I have played for quite a while with a 49inch 7000E and although it does not have Android TV OS the Youtube and Netflix apps seem to run very well including smoothness of user interface. The Youtube app is smoother than the Hisense 50N6 in the user interface (although playing is fine). I wonder if Android TV OS might be a bit too cumbersome for the average non techie user (eg the older parents, Wife) and whether a basic UI that just has Netflix & Youtube as buttons on the remote might be more suitable.
I would say yes, it would be. I'm the only one in my family who messes around with all the apps and settings on it. Everyone else just watches TV on it, and if they want to watch Netflix or YouTube, they just cast it.
You could add Android with an external box. Not as convenient, but much cheaper to upgrade in 12 months time, whereas a TV can easily last for 10+ years.
Agreed. I have been looking at the Xiaomi Mi Box (Android TV OS) for $80-$100 but that seems to have a few issues of it's own (eg: no frame rate switching)
$2886 is tempting because it is the cheapest with full array direct backlight rather then edge-lit.
However at $2495 + delivery on Good Guys eBay it was cheaper last wek last week
