    • same here i impulsively bought a gamdias one

anyone know what games to play on android to maximise the use out of it? ive already tried the accompanying happychick app but dont wanna play just roms

      • kotor is great. Loved the game and played the hell out of it on console way back and still awesome to play again. Don't have this exact same control but very similar - Ipega 9068 and it works flawlessly with it, I'd be pretty sure this would too.

        Grand Theft Auto III
        GTA Vice City
        GTA San Andreas

        • sorry good point. ive played those though, but yes theyre fantastic with a gamepad

      • If you like racing, Asphalt 8 should work a treat… I use the iPega one also.

          I'd recommend Rush Rally 2.

Keen to try this for my OnePlus 3. Any ideas what size phones can fit into the clip?

  • This will work with most emulators, yes?
    (Snes, sega, callus, mame, capcom)

Also, maximum size of mobile phone can be fitted?

    • Yeah it'll work. Emulation apps usually allow buttons to be mapped anyway.

Just sent the question to Geek on the maximum phone size. I suspect it will go up to 6.

      • 6

Screen size means nothing. The width is the important thing. Long and skinny will be very different to short and wide.

        • +2

          Suspect. I'm getting clarification.

Good work OP i was looking for a deal like this.

    • +5

It's okay, but keep looking, this gamepad isn't really worth getting for "serious" gaming.
Reviews said its build quality is too cheap, no surprises.
In particular its shortcomings are: lag, hard action buttons, bad Dpad, soft triggers, and deadzones in JoySticks.
However, it looks like a decent upgrade over the previous model, and I think its almost as good as the alternatives I'm going to suggest.

As a rule of thumb; anything under 60ms input lag is good.
If around 20ms lag, it is excellent.
If around 80ms lag, it is workable.
If around 120ms lag, it causes problems.

      I suggest these two instead:
      A) GameSir G4S/T1S ($60 RRP, best deal I've seen ~$40)
      https://www.gearbest.com/game-controllers/pp_401527.html
      https://www.gearbest.com/game-controllers/pp_626377.html

      B) IPEGA PG - 9055 ($40 RRP, best deal I've seen ~$22)
      https://www.gearbest.com/video-game/pp_266693.html

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1Da6MMlSmc

      Footnote:
There is a new model the iPega 9076 but I don't know how that one is. Is is better than the previous performance model that is the PG-9055, or a serious challenger to the GameSir T1S ? Really no reviews on it out there.

      • +1

Where are you seeing the reviews for the G02?

        • +1

I bet he's looking at the original Mars G01 as mine is a new release.

      • So where did you find the reviews Kangal? This controller has only been available for a couple of days.

        • So what is the response time for G02? I am interested in buying, have the item in cart since morning and I couldn't find any positive review.

        • @chootar-singh:

Sorry Clear, I was thinking about the G01.
It was a very meh product. Like you said, this one's very new (2nd Oct 2017).
Looks like no-ones really done a teardown on this unit, and tested it thoroughly.

I've been reading its specs and can't make out if this is simply the G01 in a new body.
Or if they actually addressed the issues from the first one (lag, deadzones, sensitivity of the key switch/triggers), then stuffed it in a new body. Maybe they actually used a new board/radio inside to improve the connection, and maybe upgraded the sticks and switches to an improved model rather than a simple cosmetic job.

It bears some resemblance to the iPega 9076/9077… but I'm not sure about that unit either. However, the GameSir T1S and the iPega 9055 have proven themselves so far (but still have lag issues of 70-130ms).

I've sent them an email, and I'll update this if I get any word back. I doubt they'll send a review unit for me.

        • @Kangal:

Here to update, that I've really got nothing to update.
It's been three weeks, and I only noticed today that they replied back only to say that they don't ship out review units, and that they have no specific information about the hardware besides what's listed in the spec sheet.

This could be a G01 in a new shell as I've stated earlier, Chinese companies do do these when a product isn't received well, or they want to inspire a "fresh product", or simply because of parts-shortages.

So I can't say how it compares to its cousins GameSir G4S, GameSir T1S, iPega 9076.
There's still no reviews on it, only one unboxing video on YouTube.

Maybe someone from OzBargain has received their unit, and would care to chime in?
Would be useful especially if they know how this stands up to those earlier competitors that I mentioned.

edit: Just noticed some reviews posted here. Sounds like they made improvements over the G01, so its not just a shell change. Although its clear that it is not perfect. Seems like the GameSir T1S is still the best third-party controller on the market, so the extra price seems justified. I would recommend that for the better experience, but this is good for the 2-player or something the kids might drop and bite.

    the addition of a turbo

    You had me at turbo

  • May I ask, is it MFI authorized?

    • The MFI cable at the bottom of the post? Yes. Go here, select Brand in the drop down and search for Tronsmart. Alternatively search for the UPC/EAN 6970232011287

Sorry.. I meant the Tronsmart Mars G02 Controller, since you said it can work with iOS devices.

  • No rumble triggers, no deal.

  • How does this compare to 8bitdo / ipega controllers?

Want something that ideally will work with both iOS and Android well.

  • Use with remote play app for a cheap PS4 remote.

  • +2

    “Compatible with Android 4.0 & above, Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista & PlayStation 3“

Note: this is not compatible with iOS like the post states

    • You are correct, my mistake. Retracted.

  • I'm interested with this, what will be the good strategy games to play with Android? Also, how long the delivery to Aus?

    • OP what's the delivery time to AU?

      • Sorry for the late response. The shopping cart will give you a rough estimate but with the standard free registered shipping it's 15-30 business days after processing. My orders to Australia typically arrive in 3-4 weeks. Express options for an additional cost will be much quicker.

  • How'd you reckon this would go with the Switch? Only just saw the 2.4g part.

    • Nope, doubt it.

  • +2

Damn volume button position on the Nexus 6p!!!

  • +1

Can it use this to play games on my phone and chromecast to TV?

Otherwise will need a good android TV Box.

    • Nice idea! Thinking about it, if you cast your entire screen to the Chromecast, it would probably work.

    • I've tried casting a game to chromecast and it's very laggy and low FPS, even with Wi-Fi access Point directly in front. I don't recommend it.

      • Cast or Mirror? Cast I reckon should be OK.

        • Mirror. I haven't played a game which supports Cast before, if it did I'm sure it would be OK as well because a Cast loads an HTML5 page on the device itself so they have more control what to present on there.

        • Cast is laggy for me to MI Box.

        • @Baron-K:

Why you need cast on MI Box?

      • Have you tried LocalCast?

  • This or moga game controller?

  • just noticed.
    Tronsmart 60W 5 Port Charger (USB-PD & VoltIQ)
    it's UK plug NOT US

    • It's on clearance as well as the EU version. Both take a figure 8 cable so you could swap it out for an Australian one.

  • Compatible with MiBox?

    • Yes

  • Im curious what android games you would use something like this for. I've bought a controller early this year and hardly ever used it.

    • Many of the first person and racing games. Works really well with GTA too.

  • ordered and hoping this will work with some emulators?

  • +1

Does it support XInput? (thus oculus rift)

    • Damn, I hope so. This is what I bought it for

  • Does anybody have experience with both the Happychick and Gamesir apps that you can download to run roms / games?

Google being Google put all sorts of warnings up about them and various online Virusscan tools also flag them as dodgy.

  • Will it work with RetroPie systems? Currently got a PS4 controller set up but would rather switch to this one if compatible

    • Yes it'll work with the wireless receiver.

  • Grabbed one, thanks OP!

  • I tried to buy 4 of them, but the discount is only applied to one?

    https://imgur.com/72h6ug5

    Shouldn't the discount be $10USD x 4?

    • Coupon is set to 1 per order.

    • +1

coupon has changed to 33.33%, and you can buy 4 pieces at $19.99/unit

  • Hi peeps, anyone got their Controller yet?

I don't have any experience with this seller before (geekbuying.com), anyone have personal experience? on their shipping time and customer support?

I've ordered one, but on the order status only showing as "Payment Processed" since the 10'th of October and now it's the 18'th already

    Thanks

    • Same here, order still hasn't been shipped yet. I have also emailed them but have had no response. Pretty bad customer service so far.

Also, looking at the price… it's already lowered to $26.22 with no discount code https://www.geekbuying.com/item/Tronsmart-Mars-G02-Wireless-…

      • When did you email them? I've put the question to Geek.

Edit: They have advised that orders are currently being shipped (there were heaps!). I'm happy to check if you PM me your order numbers.

        • I ordered on 12th October. I will PM you my order number. Thanks.

    • I've received mine. It took about two weeks from placing the order to receiving it, using one of the Express options (TNT selected, but was delivered by DHL).

Well, I've been VERY happy with it so far. It pairs very quickly and works with all of my emulation apps on Android. It also re-pairs and is ready to go quite quickly when switching the unit back on.

What I also did was to download Moonlight for Android and use it to stream Fallout 4 from my PC to my Galaxy S8+ and the controller itself worked flawlessly without any button remapping required.

One thing to keep in mind when using it with emulators on Android, particularly PSXe, is to make sure you choose 'Digital' for the Player 1 gamepad scheme. I've noticed some people saying that the D-Pad worked, but the thumbstick didn't. Changing that setting to Digital enables the left thumbstick.

  • +3

I got my mine today (Order Date: 10/11/2017, Shipping Method: DHL Express)

Look/Feel: sturdy but not best looking plastic, rough seams in the moulding

    Initial Impressions:

    Mi Box

Paired no problems, played Asphalt 8, responsive doesn't seem laggy though I think there maybe dead zones need to test more and compare it to something better.

    Phone -(Xiaomi Mi5 64gb)

Paired 2 out of six attempts, and the 2nd time although it paired it didn't work with Modern Combat 5, when it did work while better than touch controls wouldn't call the movement smooth (nothing to hard on).

Besides having to put my phone in slightly offset (due to on/off button position on Mi5) the extendable mounting is a pain to use, tightly sprung and because it flexes back it feels that any moment it will eject my phone out which actually does with the phone hardcase on. The "grippy" pads at the top and bottom are actually quite slippery and ineffective.

For those wondering it extends 8.5cm

    Conclusion
Won't use it with my phone, Will keep for the nephew and niece to play on the Mi Box.

    Glad I didn't buy two.

    • Cheers for the review, much appreciated!

Was considering one of these or an 8BitDo / GameSir / Ipega…may wait for a deal on one of those!

      Cheers.

      • I've had no issues with it at all (see review above). Maybe the pairing issue has something to do with the phone?

  • Got the device today, should I download any android app to make it more compatible with android games?

I can't seems find G02 model on their website: http://www.tronsmart.com/support/download-center

    • Okay after testing couple of android games, I'm rather disappointed with this. For each game, I need to setup the gamepad settings

Plus, there was a time it does not work (pressing A and B created my bluetooth audio up and down - yes, I was using bluetooth headset at the time), until I switch off and on the gamepad.

The phone viewing angle could be better too. It cannot be opened wide enough (only has two settings, 90 degrees and +/- 160 degrees). I wish it can be opened up to 180 degrees.
