it says $59 in the title, but that's because the bargain is linked directly to the Samsung Galaxy S phone, which seems quite nice. $49 is illegible too for other phones. check it out, some pretty good phones.

  • Isnt this similar to the JB hi-fi offer, but with Optus instead of Telstra. Eg. if i am new to Telstra and get on a $79 24-month contract for the Htc HD2, then I get a $200 Jb hi-fi voucher.

and what if it is? lol..

  • not to seem too evil but just want to see what happens to the voucher if you cancel your contract early? Is there an obligation to stay onboard for x months or something? Because optus have their 30 day coverage guarantee… just wondering

optus give you about the same amount when you sign up online…

  • This mobile have problems not able to received sms, it's a well-known problem for samsung Galaxy S.

No thats not true. The only problems it has right now is really lag issue and gps. My mum has this phone and they are the problems. They are fixed in updates im pretty sure, and apparently offical update comes out soon..

But having said that yes they have problems unforutunalty. Still an amazing phone! Hopefully cyanogen gets ported to it..

I agree. Its just the lag due to lack of ram and its GPS which isnt picking up satellites and position properly. And also some aussie stock have problems with the hard rebstore buttons not performing the hard restore.
-Have never ever heard of a SMS issue with the SGS

Then again HTC have problems too, but i think its more minimal… :D

        • Thanks for the updates both, I still not able to received sms at this stage.. and not sure when the official updates are coming out…
bob: there is aforum in Whirlpool regarding this SMS issue.

this is the forum going on for sms issues

        • wow…Odd, never heard of it before today :D
But its not surprising. Looks like there are fixes at least - as long as your restore buttons work!

    • There aren't issues with SMS from what i've experienced or read in the 6 weeks of owning and hammering it. There def is issues with the GPS getting a solid lock when using navigation, but the new 2.2 has a fix for it.

Maybe check WP for SMS answers.

Harvey Norman (and sister companies Domayne & Joyce Mayne): Nice to browse at, but I never buy from there. NO EXCEPTIONS.

  • Telstra are offering a $200 welcome credit on some of their smartphones on their Next G $49 cap and above. This is a credit directly applied to your bill. This is especially good if you are looking for an iphone because Telstra seem to receive regular supplies.

Another bonus I also received was a $10 discount from the plan (ie $49 cap - $10 discount = $39 cap) for having a Telstra home bundle (ie home phone and internet)

On top of this they also give you free calls between home phone and mobile phone, and vice versa, if all services are on the same account.

I think the arguement here shouldnt be about which telco your with. Its about whats right for each person. If thats for you, great!

This is a good deal if your looking to hook onto optus~

  • Bob: taken out the sim and put in an old mobile, and all the sms comes thru for the whole week.. Both optus and Virgin Mobile having this problems. If what you mention, the new firmware update can fix the problems, i think this will be an excellent mobile. Or else, just waste of money signing up. I posted the link for Whirlpool as above conversation.
