The updated version of Digoo's rival to the Ring wifi door bell. It now uses 18520 batteries (so longer life than the model it replaces & can have spares on charge to quickly replace) or can be powered via the usb port. 1080p resolution. Save up to 100 video clips to 'cloud' storage (no subscription cost, older videos get overwritten). No separate chime available yet, but apparently 'coming soon'. Two different versions - same internals, just pick the one you think looks best.

You need to explain why you are posting that link instead of just throwing it up there and wasting peoples time IMO.

Wasting time? That's not how I'd classify your health. Mum would agree. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JojdEH0nzos
Ahh, reading About page on link has Dr. Devra Davis which suddenly makes sense. Nothing like a good scare campaign to flog your new book.

Might want to report on her response before mouthing off. Lovely how you ignore studues showing it's far from harmless, instead choosing to focus on the sales of a book (to get word out) as some kind of financial motive but ignoring billion-dollar industries selling wireless devices, who have most to benefit by keeping the sheeple in the dark.
The critical 'banned' shows are the ones you should be paying atrention to. They actually say something critical of a mulribillion-dollar industry proven by science not to be harmless.
Just another person who refuses to look deeper, like 99.999%. Ignoring the science and ignoring the financial motives of the industry.
Damn that non-ionizing radiation…
ITS EVERYWHERE!
Wont someone think of the children!
Great comment…is it pulsed?
In conclusion, long-term exposure to 2.4GHz RF radiation (Wi-Fi) does not cause DNA damage of the organs investigated in this study except testes indicating that testes are more sensitive organ to RF radiation.
And to think I have wasted all that money on condoms!
Another great comment…
Reviews on the older model seem very average, would probably wait for some review on this one?
Lack of a dedicated chime (unless you use an old mobile), delay from button being pressed and the app sending an alert, short battery life were all reasons why I decided not to get the older model. I checked on the Ring but people seemed to have similar issues - I didn't like the fact the battery version was 720p (so resolution not so great), people complained about the battery life of that (some had to recharge every 3 months or so, and to recharge required removing the unit and plugging it into power for a while), when including the Ring chime it was maybe $200 if lucky but usually much more than that….. but the two things that really killed the Ring for me was being locked into paying an annual fee for their cloud if you wanted to save/record video and the requirement to have a minimum of 2Mb uploads otherwise the already ordinary video was even worse (and my current cable service generally tops out at just over 1Mb). The wired Chime "Pro" fixed a number of issues by being constantly powered - but it would have meant having to run power to it and it didn't fix the issue with upload speed and you still have to pay for their cloud.
This new version ticked a number of boxes for me:
* It is cheap - ich bin ein ozbargainer
* It uses 18250 batteries rather than AAs - can get some decent LG/Samsung/whatever 18650 batteries and have on charge to quickly replace
* It saves video to internal memory - 8Gb included - so video quality good (and I suspect that it uses a microsd card so may be able to be upgraded to save more locally - it's not mentioned in the manual or specs so will see when mine arrives)
* It also saves 100 * 10s videos to 'the cloud' at no ongoing cost
* It may not yet have a chime available to purchase, but it is planned - so short term can live with a mobile, but medium term will get a chimePart of me also wanted to wait until there had been some reviews, but this special 3 day sale combined with it literally only just being released (so probably will be a while before it drops to this price again) made me go 'what the heck'.
oh, and they claim to have improved the response time to 2 seconds from button being pressed to alert on the mobile "which is greatly ensure the free comfortable to use experience"….. will see.
Exactly why I ordered 1 also.
so how is this doorbell? Looking at getting one. Thanks.
Without a separate chime, I will wait as I need it to work standalone
If you've got a spare phone, try to use that as a separate chime for now.
Not sure if it's any good and I'd want a chime too before replacing my existing doorbell, but credit due for the comical Kim Jong Un references on that site - especially the before and after comparing it to the prior model!
What does "No separate chime" mean?
I'm new to the world of video doorbells. Does it mean this is a motion (or button) activated video camera at your door, but NOT a doorbell that you can hear from inside the house?I'm waiting for someone to chime in on this too
As it is, the speaker in the doorbell itself will ring, and your phone will ring.
There is no separate ringer to go elsewhere inside your house, meaning you may not hear it if you're not near the door or your phone.
Banggood says there will be a ringer addon available later.
Sounds like a major design flaw then.
Any existing doorbell comes with a separate ringer so it can be heard centrally, inside. Even the door alone will block noise, and some may have multiple doors e.g. hall, foyer between outside and the central part.
While these limitations may work for some people, it's not a good design.
It's not really a design flaw - it has been designed to have one, but it just isn't available yet. They say one is coming, so on that assumption I got one (as it's discounted) and will play with it for a while first…. But not install it out the front until the chime is available, or maybe I'll just whack an old mobile onto the wall.
Keep in mind the Ring doesn't come with a chime either, but has to be purchased separately (and the chime can cost - if you don't get it on special - as much as this thing - eg https://www.bunnings.com.au/ring-doorbell-chime_p4211393)
What does "No separate chime" mean?
It means it will only ring your phone when the door bell is activated. If your phone is muted, you won't hear anything. Separate chime is something you will plug inside your house so it will make a sound when door bell is activated even without your phone.
a spare phone permanently charging may do the trick, tempted to try this myself…
Just ordered 1 to have a play with and see how good it is. This might not come with an English instruction manual, so please download from the below link.

so how is this doorbell? Looking at getting one. Thanks.
Never ended up receiving one, so got a refund and ended up buying a Reolink Argus from their website for US $99. Camera is really good and I have put it at the front door, and it works as a doorbell too. Been using it for 3 days and really happy with the outcome. Hope this helps.
Just ordered, lets see how it goes!
Pity I couldn't use my points or coupons though :/Tried to order it, but it says it's sold out.
Just tried it again and it processed correctly this time, but now I have two of them in my Order history with one of them "Pending Payment" WTF!?!
Just contact them to cancel the pending one.
Cannot check out as there is no payment option? Deal expire?
Thanks. Bought one and will see how it goes.
Not much info on the net as it seems to be newly released.Just recently notice the item is out of stock.
Anyone else keep getting told it's delayed?
yes, second time round.
Same
Has anyone actually received or even been told it's on it's way?
This is ridiculous!I most recent ETA I was told is 7th November.
Nuts. I most recently saw 28/10. I feel like I signed up to a Kickstarter project…..
Well, September they emailed me to say 2/10, I said ok, they emailed back and changed it to 7/11.
I ordered early and was able to use points as well at that time, pretty cheap so not too fussed to wait. Here's hoping they'll have the indoor ringer unit ready to go at the same time (and in the name of great customer service include it free :)
What bugs me is that they're still advertising it, yet apparently can't provide.
It's on the site but they're not taking orders for it any more.
That single 5 star review on there must be so legit too :)
Starting to feel like the picture of kim jong un using the binoculars and laughing actually laughing at me for being a sucker waiting for an item that will never be shipped.
Anyone know why the delay?
Everytime I asked them, they only replied with out of stock and will notify when back in stock, but keep receiving new in stock date.
How come a newly released item is out of stock, have they actually sent out even 1?I'm interested in this, but the previous model I bought SB-XYZ is a total bust.
On android the app is horrible. Works fine when the app is open, but as soon as you close the app, it wont ring. Looking at the reviews, this is quite a common issue.
Id buy the newer version if it actually works, mind you, for the money I spent on the old crap one and the newer model, I could have bought a Ring one…
Still nothing, just continually dates when they say will be in stock.
I'm over it, almost 2 months since ordering!
I've told them to refund and bill me at the same cost if/when in stock (& include seperate chime because of the problem).
Got sick of continual promised dates so cancelled.
They said when (or if) in stock, I can purchase at same price.
FWIW Saw this on their facebook page: (https://www.facebook.com/DigooTeam/photos/a.1080530268652758…)
Way I read it, if you cancel the order you will get a coupon allowing you to order again for the original discounted price, when it becomes available. Or you can continue to wait and it might be delivered before Christmas. There is also mention of the separate indoor chime option, although (from a different post) it sounds like that won't be available until early next year.
~~A Letter of Apology~~
Dear all customers,
Good day! Many thanks for giving us so much support.
We sincerely apologize for a series of delays to our new generation smart doorbell, DG-XYA.
This new doorbell can work with indoor unit through RF connection, which means that it can ring on both the smart device and the indoor chime when you press the bell. This doorbell should be delivered to your place on Oct 15th. But unfortunately, the supplier of indoor units sent us the wrong doorbells after two weeks of the pre-sale.
Since it happened, we have done everything we could. But we were in a dilemma whether to send XYA without the indoor unit or an equipped indoor unit. That means you won't have the indoor chime if you choose XYA without the indoor unit. For this, we also have been under the immense pressure for the last two months.
We totally understand that you were so pleasantly surpirsed when you knew the bell presales $39.99 only. We also understand your disappointment when you have to wait for one month or more. Again, we sincerely apologize to you all.
We are doing our best to deliver your goods by the fastest way before Christmas. If you canceled order before, we are willing to offer you a coupon. Then you can buy this doorbell by $39.99 agian. Please feel free to contact us. Many thanks.
Looking forwar to your kindly reply.
Best Regards,
From Digoo TeamWhat I don't understand from that statement is all that about indoor chime. From the beginning they were saying the indoor chime wasn't ready, and would be available to purchase later.
Are they now trying to say it was supposed to have come with it initially? Or are they saying the XYA's the supplier sent wouldn't have worked at all with an indoor unit.
Anyway, in the comments they are saying the door bell will start shipping next week. Hopefully that's true.
Someone also asked about a discount for the indoor chime when it's ready and they said to PM them about it when it's (supposedly) available in Jan.
OMG. Shipped today.
Here's hopin' I get an email soon saying the same thing…
BTW, did you order type A1 or A2?
Mine still hasn't shipped, but got a notification that they are in stock.
Had a look though and the A1 that I ordered already says out of stock, only the A2 available.
That doesn't look promising to me…Ah. I flipped the proverbial virtual coin and went for the A2…..
so how is this doorbell? Looking at getting one. Thanks.
See below. It's ok-ish but I would hesitate recommending it unless you can get it for the $50 mark. I would not get it if you have a less than 2Mbps upload speed (eg cable - same issue with the Ring). I would also recommend waiting until the chime comes out for it.
I contacted them, still no ETA on the A1 style, only A2 in stock. Preferred the look of A1 but seems I might have to go with A2 if I want to see it any time soon, although I really need the indoor chime to go with it anyway.
BTW, despite still being listed for US$99.99 on Banggood, they are selling it on eBay under their various seller names for ~AU$75. Some listings show only A2 in stock, some show both.
… and interestingly, messaged eBay seller beautyzz2009 (who I've purchased from before, paypal went to banggood) asking if A1 they are selling is actually in stock and they've told me it is…
Arrived today. Will charge up and see how it goes…..
Nice.. Mine is on it's way. Had to switch to A2 in the end.
Short review:
It still needs work. Be aware I suspect you may have issues if you have upload speeds less than 2Mbps (eg cable).Longer review:
Smaller than I expected, which is good. Is solid plastic - the cover is plastic with a metallic finish - so would not want it to fall on the ground as doubt it would survive the experience well. Borderline cheap looking, but not too bad. Had about 10% charge when it arrived, took overnight to charge to 100%.Setting up with the app (in my case android) was slightly confusing due to weird Chinese to English translations, but managed it in the end. Basically, the app connects via bluetooth and then you configure the doorbell with your wifi details. Once setup, could see the charge and answer the doorbell and view saved videos. Can also remotely connect to the doorbell to view live video - if it has gone into power save mode you need to first tap on the icon to wake it up, then tap again to view video (so takes a few seconds to do). App did not have to be running for the 'phone to start notifying - uses the classic iPhone ring tone. Slightly weird thing - you tap on the answer or reject button, not swipe. Anyhow:
* Quality of video is meh. Colour fringing and blur on the edges.
* From when the bell rings, to when the mobile rings is fairly quick - maybe a couple of seconds or less
* The unit itself is compact
* You can replace the batteries yourself so, when they go flat or die, you can quickly get the doorbell up and running - but to do so requires both removing the doorbell from the wall (one screw if you use the included plate) and six more screws hidden behind some rubber plugs. A hassle, but I rate this as a positive compared to the rival battery powered Ring
* It works when charging, but that means having a cable coming out the side of the unit so providing it with constant power is not really feasible unless you hacked the case.
* The 'free' cloud service works - it saves ten seconds of the video started from when the bell is pressed. It won't record the entire conversation, but it is free. Again, this is a positive compared to the Ring.
* It has a passive IR sensor that can be enabled to sense movement and maybe improve response by waking up before the button is pressed, but it will shorten the battery life (no idea by how much yet). There is no option to select a specific area to watch.
* Setting it up via the app is weird, but possible
* It only supports 2.4Ghz wifi so will be more subject to interference
* The doorbell does not come with an internal chime - you have to use an old mobile on the wall or wait for the chime to be released
* The app only supports one doorbell
* Via the app you apparently can 'invite' people to your group - I assume that means they can then create an account on the cloud service and be notified when the doorbell rings etc. Will see.
* the app seems to use a fair amount of battery on my mobile - that may be because I've been playing with it a lot, but will need to keep an eye on that.I have however struck some possible issues most likely due to my low internet upload speed (1Mbps):
* Resolution seems low - I think it is reducing it to cope with my low upload speed. There is no manual option to see or set quality.
* Once you tap on "answer" it takes time to setup a secure connection from the mobile to the doorbell. It appears that is via their external "cloud" service, so even if you are at home the video performance may be restricted by your local upload speed. I'd note this is an issue with the "Ring" doorbells as well.
* I had two victims this morning who rang the bell whilst I was away. The first I missed the alert on my mobile (was in a noisy area, so I can't blame the app). The second I answered, but it failed to setup that secure link so I couldn't see or talk to the visitor - that was a fail.Overall at $50 it was worth a try, but I would not pay more for it than that. I'll be interested to hear what people think of the video quality if they have faster upload speeds than me.
I wonder if the 1mbps upload is the reason my Dafang is unusable outside of my home network too.
NBN has just rolled out in my area but I'm still on ADSL, will have to see if I have the same issues when my Digoo arrives. (I see it landed somewhere in Aus on Thursday.. up to Auspost now, maybe I'll see it this week sometime.)
NBN was going to be rolled out here, but HFC which is currently on hold due to "technical issues" (I heard they were using bad connectors on the cables and are having to replace them). I thought about using my mobile (4G - gets pretty decent speeds) as an AP and seeing what happens…. left that in the something to do basket. With the dafang I think you can drop the resolution through the app, but yeah quite likely. Just ran speedtest and got 1.27Mbps. Will be interested to hear how you go when your doorbell arrives!
FWIW My doorbell has not been rung for over a day. Just tried waking it up by the app - nothing. Had to press the doorbell button and it worked…. battery is now at 84% after three days. At that rate it will last about two months between charges - hopefully it's just settling in, plus of course the first day or so I played with it a fair bit…..
