Myer Mid-Season Sale - Sunbeam PU6910 Espresso Machine (EM6910) + Grinder (EM0440) $329.00 (was $699.00)

730
CCSELL20

I just received an email from Myer advertising their Mid-Season Sale has now started in-store and online. Among the deals is the Sunbeam PU6910 combo with the EM6910 espresso machine and the EM0440 grinder for only $349.00. If you've missed out on recent coffee machine sales then this one is worth grabbing. I've owned an EM6910 for about 6 years and it's been awesome (I only just upgraded to the EM7000 a couple of months ago).

The grinder is not the best available, it does an okay job but I don't like how it makes a mess everywhere - it certainly isn't as good as the Breville models. So, do what I did and flog it on eBay or Gumtree and it will help offset the cost of the coffee machine.

Free delivery on orders over $100 or click & collect at no charge.

i used to own one of those 6900, made great cup every morning for 5 years ….. sold and upgraded to an em7000 but much cheaper and more convenient than a cafe ……… and comes with a grinder ….. add vittoria at 50% off at coles or woolies and it's savings heaven.

It's called a full stop down this way.

A period is a length or portion of time.

        • lol are you nuts?

        • I believe its called an ellipsis.

        • @Vallani: you are right, it’s an ellipsis, I stand corrected.

    • +7

You're better off no machine and drinking instant coffee if you Vittoria is good.

      • +6

I used to drink hipster coffee blends from the hipster bean shop at $35 kg but the lack of wages growth means I'm stuck with supermarket coffee beans so on special it's vittoria or Lavazza …… they both get down to $18kg at times ….. with 15g shots (doubles) comes down to about 27 cents per double shot, or 13 cents if you use 8g single shot fills.
100ml of milk is 20 cents (the $1 litre full cream not hipster milk like A2, or Soy, or Almond, etc) , so coffee at home doesn't cost much.

        • +1

You know a word has lost all meaning when old people refer to milk as 'hipster'

        • +3

the word milk has lost meaning when when it's applied to soy or almond extract. like clean coal.

when cafes start serving " deconstructed coffee" and trying other ways to try and add value to what costs 50cents a cup to make at home and they sell for $3.50 then i think it must be fashion more than practicality if it's the morning cup.

          as steve martin said
" half caf half decaf no foam with a lemon twist" when he ordered coffee.

        • +1

check out the Aldi coffee beans. It's pretty good and costs about $13kg.

        • +3

ALDI Beans at $12 a Kilo is the best you could get. I have tried various different beans from hipster to supermarket and settled on ALDI beans as the everyday coffee bean. They taste good, nice crema, get good pressure when brewing unlike Shittoria or any other Colesworth coffee bean.

        • @dealspider:

          haha….Shittoria - nice!

        • +1

          @dealspider: +1 for Aldi beans - it's all I use.

        • @S7iCkSt3R: yeah I really like ALDI beans. It is the only supermarket bean that gets the proper brewing pressure on my Breville Coffee machine.

      • Possibly my standards are lower but I don't mind Vittoria beans. I will also order fresh roasted beans from different roasters but I don't find the disparity in quality to as bad as I'm reading here.

        • Possibly your standards measure up against Vittoria because you haven't tried what a great cup of coffee taste like.

        • @FIVEDOLLAR:

          Definitely not possible.

    • +7

You had me until you mentioned Vittoria… Why even have a coffee machine at home if you use that stuff?

      • +2

Still better than instant. Even recently stale cheap beans are better than instant in my experience. Even with cheap stale beans it perks you up in a way that instant just can't and still tastes and smells much better.

    • Better off buying some fresh roasted coffee beans than wasting your money on Shittoria.

    • +2

Vittoria is rubbish - stale beans = rubbish coffee.

The Aldi beans, however, are surprisingly decent for supermarket stuff.

      • But how would the Aldi beans be any better than Vittoria? Who are they supplied by?

  • +2

Very good price. Definitely sell or chuck the grinder and pick up a Breville Smartgrinder when under $200.

    • Is there anything wrong with just getting the coffee bean shop to grind you a week's worth of coffee at a time? That's what I used to do because of the "special beans" the housemates liked to put in the grinder, but they never cleaned the damn thing. So yeah the coffee tasted fine to me and it was only ever a week old at the worst.

      • +2

Most say you need to grind straight into the portfilter to get fresh consistent results if you are using the single wall baskets. You can get away with anything with dual wall baskets if you tamp it well. The em6910 comes with single and dual wall baskets.

        Cafes all use single wall.

        • Cheers. Was about to order one of these but my bank card just expired it looks like. And I haven't updated my address since university, so it'll probably be a week until I get another one. Will have to go into a branch tomorrow to get cash I guess.

      • +3

Once ground, coffee goes stale very fast - within about half an hour.

Would you make sandwiches with bread that has been left out overnight and is stale? You could, but it's horrible compared to fresh stuff.

        • I guess when you put it like that..

      • That's what I used to do because of the "special beans" the housemates liked to put in the grinder

I laughed while watching Matt Okine's new cooking show and the older lady he was cooking with was like "and I'll bet a young bloke like you wouldn't have even seen one of these" pointing towards a cheap coffee grinder. They're much more popular in the 18-25 uni student demographic than you'd expect! haha

Use the code CCSELL20 for an extra $20 off. Worked for me thank you. mmmm coffee…..

  • Wow, cheapest ive ever seen this

I think i paid a touch over 400 and i thought i got the deal of the century

  • out of stock already?

    • Not yet in Gold Coast. Limited stock available in Robina.

    • I got 'out of stock' on my laptop - but when I used my mobile I was able to order

Have wanted to try "machine coffee" for a long time … @ $329 it tipped me over the edge. Thanks to OP and cookiesYUM for the code.

    • Buy some fresh roasted whole coffee beans. Personally I buy mine from mycuppa; I love their chocolatey caramel Columbian Excelso (single origin and organic).

Same here. Never owned a coffee machine before, but have been on the look out for a few months.

Missed out on the EM7000 for $399 @ GoodGuys a few weeks back, so when this deal came up I decided to go for it.

While looking for my Myer One card I found an old $100 gift card that expires this month and was still good! $229 all up for me and was a real steal.

Now on to find some decent coffee beans.

  • It's a great machine. I managed to score my set when it was 6 months old, and aside from needing to replace the group head seal once a year, it's been a great machine. The grinder does make quite a mess unfortunately.

  • I've got the EM7000 + Breville combo as well, but this is certainly a great deal for those who don't want to fork out as much as that.

    • em7000 and the smart grinder and you can make better coffee than most cafes as some skimp on how much coffee they use to keep costs down, at home you can add as much as you like.

  • +1

How much does the grinder sell for?

    • Which grinder? The very average one in this Sunbeam combo, new if you got it in a shop $150-170 (I don't think you can buy it separately). Maybe $50-100 if you sell it unused on eBay/gumtree. The Breville Smartgrinder, normal is mid $200's, but occasionally under $200 (like $180-ish).

      • My wife bought me this grinder separately although mine has a light grey base. I think she may have paid around $100 it on special at Good Guys online.

  • Desktop website said out of stock but was able to get through mobile site for some reason.

Also had to turn off adblocker as it was causing issues with the shopping cart.

  • Got one for my mate as his wedding present, perfect timing! Thanks OP

  • Breville are going broke, beware.

  • +1

Would you all stop pressuring me into buying a coffee machine I only sort of need plz

    • Reviews for the 6910 are fantastic too…

  • I've have the same model grinder for a couple of months. It is a little messy when grinding straight into the basket (make sure you attach the rubber tap thingy). The grind itself seems quite good although I've read a few reports where some units dont have the bur attached correctly and the grind is too coarse (I think this is just a matter of reseating it yourself).

Another tip is to give the top of the bean hopper a few taps after grinding as this will make any leftover grounds fall out so you dont end up with stale coffee grounds next time, I think its these grounds that get a little stuck in the chute and make the process a bit messy.

  • Thank Op , bought one , this is the first coffee machine (bean ) , hope it will be better than the Aldi Pod machine.

  • Thanks OP. I had 200 credits at work. Used them to get a $200 myer card that they sent by email just now. So that $129 out of my own pocket :)

  • Thanks great deal, I have this machine and a better grinder already, but it is cheaper to buy a new one and sell the grinder than it was to service the old one. Love the machine cant wait to open it up

  • Ordered one last night, got an email the order was cancelled.

    • Well I ordered another one for click and collect straight after I received the notice. There was stock at the store I selected. No email was received to pickup the goods. I tried calling Myer. Was on hold for an hour. Then called the store, they put me to Myer customer service 3 times, and each time, nobody picked up. This morning I finally managed to get in contact with Myer. They informed me they took the payment, but no order was created, and now they don't have stock. To add to it, it will take 5 business days for a refund. What a crappy online order system they have.

      • Similar story here
Ordered for click and collect - cancelled within a few hours as it was out of stock even though the website showed in stock after cancelletion
Ordered again for delivery - cancelled late yesterday due to no stock

        • With mine, I didn't even get a order confirmation. Payment went through and I was informed I will be getting an email for order confirmation. When I finally contacted Myer, they had no record of my order. They told me, their system takes your money first, and then sorts out stock and order confirmation, and if anything happens at any point, your money goes into a black hole.

  • How much better is this than the Sunbeam EM4300? I am considering this but dont have much kitchen bench space..

    • I wonder often what the best coffee machine that you can buy that has an integrated decent grinder that has a super small footprint on the kitchen bench.

  • My order went thru after 10 error messages and got a confirmation mail 2 hours ago. The code worked and paid $329 and free delivery.

  • So my local store (garden city Brisbane) was showing stock, so I went in to buy it but he couldn’t find it (the box was out back but the displays weren’t out - probably sold individually). But he checked the system and said that there are a few around, and to do a phone order with those stores.

North Lakes has one, but it is missing a grinder - the guy thinks he’ll be able to replace/substitute it, but I didn’t go for it as I found some in another store, and ordered it over the phone with them.

The other store I got told to try was Sydney city - apparently they have a few left. I won’t post this as a deal, because it probably won’t meet the minimum quantity rules.
