    Ozbargain turn to be gearbest?

    • +2

I think it has. I think its because all their items are genuine

Thanks for alerting me to this - just realised that i've been sold 2 x fake Xiaomi Pro HD headphones in the last couple of months as per the discussion in your link… This follows on form my Fake Rock phone holder https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/326137 that turned up this week too….grrr!

glad that you caught on. I usually get negged when I make these kind of posts so its nice to see someone benefit

        • @ENZA DENINO:

Nah I appreciate it - it was my first time purchasing Pro HD headphones and to be honest was wondering what all the fuss was about…makes sense now!

Ha! (Get in Quick to avoid Sour Grapes) ;)

Couldn't help! I had to mention it :)

      Any deal on sour grapes?

  • Tnx got the strip light

  • Can anyone with actual (only need minimal) electronic expertise comment on the strip? I made a post way-back needing a bunch of these for a project and this was one of the suggestions, but the deal earlier today people talked about stripping them just for the well made remote.. So would like someone to chime in if possible.

EDIT: Disregard comment.. Just saw the last and final reddit post regarding gearbest(xiaomi), something I have dealt with in the past (fakes) and moved on, but it seems not buying from them is hopefully the only avenue to solve this. Terrible business practice.

IMO the Xiaomi Yeelight is a good value kit at this price point. It comes with a power supply, an in-line controller with some handy functions, a developed app with more functions, and everything is finished in white. I just bought one as it also advertises to have music synchronisation, so I want to see how good it can be.

What do you need help with? Have you sorted out what you needed for your project?

      • +2

Ah, sky blu, someone who helped me through some dark days on here — I should be asking you if you need help :P

.. But yeah, essentially just a big LED project (controllers aren't an issue, i can happily code arduinos or a rPi to control as many meters as I want) I'm just looking for good quality strips, but they seem to lose value when they come in 'packages' - just 1.5meter rolls with a power supply, controller, etc.

        (Sidenote below)
If the music aspect of your setup doesn't work as well as intended, I may be able to help, so feel free to ask. As a part of my project I'm going to try hook into the 'logitech gaming system' (it would be the first time, as far as I know, someone has integrated games into LED function, a quick example would be flashing red and blue when cops are on you in GTA)

        • Had to look up your post history to realise you're that dude :)

Good quality strips wise, basically I just get the 5-metre rolls online (ebay, ali etc.) with the suitable specs for the project at hand (IP rating, LED style, size, lux, color).

Music sync - I tried the typical random-brand music synchronisation and they basically do mono beats, either pick up via the mic or aux feed. Nothing exciting. I'm actually waiting for the Vivi (Visual Vibes) Controller. It was a Kickstarter project last year but took a while cos they gotta go thru extended (and unexpected) testings and setting up their start-up venture. We're talking about individually addressable LEDs using WS2812 so you can separate mid, treb, bass and supposedly create reactive visualisations via the app. Check out this Youtube video. I'm looking forward to play around with that.

Can you tell me more about your 'Logitech gaming system' LED project? What are the tools/devices needed if I want to learn how to do simple coding for LEDs. It'd be great if you could point me in the right direction.

Most importantly – glad to know you're back on track with your life (thumbs up).

  • so are the strip lights fakes or not?

EDIT: Just bought it, i'll let you know if it is.

Congratulations Ozbargainer, you have leveled up!

  • I've had this strip for a couple of months now from Gearbest. It connects to my MiHome app just fine.

  • Light Strips are gone. :(

    • Still Working- Code is OZBAU1

      • Yep, my bad. Once I logged in it worked.

  • Thanks OP, perfect price for me to pull a couple of old 250gb laptop drives for extra storage.

  • If only the enclosure wasn't transparent, I would have bought it.

    • My first thought too, would love a deal to get a few more of these though only $6.68 if you create a new account and get all the bonus points.

  • I can't think of any use of that light strip really.

  • gooooone

    No more light strip :(
    logged in first before trying:
"The Code you entered has expired."

  • Yep, Xiaomi Yeelight Smart Light Strip Gonski

  • Anyone know if the strip light can be set to slowly turn on and off over time. If so, could be useful for an aquarium to avoid startling the fish.

    • +1

The only way you can perhaps achieve this is by adjusting the brightness via app every time you switch it on and dim the light before switching off.

  • was it just me or the website is experiencing some sort of technical issues? added 1x enclosure, login, go to cart, apply the discount code… then got kicked out.

Signed back in, repeat order, same issue.

    • No issues here, could log in, apply code and c/o! Perhaps try a difft browser or account?

  • New code for Yeelight strip (thanks to freshchard):

    Code: freshchard5
