  • ■Pair of aluminium roof racks

I think it's $79.99 for 2, not for an individual rack.

    • Agreed. "Pr" means for the pair, not per rack.

Lol how useless would 1 rack be!

        • +5

I've been racking my brain with how you could use one

        • +1

I have seen many utes with only 1 then a frame over the tray

  • More details on the roof racks:

Aldi page points to 4x4 tough.

90kg load capacity, only suitable for vehicles with raised roof rails.

I have these roof racks. It is ok, I got it because it is rated for 90kgs, as most similar price range ones that I have found at the time were only rated for about 75kgs. I don't have a lot of experience with roof racks, the only 2 minor complaints I have are the black plastic bits at the end falls off easily(easily fixed if you superglue them on) and that the roof racks makes a whistling sound when travelling at speed.

Edit: and yes, it is $79.99 for 2.

    • Agree with whistling and black bits that fall off. I taped mine.
I take them off when not using to prevent the whistle from getting from to me

    • AH is that what causes the whistling.
Weirdly enougt I've also got the cargo tray, that has stopped the whistling.

I bougth all 3 (rack, basket, bag) 3-4yrs ago, The bag is great because it opens out, so I just shove soft things like pilows, sheets, towels, etc in, zip it up & tie it down on top of other things in the basket (chairs, etc). Tent, beds, etc on the rack beside it. Rope & ratchet tie them down.

I've got a set of these, Ive had for 3 years. Used several times.

They work, they hold, i haven't had a problem with them.

I've only loaded them to maybe 70kg in total.

At this price I'm thinking of getting a set for my push bike.

Most people just use saddle bags, but I guess if you need to carry 90kg on your push bike…

      :P

  • I think this is not suitable for Nissan X-Trail 2008,T-31 model. Any recommendations please ?

    • +1

I got some from Repco when they were on special for the T31

      • May I know the price and model details please?

    • How come this isn't suitable for a T31?

      • These roof racks are ONLY suitable for vehicles with raised roof rails that do not sit flush on the vehicles roof. X-Trail does not have Raised roof rails.

  • +1

Can also be combined with the $99 roof tray

  • 4WD Capacitor Batteryless Jump Starter

Am I right in that you could actually use your battery that is too discharged to start your car, and start your car with this device?

Seems to be true if a car won't start at 11v but this can charge the capacitor at 7.6v or more.

  • anyone know if this works on a Tiguan? Fathers day pressie

  • Rather than everyone (myself included) posting "Will this fit my car"
Is there an easy way for each of us to work out if it will? Probably just look at the picture in the 4x4 link above.

The statement on the site is "Please Note: These roof racks are ONLY suitable for vehicles with raised roof rails that do not sit flush on the vehicles roof." which eliminates literally ever Sedan I've ever seen. (

Most of us have cars with flat black strips embedded in the roof, and holes for brackets… which are not suitable for this rack.

    • err it is the Aldi "4WD Adventure Gear" section…

    • There are product manuals available on the 4x4 tough website.

  • Anyone seen any of the roof cages left anywhere in Melbourne?
