  • Aldi has a 20M retractable hose for around $60. Why is this so pricey? Do they install for you?

better quality hoses and joiners by far.
Joiners lock together rather than clip

But their sprayer aint that great for the $.
Both of mine have issues. One is very stiff/slow to shut off, and the other has its finish flaking off.

      • Thanks for the feedback. My neighbor has a Hoselink and her Sprayer has recently broken as well. Something to do with the spring I think.

I still feel this is very pricey for what you get.

    • At $60 a pop you could even buy two or even three and still have change.

No they don’t include installation. I don’t know what sort of quality the Aldi ones are but I’ve had a couple of Hoselinks for a few years now and I am very happy with them. They seem to have the retractable mechanism worked out very well.

      • Thanks for the feedback. Last thing I want is to invest in a hose and have a dodgy retract system so this is good news :)

    • And Repco sometimes has them for $49, not the same quality as Hoselink though.

You can check it out on the Whirlpool forums thread where there is plenty of feedback for all sorts of reels. General consensus though is that Hoselink is the best for reliability and after sales support. There is nothing worse than a retractable reel that refuses to retract and Hoselinks retract mechanism is very reliable. My parents have a Hoselink and the spray attachment crapped out after the warranty expired otherwise it has been good. Their after sales were good enough to give a discount on a new attachment.

I'm looking at getting one for myself.

  • The hosereels are amazing, I have two. They are very easy to fit to a stud or a post.

Previously used Hozelock, Holman, and a range of universal hose fittings both plastic and copper.. None can handle the water pressure in my pipes except for Hoselink!

  • I have 3 which are all about 15 months old. Retract well except for the last metre or so. The spray heads are crap for the money as they always leak and the metal coating has flaked off one of them. Probably better than the rest but I don't know if the 300% extra cost covers this difference or not.

  • How easy is it to replace the original hose with a new one? The unit I have has a 3 or 4 twisted kinks in the hose at various points that won't come out.

As a result it means the hose wont retract very easily quite often.

    • How long have you had the hose? Did the Kinks appear straight away? Or has it been years?

  • -1

I bought it when it was on special with Masters so the unit has to be 18 months old or a touch more. The kinks only happened a few months ago, I suspect the hose didn't sit right when it retracted as the kinks are a bit like little corkscrews.

It doesn't prevent the hose from working, just that its a pain to retract sometimes.

    • Have you tried unreeling it all the way, turning the water on, reeling it back in and undo the nozzle to release the pressure?

Your best bet is to contact Hoselink, their support is great.

      • Yep. Its the corkscrew type kinks that are the issue. I may go back to the manufacturer and take images of the hose and see what they say.

Given its a flexible hose its odd that this issue has happened in more than one place on the hose.

    • I bought it when it was on special with Masters

      Thats Hozelock not Hoselink

Hoselink isnt sold through any retailers.

      • That's a good point - they even say it on their TV commerceriarls

      • You're right, but when Hoselink first started they were sold in stores, although this was many years ago and well before Masters existed.
