Eneloop pros may still be made in the old Sharp factory in Japan, now owned by Fujitsu ,
who are the producers of the IKEA batteries , and also Fujitsu branded ni-cads I believe

These are twice the cost we used to get them for and we have to pay for postage…
I am very disappointed with my eneloops. I have still have some in unopened packets from DSE. I have AA and AAA. tropicals, the white ones brown ones "made in Japan etc. I have had at least 5 fail in the last 2 years. Also I have recharged some and put them back in their packet in a box and 6 months later found they were nearly flat. I am giving the IKEA ones a go and today to try have just bought the ALDI 4 AAA ones which claim to be 2450mAH and low self discharge and only $6.99 i think. I use mine in torches, several garden sprinkler timers, security cameras, and children toys

Bit of a gamble buying batteries from a bankrupt business
well here's an update. when I put the new Activ Energy 2500mAH low self discharge ALDI AA batteries which were manufactured in China Jan 2017 and state "ready to use"
in my smart charger actually came up as 10% not very promising?
I think conditioning and regular use is the best way to get good value out of rechargable batteries
Otherwise they're a waste money sitting in a draw

I think I'm going to give the Aldi ones a go. The pricing for Chinese Eneloops are far too high to warrant to the build quality risk. I know everything is made in China these days… but nothing of quality I have ever owned has worn a "Made in China" sticker.
At Aldi pricing, my care factor drops considerably.
If this IS Japanese stock, then I suspect its pretty old. Plus… when you consider postage is on top, this isn't a great deal to be honest.
