 pod machine free is a great deal

  • +1

Unusual it is not online - perhaps it officially starts in the next catalog, but already activated in their system?

  • It's a good deal, but will probably end up in a landfill somewhere like most of the pod machines I own. Doesn't mean I won't get one though. But I should be more considerate to the environment.

  • This is a hoax promotion. Went to Woolworths store, 3 female Customer Service Officer, 1 Store Manager and 1 Male Customer Service Officer confirmed they had no idea or knowledge of this promotion, and i felt that i was the crazy guy trying to steal or cheap their product.

  • Thanks OP.
Tempted to wait it out till 14 November to see if any of the pods packs go on sale so this deal becomes even cheaper (and even cheaper then with WISH cards).
    :)

  • got one in Gungahlin Canberra, 6 x packets of capsules + machine = $50

  • grabed one from local WW, 6 x italian blend = $42, the systems actually much better than i expected, good one thanks

  • Grabbed 6x packs of coffee. Free machine. Works in Victoria.

  • +1

This was my post on one of these last deals back in March:

Most of the supermarkets have deals like this all the time, buy 5 packs of pods get a free Capino coffee machine. I've got two of them from those past deals one is a back up still in it's box and the first one I've been using daily for a good 12 months now. The machines do over time start to lose their 'bite' in being able to adequately pierce the pods but you work out ways around it.

I usually give the pod a little bit of a massage before putting it in and go nuts with the bar/lever thing moving it up and down until finally banging it closed. I used to get leakage from the pods initially but you work out which flavour pods aren't as prone to leaking, the Mountain Grown pods rarely ever leak for me where as the Espresso ones almost always do.

All up for a cheap (practically free) coffee pod machine I've been pretty happy with the service I've got out of mine but judging by my first one which is getting close to the end don't expect to get years worth of use out of them.

People complaining about weakness of the coffee give it one push with 'full' button and whilst still using the same pod give it a second push with the 'half fill' button it fills a tea cup and makes them a fair bit stronger.

Update: My first machine died after about 18 months of loyal service and I've been onto the second one for a good 3-4 months now and this one doesn't leak at all and no problems piercing the pods either so think my first one might've been a slight bit of a dud. Can very much recommend these machines.

  • Had a issue at my local, machine is 99 and only refunded $92, had to go to fount counter and get 8 dollars back at Marion SA.
    But super happy, $42

  • It worked for me in Vic

Bought 4x$$6.99 and 2x$8.40 capsules, and machine -$93.76

Total spent $50 for lots of coffee pods and machines

  • Hmmm, this machine won't work with capsules from other brands?

Can we still return these capsules? 😜

  • if shop online, do I need to add the machine into cart or just shop 6x boxes of capsules for clicka and collect and they will give me the machine?

  • Is that $41.94 before or after cash rewards?
Also can we get further discounts by doing click and collect?
