LOLL… that deserves a + on its own!

Not sure everyone got the joke…

    • Mind to explain a bit?

      • +3

At this point in time 60+ people got it.

  • +8

    $45 delivered to wa.

ANAWELCOM gives $10 off first order.

  • +5

No gears sounds like hard work.

    • +2

I only ride them down hills.

    • +11

So do perfectly trimmed beards, but you don't see the Hipsters complaining.

    • +3

Fixies are really only good for cycles without a bunch of hills. The up side is that they're generally cheaper, they break less without the gear mechanisms, are cheaper to fix, and (if it's your thing) have a more streamlined profile.

For the record, I'm gears all the way, but a fixie may work fine for certain crowds.

    • +3

If you live somewhere flat, it's fine. I would advise any potential fixie heroes to use the brakes.

  • Ahh, steel is real.

    Nice price for it.

    • +2

for the price it is a steel.

  • +1

no click and collect? probably should mention price excludes postage :(

  • +15

If it helps anybody, a 57cm frame would suit somebody between about 175 and 185cm. More info here.

    • +5

Not sure about the geometry of this bike, but for most road bikes, a 57cm wouldn't fit someone below 185cm..

      • I took my information from the link provided, and the information I've provided is corroborated by Evans Cycles. Am I missing something?

  • +7

Perfect for a quick run down to my local for a deconstructed soy latte.

  • +9

Does it support wicker baskets large enough for a smashed avocado on ciabatta?

  • +10

Can this bike support a 6ft tall, 100kg fat-ass like myself? Or I better look for something else?

    • +20

      Get a ute

      • +1

        LOL! Ba dum tss! :)

So is this a mountain bike or racing bike?

I am looking for 2 bicyles at the moment, one for me and one for my sister.

I am 178cm and my sister is 160cm, we would prefer mountain bikes, would anyone point us the right directions? thanks

    • I need the bike mainly for some short distance travel as well as day out. Budget is between $150 - $300 if possible. Cant afford anything too high.

      • +6

get second hand bikes from gumtree

      • Whereabouts are you based? I've got a mountain bike in good condition that I want to offload with the right price!

    • +1

Depends where you're starting from, and where you want to go. Your height shouldn't prevent you from going anywhere you want to though.

      • Start from Home to maybe the shop (5kms away)

    • +1

So is this a mountain bike or racing bike?

Neither, it's a very basic road bike with one speed.

      • Oh, maybe not too good then, any good mountain bikes around $150 - $300 you can suggest?

        • +5

As an OzBargainer, I'd suggest a 2nd hand MTB from Gumtree.

        • -1

@Scrooge McDuck: I dont buy things from gumtree, especially bikes, too many stolen ones

        • @house2015:

While there are things on Gumtree that are stolen if you use your intuition you're going to know if it's likely stolen. I.e. If it's a $5000 carbon frame bike being sold for $1000 by a kid without a receipt or any knowledge on bikes don't do it.

        • +5

@house2015: why not try the upcoming police auction. Crooks steal em. Police sell em. You save!

        • @OldBugger: oh dear, didnt know its even existed….

        • @house2015: just had another look, it amazes me to see sooooo many different items for sale. it just feels wrong to buy them, even at a discount……..

        • @house2015:

          lol at Lot 103 onwards.

        • @house2015:
With gumtree bikes, ask the seller straight up if they have a receipt or other proof or purchase, before you even go to inspect. There's a number of people who buy bikes intending to get fit and end up hardly riding them, so legit bargains can be found.

If you want to buy from a shop, search Bike Exhange. Shops advertise their old stock there, often there's only one or two sizes available.

    • -1

Neither. It's a fixie: single speed, usually come with no brake though this one here does seem to have brakes). When you stop cycling, the wheels stop simultaneously, so it's not suitable for mountain biking. Would do fine for commuting.

      • +1

I think all fixies need to be sold with brakes, at least in VIC. Police can also fine you if you don't have them installed, though I've seen a few removed.

    • +1

Go to hipster.com for all the info u should already know.

  • I want to buy one for commuting purposes. Is it good enough? It's around 7km from my house to school.

    • +1

If it's flat terrain you should be fine. If not, go for something with gears.

  • +1

I had a look at this a week ago. It comes with a double-sided freewheel/fixed hub.

    • Anyone care to translate?

      • Can either be a fixed gear or free wheel bike.

      • +18

A 'real' fixie you have to pedal ALL the time, as in if the wheels are turning your pedals are turning. A lot of fixies have whats called a flip-flop wheel/hub, you can take the rear wheel off and put it back in the other way and then you have a freewheel hub which means you can glide down hills etc without pedaling.

…you can take the rear wheel off and put it back in the other way….

Just to be clear, don't try and do this while riding.

Unless you are videoing the attempt.

        • @Scrooge McDuck:

          Video's from 2011 & 2014.
They're probably all dead by now…

  • Too mainstream. I ride this cool kind of bike but I doubt you'd have heard about it.

  • +1

This looks like a great Christmas present for kids, if their bedrooms are big enough!

It's the real thing and probably costs less than a toy bike these days.

  • +1

    Oversize Delivery $44.99

    • Seems like the only store with stock is in Launceston.

      • +2

That makes sense. Pretty hilly in Launy. Not good for fixies.

  • I'm an international manly man. Would this bike suit me?

  • Both sizes out of stock

  • Argghhh, just had it in my cart, and now sold out. Was looking forward to buy this as a Father's day present! :/

  • +2

Found 3 in store (Wagga) for $99

    • +2

$33 each! Bargain ;) Kidding of course but yeah, nice find!

  • It's not a vegan bike, it has brakes.

  • +1

    Was 449. Lol

  • +1

few back online just managed to snag one!

  • -2

does this come with beard oil and a flannelette shirt?

  • +1

There's more stock available right now. I just grabbed a 57cm.

    • awesome, have updated. cheers

  • 54 just went back up but i bought it still 57 cm left

  • They cancelled my order :(

    • Mine too.

      • when did you place your order?

        • 11.23pm, about half an hour after the deal was posted.

        • @bargainhunter: That's strange why would they cancel yours then put it available to purchase online multiple times

        • @DongerDash: spite? Regional delivery too hard?

    • seems like its back in stock though? what's happening haha

  • JUST ONE GEAR on my Fixie bike

  • Anyone else order got refunded?

  • They came back in stock on the 4th, but cancelled my order on the 6th. Now they are showing in-stock again?!?

    • What city are you in and i will grab the stock for that city to let you know some stores to contact to try and get one sorted.

  • +3

Hi All, i notice a few people got refunded when ordering online, this is because most likely the stores in your region had already built the stock so it isn't able to be couriered. There were a few still in warehouse so stores got a final distribution just recently, if anyone is chasing this let me know a few of your nearby stores and i will see if they have stock.

I will try and post any near clearance bikes or specials that go beyond the standard levels in future.

    • hi if I buy the bike online will I get it ? I'm in melbourne can't find any local stock

      • +1

It is mostly down to 1s or 2s in stock of the two sizes which means they are more than likely built/can't be sent anymore. Please call the store before heading in to make sure it is complete and not already put aside/sold in teh last couple of days.

This is the stock from Monday for Melbourne stores.
