    Cheers OP!

  • +7

    My Xiaomi collection grows stronger.

    • you meant grows brighter?

  • +6

Thanks OP. Has been a good night on OzB. Spent $2.50, and will recieve a light, fan, and a mug

    • +18

      and will recieve

      Optimism.

  • Can anyone please tell me how to use (or if we can use) the store credit points on GearBest? It says I have $3.33 (133 points) but have no idea if I can use that to pay for an item, like this USB light.

    • +3

You can't use the points when you use coupons

      • +1

I see. I was looking around their site and I was lost. Thanks

Edit: GB points system is weird! Never paid attention to it before, but now that I have paid for this light with PayPal, somehow the points were reduced to 131 (from 133 right before I've just made the purchase), and they're worth $2.62 (down from $3.33). Does a purchase with a coupon decrease the points and their worth somehow?

        • +1

          Check the currency

  • +1

    Yes. Finally got one.

  • +20

    Before anybody asks:
    - People use these in areas where light is required.
    - Powered by USB.
    - Are "enhanced" because they have an on/off switch and 5 brightness settings.

    • +5

I also use lights in areas where light is required, innovation at its finest.

    • My last order arrived pretty quickly, but the light emits a chemical smell when it warms up and operates.

      • +10

The light has 8 lightning bugs inside it, the more times you push the button for brightness, the more times 5V is applied to their testicles.

The smell is their testicles frying.

        • I always wondered how LEDs worked. I pity the bugs in LED globes being hit with 240V!

        • +2

I want to hear them scream.

  • Code expired?

    • +1

Nope, not yet. Will probably last until about 11:45.

    • +1

Nope just ordered one. You need to be logged in for code to work.
Paypal converted to au$1.33 for me.

      • +4

Why did you use conversion? The cheapest method is to pay in AUD.

Edit: Negged for saving people money lol.

        • Yer not sure. Didn't have same issue with fan earlier.

      • +2

Change the currency on the site to AUD, ends up being $1.26

      • All good I got one but wife had a go and hers stated code expired but I realised she was on my account.

      • It did the same to me too. The final cost was AU$1.33.

  • ty manage to get one finally

  • Expired!!!!

    • nope still works

    • Login to your account first

      • Did,

Cleared cache and used incognito too.

The Code you entered has expired.
Code for single unit price only; VIP Price, Special Offer or Group Deal all exempt.

        • +1

I think I found the issue why the coupon didn't work:

I have a previous unpaid order for the light.

          Check your past orders!

  • The Code you entered has expired

  • Success! Now to wait for delivery!!

  • Had it in my cart. Was already in PayPal page when I told myself "get 1 more". Hit back. Added 1 more. Applied the coupon.

Boom! "The Code you entered has expired."

    • +2

      Usually it's 1 per account

      • +1

        Didn't know. Too late.

  • +1

Coupon isn't expired, reset cache or use incognito and try again.

    • Incognito didn't work. using a different browser didn't either.

      • Hmm, have you recently purchased the same item on GB from a different deal?

        Still works fine for me.

        • Nope. Just got curious what the item is, and didn't mind shelling out $1.26 for it.

  • +1

Website is flaky if not buggy

    • +2

You should be alert but not alarmed.

      • always… I look for reproducible errors!

  • Not working, extends price to 4.60. I'm logged in, 1 in my cart, add coupon, and price raises…
    FIXED PRICE Coupon: $0.99
    But not working

  • ive cleared cache, used incognito but still get the error:

The Code you entered has expired.
Code for single unit price only; VIP Price, Special Offer or Group Deal all exempt.

  • Ok, shows price as $2.99, then when I enter the code, the price goes back up to $4.60, how does that work?

    • +1

Fixed it, restarted browser, cleared cache, cleared cookies.
      Thanks, finally got one.

  • Code still work. My fourth one and i think i have enough. Thanks

    • Wrong answer - doesn't work for Eneloops, won't work for Xiaomi gadgets.

  • +1

I think I found the issue why the coupon didn't work:

I have a previous unpaid order for the light.

    Check your past orders!

  • +1

Thinking about getting a cheap USB AA power bank case to use with this.
    Something like these -
    $2.89 shipped
    $3.90 shipped
    Has anyone had any experience?

  • +1

    Thnx op got it

  • +1

Woo hooo, got another one, because first one worked great. I plan to build a table lamp out of these.

    • +2

I was thinking about lighting the lounge, but I've scaled back to just the pantry.

  • +1

    Finally got my first!

  • +1

so, after eneloop, xiaomi is the fashion term now.

  • +2

Got 2, still waiting on 3 more..
annnddd this missus has put her foot down, not allowed to order any more of these Apparently :O

  • +1

Snagged one, only the second time I've been able to do so (my camping lighting should set now). Thanks for posting.

  • +1

Thanks OP. I suppose 4 out of 8 isn't too bad.

  • +2

Do I need a second one?

What a really want though is the fan, still haven't got one of those yet…

    • Same. 5 lights 0 fans :(

    • I managed to get one, could be useful for the upcoming summer months. Helps if you can find out in advance when the coupons go live, they often get posted to budget light forum although it is not a comprehensive list of all deals. But enough to currently tie me up for hours a day researching whether I need a discounted headlamp, tablet, keyboard, laptop etc. or not.

      • +1

You just listed everything that I might want but definitely don't need…

        • +1

I've actually used my headlamp (Zebralight H60w) almost daily since around 2009, that has ended up being the most used of all gadgets I bought from online stores.

  • How bright are these? i want one for my fishy

    • +2

quite, much brighter than say a smartphone flashlight, can light up a small room on max brightness if you point it at the ceiling (so that you can say read text anywhere in a pinch).

      • Sounds like i'm buying this.

Now i need a 20,000mah powerbank for it.
How long would that last i wonder…

Edit: Oh damn, expired… Guess i'll wait a couple hours until the next deal

        • +3

          I did a quick calculation

it uses 5V at 0.4A, so 2W from my usb meter

A 20,000 mah battery should have around 74WH, meaning it should last about ~33 hours on a decent quality powerbank

        • @Tigerhacker: On maximum brightness setting?

        • +1

          @inasero:

Yes, some more data, but if you are curious, here are all 5 brightnesses

          Min: 0.05A
          Low: 0.07A
          Med: 0.12A
          Hig: 0.19A
          Max: 0.40A

        • @Tigerhacker: Wow thanks! So on minimum brightness settings this thing could last approximately 33x8=264 hours?

All I need is one of these and I'm set for unlimited free lighting

        • +1

          @inasero:
Probably a bit less, at that point, power used by the power bank to power its own internal circuits might be significant when you are talking about days.

Congratulations, you have invented the garden solar light :)

  • Im getting code expired error

    • Same :(

    • +2

Looks like they got to 500 sold. Took about an hour longer than tightarse's "prime time" deals, so us night owls (or Western Australians) benefit.

  • :O

  • +2

"The Code you entered has expired."

Tried all the troubleshooting above, still getting this message.

  • If you are happy with standard edition (not "enhanced", whatever that means), search eBay on "Xiaomi Portable USB LED Light" - many sellers have it for $1 incl. shipping.

    • +2

Dude, it's all about the button - once you've buttoned there ain't no goin'back. Enhanced all the way baby!

      • +1

spot on we are all control freaks

  • +1

Damn I was far too late! Definitely try source another deal for some more units! :D

  • +1

    Got one thanks!

  • +1

    Go it!

    • *got

  • These deals never last long. I always miss them due to going to bed early. :/

  • dam i missed out again, i had the wrong alert set up.

  • Back in stock, thanks to adamfury.

  • +7

Posted my code and then wondered why it got removed haha. Should be 800 units available at 3 per GB account with my code. Cheers!

    • +3

      Thanks adam you're a champ.

currently using two of these to light my g15 keyboard after the backlight failed like a year ago.

      • +2

Anytime! Had to source one myself since the only deal I was able to get to in time was for 1x of the blue ones. Thinking of using 1 or 2 of these in the back of my TV for some cheap back lighting.

    • +1

ta, got two but had to order separately.

    • +2

      Thanks Adam.

  • +1

Coupon still works just got 1 … couldn't resist dont need it but its a bargain in true OzBarging way …but I dont have any enloops….sigh

  • +3

How many Mi USB Lights have you got from GB's Bargain so far? I got 4, but really I only need one :P haha

    • I've got 2, with 2 more en route, but I'm resisting this time … because the code doesn't work for blue.
