I don't know when this changed, but for everyone who's said this works with activating a new service, it didn't work for me.

The annoying thing is the error message on step 5 (where you enter the voucher code) is very vague. Simply "Please call customer service". Even when I called them they seemed confused and said, "yea it's a valid voucher" - then he realised it's because I'm not porting.

So it doesn't seem to work anymore for activating new services and I'm surprised no one else has reported this, seeing as I was experiencing this problem as of two nights ago!

Thanks for your update. I have activated two new services on same day with same account details and same debit card successfully early last week, but could not activate a third.

Got in touch with online chat and was told you can't use same credit/debit card more than 3 or 5 times ( can't remember ) in one day, and try next day or after. Tried multiple times over next few days, and no luck till even now.

Have a feeling you can't have more than five active accounts at once, even with all different numbers. I had a few Kogan XL sims active in last few months, and after data expires or 30 day expiry, I just toss the sim, so not sure if that means sim is still active lol.

Will get in touch again with live chat tomorrow and ask more info as have a few more I want to activate before the cut off on the 20th/11/17. I always tick box that asks how many services active as less than five, but computer system keeps track of amounts.

      • I always tick box that asks how many services active as less than five,
but computer system keeps track of amounts.

So why does Kogan Mobile ask this question, when it already know the answer???

        • I am only guessing going by info I have learnt from other peoples experiences and also my own, I am not an insider of Kogans mobile system, or any other telco for that matter.

When I said "computer system keeps track of amounts" I was meaning their own with Kogan. The question for all telcos is for any 5 mobile services from all providers added up.

So answering your question, Kogans system would most likely only know how many services you have connected/are active with them, not the other telcos.

Most of the time when I activate a new sim or port my one original number over to another prepaid service provider ( yes I am sim slut x2 and chew up lot's of data lol ) I tick the box for less than 5 prepaid active services and although I would have many more adding up all telcos together, have not had any problems as long as sims are 100% legit.

        • @ozhunter68:

So why do they ask How many Kogan services you already have, if they already know???

        • @itcrowd:
To be honest, I don't know why they ask if you already have 4 or more prepaid services. Why does Kogan require a Credit/Debit Card in order to activate a prepaid service even if you request No Auto Re-Charge? Different Companies, different rules I suppose. Can you imagine or guess why???

Hi there illumination. Did you sort out your problem activating a new service for Kogan without porting a number over?

I also hit a snag trying to activate my fourth new service in a few days ( not really knowing how many older services were still active as I just toss the sim at end of month and/or data expiry ) , so worked out through talking to live chat that we can actually have up to five active services with Kogan ( although website says 4 ).

After requesting all my older services to be cancelled ( there were two services still active, so sounds like sims only remain active for around a month without re-charging approximately ). Also need to wait 24 hrs after attempting successfully/unsuccessfully to activate with one credit/debit card if using the same card. Have not worked this one out fully as still too many links in this chain as variables, but use that as a rough guide.

      • Hey, I didn't "sort it out" but it started working again for me! I forgot to come back and report.

worked out through talking to live chat that we can actually have up to five active services with Kogan ( although website says 4 ).

I actually wonder if they enforce this because I think I have more than 5..

        • Thanks for your helpful response, glad to hear you got your services all going before the end of the 20th November expiry for this deal.

Can I ask if you had to use a different credit/debit card after the first 3 services on the one same card, as this is now my current problem.

Please see "itcrowd's" comments below about only being able to use one card for 3 services ( to Kogan staff have not told me that, yet ).

I only have one card, so only way I see possible is to cancel older sims with less data on them, and have 3 services with the most data on them and close to the full 30 days. If you have any ideas on another better workaround, that could help.

          Thanks in advance.

        • @ozhunter68:

I did have to use a different card as others have suggested here.

My workaround was by using DiviPay virtual cards to effectively "create" new card numbers.

Sorry for the delayed response again!

        • @illumination:

Cheers, will look into it for next time if I need. Got stuck and had to call Logan few times and they are now investigating my case ( not sure if good or bad as they will see all my free activations and killing off numbers when data ran out lol ).

It doesn't work with or without porting. "Please call customer service" comes up no matter what is input.

      • +1

Last time I tried it, it worked again without needing to port.

Didn't try porting when I posted my previous comment.

      • +1

Ok this is happening to me now again.

Not sure what triggers it. I'll just wait it out.. worked last time LOL

        • Still no luck here.

        • I finally figured out what the problem was - it was the SIM number/phone number not the voucher code. The same voucher codes work with different SIM number/phone number. I just happened to choose the dud one and kept persisting with it. Argh!

  • +4

Successfully activated my sim with voucher code, as a new number (i.e., no need to port old number). used with a Vodafone Pocket Wifi R215 without changing any settings.

    Yeah!

  • +1

    HINTS:

    • You don't need to port a new number to use this, despite what Kogan tells you.
    • You can only use the same credit card number 3x times. So use another one for all your other activations.
    • I can't even get that far (to payment method page).

      • +2

You can call Kogan Mobile and request them to activate Sim or if already an active sim customer to look at your account details. So far they have been helpful with me, although a little elusive, so be prepared to prod & quiz them to get correct clear answers.

    • +1

How did you find out about the only three times per credit card hint from above? I am still stuck on trying to activate my fourth sim using same debit card.
When calling Kogan Mobile they tell me because I have attempted to use that card in last 24hrs, but still failing, so your hint Sounds Correct.
Will have to call them and kill off two sims with most used up data lol.

      • +1

How did you find out about the only three times per credit card hint from above?

Rakesh (one of their staff) told me.

  • Trying to activate.. it wont even recognize my address!

    • Facing exactly the same problem. Any luck with activating the SIM?

      • Nope! Sent a message to support last night. Hopefully they can work something out and extend the offer

        • Thanks! have messaged support as well

        • +1

@4han: Got a response, you have to ring up and they can do it manually. I can't be bothered..

        • @nubzy: Yes got the same template response. Will give it a miss.

        • @4han:
i encountered problem with address too, it keeps showing any other address but mine, found a trick that worked, what you need to do is put in your post code before your street address then it will show just your own address

    • nubzy, read my comment above

  • Anyone know what happens if you try activating a new sim while you're with Kogan but then choose the option of you're porting in even though you're really not because your number is already with Kogan, to see if the recharge works like that as well?

  • +1

If anyone needs a voucher code PM me.

  • Doesn't accept new activations when you use the same debit card on the same day after a couple of previous activations. You can't even edit your card details to another card as it has your name up top. Very frustrating!

    • Yes, had same issues you there "NEEDHELP".

Frustrating it is to us maximising ozbargain sim slut professional opportunists, but a system to limit over use/abuse for Kogan Mobile lol.

  • +2

If anyone needs a voucher code PM me too.

  • +1

In the email I received from Kogan it said the voucher expires at 11:59pm AEST on 21/11/2017. I tried activating just now and it said the voucher is invalid. I rang customer service and they told me the voucher expired last night (20/11). In the end they issued me a new code to activate today.

    • Oh? Mine also say expires 21/11 but haven't tried yet. Guess I'll need to be calling too

      • Confirming that the same thing is happening for me, but out of the 4 that I have remaining, 2 say "Invalid Voucher" and 2 say "Please Call Customer Service".

This implies that the system thinks two have either expired or been used (Invalid Voucher), and that the other two are in that funny limbo state that has been referred to above. All have the same stated expiry in the original voucher email.

        • Try calling customer service. Be prepare to repeat your case for several times. They kept saying the voucher has expired and I had to repeat that's what not my email said. They put me on hold and come back offering me a new voucher.

        • +1

@xyann: Thanks for the heads up.

I've already spoken to someone on the phone who said I will get a replacement voucher. I mentioned the expiry was communicated as 21 Nov 11:59pm in the emails.

I have not been told what the new expiry of the new voucher will be. Have you been told?

        • +1

@illumination: I was told to use it within today which I had and had no problem activating.

  • anyone still has a voucher to give away? i'll take one please..

  • In the email containing the voucher it says voucher expires on 30 Nov 2017 but I just tried to activate one this morning and it says voucher invalid. Has anyone been able to activate post 20 Nov 2017?

    • Sounds like Xyann did yesterday.

  • If anyone has a voucher spare, I'd love one too please! TIA

  • 30 Nov 2017 Can we still activate by then ?
