Sony Ericsson C905 appears to be for $69 on Vodafone prepaid on their website.

SE C905 is a 8MP phone with and retailed for $700+ when it was new, and it appears you can have it for as low as $99 now on Vodafone prepaid.

Not sure with unlocking and such, though rather old now,the phone would be handy as a spare phone, or one for the young one!

Requires you to purchase a recharge, so $69+$29=$98

Note: Not sure if this is confirmed for such an insane price (its $32/m repayments on plan?), however that is what is shown. Really doubt if this deal is correct (most likely an error), but if anyone wants to try, feel free!

    • I just got mine….
after endless hours calling the customer care line,
and being told the phone was out of stock…
      oh well…. happy now.

    • Yes I have received it last night. I am in Melbourne. Unlocking is free via vodafone website.

  • Phones just arrived (Melbourne) Can't believe I actually got them. Still going to go through with my TIO complaint due to the hours and hours spent on the phone to Vodafone customer service.

    • can we somehow make a mass complaint?
I think we'll get heard better that way.

      • I'm in. I have all my records and transcripts of support emails, etc. Just tell me where to send it and what the Case/Ref number is.

My local Fair Trading compliant has been closed because I finally actually have the product I paid for.

I think we need everyone to gather all the records that we have.

There are probably two issues at hand.

Firstly, the really crappy customer service, no information, no nothing etc. I doubt that any TIO or fair trading can do much in relation to this. Because, well its just really crappy service.

The second issue is probably more relevant. If indeed vodafone has sent out the phones with a empty prepaid sim card systematically (instead of the 30 dollar 365 day sim). Then we can argue that Vodafone failed to fulfil their half of the sales contract, and it probably breaks other codes as well. The key thing is to prove that this is systematic, if its just one off, its a error. If its 100 off then they are trying to scam people.

    • Have just received a call from Vodafone re TIO complaint. Lady I spoke with was very nice, I had a real good whinge to her! Anyway, she listened and said she would pass on my feedback. I guess we got our phones in the end but Vodafone customer service really does suck.

I received mine today, I'm in QLD.
    Edit - Didn't come with a Prepaid 365 $30 Starter Plan sim.
Came with a 'Direct Response Prepaid Sim' Which I activated online
    http://selfserve.myvodafone.com.au/registerme/activateRedSim…
Checked the balance - No credit. Ah, rang Vodafone and explained.
Gave my order number, was told $30 credit will be applied.
Checked & yes $30 credit for 365 days - Took about 20min. Damn Lara, hate her.
I too was able to unlock for 'FREE' [no details came up for credit card information]
    https://unlock.vodafone.com.au/voila/handsetunlock/self-serv…
Mobile came with a 2Gb M2 memory card already installed in memory card slot. [near charger/USB connector]
No CD Software - Leaflet with link to online http://www.sonyericsson.com/support
My online status is - Order being processed [ain't changed, even though I have the mobile]
    https://shop.vodafone.com.au/order-status-login
Thank you to all, and I guess the moral of the story is be patient :-)
I have my unlock code. Are they all different? [depending on IMEI]

  • Received phone… but.. now there is a new problem.
Vodafone won't activate my service (because the activation people cannot see my order details).

Also, I did not receive a Prepaid 365 $30 Starter Plan sim. Just an ordinary sim.

    • Just go oneline and activate it yourself if you can.

Let me see if I can answer everyone questions. I might need two goes!

    • I am in the ACT.
    • The handset is Vodafone marked, but you can peel the label off below the screen if you wish. I don't think it looks too bad. Prefer that to having "Vodafone" looking at me everytime as it's quite upsetting after this event.
    • The handset has Vodafone Firmware and logos in the OS.
    • I have never checked the Order Status as it is obvious nothing is going to be correct with this order
    • I got a 2GB Card installed in the phone.
    • I got a Pre-Paid SIM card with NO CREDIT.
On first contact they tried to tell me the $30 credit was "bonus" credit and I needed to purchase a recharge of my own before it would appear. I argued that it wasn't really "Bonus" credit as I had been charged for it and it was listed on my invoice as 365Day Credit…so how could it be "Bonus"! They agreed and have told me to email in the SIM Phone Number and PIN codes, and they will fix it with "priority".
    • I emailed in to [[email protected]] and attached the email from my Fair Trading enquiry to push things along. Make sure you follow the instructions and type between the lines indicated to reply. Make sure you reply every time, even more than once. They will often reply back with a complete misunderstanding, as if trying to buy time by looking as if they are trying to help, but they are not. Just stick with it. When you go to TIO or Consumer Affairs / Fair trading you will have a record of "in-action" on their part
    • Yes I do have an idea of how many hours I have wasted, I documented each time and added it to my complaints case. Yesterday was from 3:35pm to 5:15pm (1hr 35min), and I had still not managed to speak to a person. I was on hold the entire time.
    • Yes, the box does say it's free to unlock:
      http://home.exetel.com.au/apcs/c905/unlockfree.jpg
I have unlocked mine and now have my virgin SIM in it.
    • I too agree, if I had paid $600 odd for this handset I would be very disappointed. The keyboard is crap, the slide is loose and plasticy. It all just feels cheap. You'd nearly think this was a cheap chinese knockoff.
    • Very easy to setup. Have WiFi and internet/email going in just a few minutes, and completely without the manual.
    • Does anyone else think it's funny that the manual refers to the CDROM, but there's a leaflet stating the CDROM is NOT included?!!!

I think I have covered everyones questions?

    • i think with 100$, this phone is worth
you can not find any phone under 100$ is worth like this
No CD include is not problem
you can search on google for anything or you can go to sonyericsson website and dowload sotfware you want

  • Does anyone know any tricks to transfer the $30 credit to my sisters Vodafone prepaid number?? I'm with Virgin, and Vodafone is just too expensive for me.

Was thinking when she runs out of credit, port her existing number to the new SIM, and use up the credit that way? But can you transfer [port] an existing pre-paid Vodafone number to a new Prepaid Vodafone SIM?

  • i already activated online
and this sim show Flixible cap, and no credit

    can anyone help me please!

    • This seems like the standard 2 dollar sim card and the default activation for it is flexicap.

  • got mine today ;) Perth
1st impression: crap, it takes M2
2nd impression: woee it has 2GB M2 in the phone, guess i don't have to buy a bigger one lol

  • Received today in Melbourne, thanks to the above posters regarding unlocking information and included 2gb m2 card.

Oh and big whoop about the delay, I can't get mad at all when the phone is at this price.

  • So did anyone actually receive a 365 days 30 dollar starter pack? Or did you just receive one of those 2 dollar sims that you can buy from the shop?

FYI, haven't received my order yet (in Melbourne)

    • in my case
      just a sim, no credit
and when i activated, this show flexible cap and no credit

i don't know what is happening with another person

    • I haven't activated my sim, I just unlocked it and put a Telstra one straight in but I am assuming that it is the same as everyone else. I do think that it may well be worth calling the TIO if you want to take this matter up as you will receive a call back from someone from the dedicated TIO complaints section of Vodafone based in Hobart. The lady I spoke with was much better to deal with than the Mumbai call centre.

Also I am wondering what chance I would have of ringing and asking for the $30 to be credited back to my credit card, as I did not receive what I paid for and I really don't want it anyway….or is that just being cheeky ;)

      • Me too. Rather thave the cash back than stuff around trying to get the credit I paid for, and really don't want at all.

Even if they gave me two recharge vouchers I could give/sell to my mates on VF.

  • Ok i got it today afternoon

    I am in the Melbourne.
The handset is Vodafone marked, firmware and logo in it, so can't edit 2 of the shortcut key
I have never checked the Order Status it still being process.
The phone is lock, it’s free to unlock as the red sticker state.
In the box there are phone, USB cable, manual, M2 card reader, charger, head phone,
2GB M2 card in the phone, no CD rom
Pre-Paid SIM card with has NO CREDIT.

Just feel like it's an OEM phone. but it's ok with $99 worth, will try to get $30 credit tomorrow.

  • did anyone know how to get 30$ credit?

    please help me

    • I had to ring and explain, they credited me $30 for 365 days.

    • I gave vodafone a call and they solved the matter within about 5 minutes.
I did call at 11 am when not much people were calling in…

      • I'm on my third email, as they credited me with $30 of Flexicredit, that expires on 01Jan2011.

As I don't need the credit, I'm just chasing it now by email only so they dig themselves a deeper hole for the TIO complaint and I have it all recorded in writing.

  • is this deal stil available?

    • Its sold out now.

  • Hi Guys,
Seems everyone is (somewhat) happy now! Anyway can anyone tell me if they have worked out how to change the pre-set keys, in particular the vodafone live key. I would like to change it to messages but I can not work it out at all.
    Thanks

    • I think the soft keys are set for good.
only way to reset them is to "unbrand" the phone by putting in firmware somehow….
      dont really remember full details

      • thanks.

    • +1

Yup, I'm looking for the same thing. Thinking a dodgy install of OEM firmware is the only way to fix it? And that will void your warranty as an "un-authorised modification".

  • Hi! Does anyone living in Perth want to sell this phone for less than $200? My friend wants one but she missed out on the deal lol.

    Thank you

    • I would suggest your friend get something like the Huawei Ideos, Crazy Johns prepaid at 169 or unlocked from DSE at 229.

The C905 is pretty good for a sub 100 dollar phone, but if you are looking at 200, the Ideos would be a better bet.

  • -1

hey guys, i was wondering if anyone wants to sell their brand new c905(if they dont like it or something)for less then $100?

  • i receieved the phone but the promised 29$ voucher is missing.

Did any one get the voucher along with the phone/?

    • if you look on the back of the sim pack. It asks you to call up and activate the sim over the phone, and you also need to provide your invoice/order number to get the credit. I assume that the credit will then be added to your new number.
