John Boston The Point Pale Ale:

    Holgate Norton Lager:

    • Oh. Not so good then. I was just looking at the DM reviews.

DM reviews overrate everything and on average have not ever had a top tier craft beer

  • Great … just in time for Ocsober! http://www.ocsober.com.au/

It'll be easier to stay sober with these terrible October offers.

    Pretty disappointing month tbh.

Iron Jack is a new and ridiculous front for Lion. John Boston is genetic Woolies home brand. Heineken 3 and Carlton lime are not worth thinking about.
These October offers are atrocious, no beer above 6% rating on Ratebeer (aside from the Vic/SA specific) so I have to neg.

    • yeah, i’m disappointed in coles and woolies home brand beers and lack of quality and hipster branding to boost prices. making beer is failry industrial process and make in factories often called breweries unlike wine where you need vineyards the right climate etc.

i had hopped that coles and woolies would have had james squires or little creatures quality and in 375ml instead of the play lunch 330ml sizes and but at a reduced cost as they strive to get people to consume their home brands.

they copy each other’s soft drinks, beer should be not much harder as they have access to same ingredients from same suppliers.

still don’t know why IPA is always so expensive, can’t be alcohol content and taxes as that doesn’t add up.

      • The homebrand beer targets people who don't know good beer, which is majority of the population :(

A Queensland brewery (Black Hops) published an article on the cost to produce their craft beer:
        http://blackhops.com.au/craft-beer-prices/

  • not sure if it's QLD only but Newstead Brewing Co Session ale cans are $15/6 pack for their new cans this month as well.

  • Dunno if its just me but the John Boston Pale Ales tasted really bad compared to the can version.

    • Age plays a major role (so the bottle could have been over than the can), and cans stay fresher than bottles.

      • I really enjoyed the can ones but the bottle one taste so bad I struggle to finish it :(

  • My husband enjoys the Hogs 3 bourbon so we'll have a few empty bottles at the end of the month. It's a shame to just recycle them because they're pretty bottles.

Does anyone have any craft ideas for these bottles? I've looked around and it's all wine bottles or Jack Daniels bottles when it comes to crafts.
