Android TV for one. I'm sure there are many specs differences people may know of.
Yes. The 8500 is 100Hz for one. Different class.

Just bought one myself as didn't need the extra features.
Just wanted the size
So tempting but I'm still holding out for the 75" Sony X9000E for $3K as that has full array local dimming. I've seen that model hit sub-$5K in the past couple of months so I'm hoping by the time Boxing Day sales roll around it hits the $3K mark.
Be sure to post if $3k for 75“ 😎
Don't think there are any Sony sets that are FALD.
Slim Backlight Drive is just marketing speak for edge lit with lotsa dodads or for the tech geeks out there two rows of LEDs with polarising filter and tubes of light?
I have a x93d and all they added to the slim backlight drive this year was a + for more dimming zones
Huh? The X900E sports local dimming zones with the x8500E and x9300E being edge lit. The only thing I don’t like about FALD is the halo effect you get around white text on black backgrounds but the extra brightness for HDR makes up for it
bought Samsung mu7000 last week…but I love Sony …should wait for this deal…
How does this compare to the 9000?
Grabbed that in last week's ebay birthday discount from the good guys, but still waiting on them to get stock…
9000 is backlit with local dimming. Better contrast if you watch in dark rooms (deeper blacks). More glow on the 8500E. If you only watch in brighter environments the difference is probably smaller.
Not counting the 20% off which is good, but everyone including Sony has dropped the price massively to the same non 20% price.
the aim is for a sony sale price, which most competitors match, i.e. at the moment JB Binglee and sony, and then ebay 20%
Boo I bought this for $2570 at good guys last month.
Looks like sold out
What does one feel about this TV over this one:

Is it a massive difference?
