    An OzBargainer's life mission.

    • Maybe take advantage of some of the Ansell deals we have here

    • there are things in life you don't want, but you'll get them anyway

yeah, like, if you are an author, having to give away your book for free on Amazon.
Perhaps they do it to push it up in the sales rank?

Thats exactly what it is. Many successful book launches start like this. Its about getting your numbers and reviews up for momentum. It establishes credibility and get your book noticed.

In this day and age its near impossible to be noticed and successful without tactics like this if you're a new author

Related - these sites explain logical fallacies & cognitive biases, to assist you in analysing reasoning & judgment (your own, or that of the person you're arguing with). It's also handy to link to the logical fallacies or cognitive biases you witness in an online setting, when you can't help but point out flaws in something you see written - fantastic for Facebook & Twitter! ;) Oh, & each site has a free poster you can download & print if you want help to remember them.

    • Bugger off !

    • Cognitive biases are unconscious. Attempting to detect or change them consciously doesn't work.

      • But being aware of them is something I've found helpful.

      • Well that would be news to many therapists, psychologists etc.
They need to be aware of their own biases, otherwise they're a danger to shipping.

        Top links @LustStarrr.

      • Shouldn't it be subconscious ? Both have similar meaning … Im not trolling or being grammar nazi

        • I think you can be consciously aware of your sub-conscious bias if you are self-aware enough to self-analize in an objective maner

Having been brought up encouraged to keep an open mind helps though

          I find self-analysis is useful
          If its only comforting

Now cognitive bias may be another thing all together

        • @Beach Bum:
          |Having been brought up encouraged to keep an open mind helps though

Negative, I obtain that 'open mind' way of thinking as Im an adult. Ofc there are some draw line though.

          I tend to agree with @MrSammyMcG, that aware/recognition > attempting/trying > solution

@frewer: taking one sentence out if context then tearing it down doesn't add up to anything

        • @Beach Bum: You're right, but what's next ?

        • @frewer: thinking for yourself

      • +1

Yes it does. They are a habit which is therefore partially subconscious but the action itself is conscious therefore it can be stopped or changed with persistence. If what you said we're true no one would ever have quit an addiction.

  • I'm not holding high hopes for the standard of writing, when the book should arguably be called the joy of negotiation, based on the 'getting what you want' logic.

But it's free, so nothing lost

I came here for an argument!.

Amazon keeps impressing me with how easy the checkout with free books on your local store for your kindle - one click and bam, another book I won't have time to read for years.

    • This is the spirit. There are things in life you don't want, but you'll get them anyway

      • +1

        Like STD's?

        • Probably a bit less regret than that.

        • @superroach: like if you gave chumlee your phone number?

  • Why would i want this book? Stupid title so probably a stupid book (just practicing my argumentative skills here & now need a reply)

    • Been trying to start and argument here but no-ones biting.
Talk about stupid though , anyone that names themselves after the dumbest idiot on tv, I just don't have high hopes.

      • He's been successful from playing a fool. Entertaining too. He's no beach bum

        • He's not playing unfortunately
Perfect candidate for late term abortion I thinks

        • @Beach Bum: Chumlee has been successful in buying and selling sneakers for nice profit margins. Takes some brains to do this successfully

        • @chumlee a blind chipmunk is bound to find an acorn now and then

  • +1

Anyone else think of Monty Python when reading the title? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lvcnx6-0GhA

    • +1

I think I had that thought 13 minutes before you ;)

  • To think I paid hecs on an elective about negotiations. Silly me!

  • Is this arguably the best free book ever?

  • it shows me not available with Australian account. How do i get it please?

  • Pretty sure this book should be titled the Joy of Manipulation.

  • Might recommend this to the Mrs…

  • …or not.
