Travelling to Warrnambool Via Public Transport from Narre Warren [Vic]

Hi all.

I'm looking at travelling to Warrnambool from Narre Warren and it seems that via public transport (train) it about 5.5 hours. I don't have a car ATM.

Anyone know if there's bus or coaches to head to that direction a bit quicker?

  • Can you be more specific than just "south east Victoria "?

It's coming up as 4 hours and 5 minutes from the CBD for me.

If you want to save time hire a car and drive

    • narre warren

      • 5 hours sounds right then.

        Can you hire a car?

        • i suppose i could. not sure what the rental cost/insurance/pertol will cost me. But 5 hours on a train is too long imo

Trains are notoriously slow and late travelling on the Warrnambool line. Buses are slower still.

  • gumtree rideshare (but your co-pilot will likely want to go via great ocean road)

  • Plug in the address of where you want to go in Google Maps. Use the directions functionality and select public transport as your mode of transport. It should give you several options for how to travel, the times they depart and the amount of time it will take you to get there.

  • thanks, i might wait until i get a car available. PT just seems to be too slow.

Its a vline train. Lots of space, enjoy the time and the country side. Its nicer on the train, compared to a bus. You can get up, walk around, there are toilets on board etc and last time I did that train, there was a food car too.

Took me six hours to get home to Cranny from Warrnambool last time I traveled down by public transport (April this year). Ongoing track works on the V-Line part meant a coach from Warrnambool to Geelong. Fortunately we went direct to Geelong rather than having to stop at all stations in-between, like the poor buggers who had to spill over onto the coach behind us. When I arrived back to Southern Cross, work for the Level Crossing Removal Project meant that I had a train bus between Caulfield and Dandenong and train combination to get me back to Cranny station. It took a lifetime, and cost about $35 bucks each way. Train was crammed with people and neither particularly clean or pleasant.

You'd be better to hire a car from rent a bomb for about 30 bucks a day, and have your own steam, so to speak.

Rent a bomb wont let you take a car to Warnambool, the major rental companies will normally cheaper rates on the weekend.

I've never had trouble travelling on country trips with a Rent a bomb in the past. Perhaps things have changed.
