1800w Ozito Electric Chainsaw $75 Was $99 (25% off) @ Bunnings

100

Really cheap price for a decent chainsaw. On the website so it should be nationwide
Price Hipster

Do you have trees that have thick limbs that need chopping? Or do you have a fireplace and need to cut up the wood you pick up from the curb?
This could be the chainsaw for you. Unlike petrol chainsaws, electric chainsaws are pretty basic in design, so you don't get a whole lot more by spending big. They come up fairly often at aldi or ebay, but rarely for less than $100, so this price is a 25% discount.

While they are electric, which means you need to use a long extension cord, if you're not going bush they have a lot of advantages over the petrol or battery type.

For one they're light. Lugging around a heavy chainsaw gets old. Fast
They're also much quieter, because you don't an engine chugging away. They're cheaper to run, don't have to worry about mixing up fuel or charging batteries, and have plenty of grunt. Safer too, as I would argue that the presence of a cord makes me consider each cut twice as carefully.
My only regret is not buying one sooner.

Stock is limited so if you want one be quick. If you're in SE Vic, moorabbin had none but mentone had like 4 when I checked yesterday. If you're going to mentone you should check out my other post, it has a lot of deals in it

Mods yes this is a double post, but the other one is store specific while this is nationwide so I think it deserves its own post.

Edit: Okay, just found that Aldi have the same chainsaw for $80 this week. This is obviously another pathetic attempt by bunnings to overshadow them by knocking a few bucks off, so go support Aldi if you can find one with stock.

    Good saw.
From memory if comes dry so you will also need some bar oil.
A full face mask is also a good idea.

    • Funny you say that. I picked one up and literally 3 bunnings people came up to me and said that.
Myself, I use old motor oil. Its not as thick so it doesn't last as long, but I got plenty of it anyway

Face mask is a good idea. At the very least glasses and ear protection.

Careful of using old motor oil, if it's used sump oil the fine metallic particles still suspended can play havoc with the oiling system and can also lead to excessive wear on the chain and bar, too. If it's just old motor oil that's never been used then it will be better but, as you've said, it will go a lot quicker.

I've tried both and I'll stick with proper chain & bar oil all the time.

        • too expensive.

        • @jv:

Yes but it comes with hair.

        • @Scab:

          cheaper here…

Might get a couple for my kids for next year's book week.

why buy the mask if you can DIY, just get the saw!

        • Just FYI, your comment can have legal consequences, if jv is stupid enough to act on it.

        • @vodkamilkshake:

I hope someone is watching out for the children as well.

        • @Scab: Children will be fine, it's jv I'm worried about.

        • @vodkamilkshake:

I think JV has an 18+ rating.

  • Do these work off a power bank?

Had one of these. The Chain bar is held on with plastic lugs….. which surprisingly break.

    • Same as the aldi one.
