Ozito 1600W 210mm Compound Mitre Saw and Stand $99 @ Bunnings Warehouse

160

While searching for a sliding mitre saw for my floor replacement project, I came across this on Bunnings Warehouse
Do a quick search on Ozbargain, it seems to be a good deal here in the past https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/253289
I am not sure if this is the normal price or a sale price for this item these days.
This is my first post, please be nice.

Cheers.

This is part of Father's Day deals for 2017.

For Bunnings you can hit up Price Hipster, though in this case only showing back to 17/8

Don't bother. Mine didn't cut even close to straight even after calibration, it kept losing the setting.

I dont think you could expect to get a precision tool for this price. For most DIY jobs this is probably great. I found that the ozito's all have a bit of play each way even after locking, and as such are not precise at all. Bought the Workzone one from aldi a couple of months ago and its great. repeatable precision cuts. Only downside is the one I have is 8 1/4 or 1/2 blade. If you need precision, you need to spend a lot more (or wait for aldi to sell theirs again)

Yeah fair enough, but the opposing view is if it doesn't cut straight, just get a circular saw.

        • At least this is a lot safer than a circular saw

  • Got one previously. Have used it a bunch, works great, love it.

This one doesn't slide, isn't that what you were looking for?

    • I looked at this one https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-210mm-8-1800w-compound-sliā€¦
But the one I posted here seems to be a good deal so I share with you guys.
      I am still looking.

We installed laminated floorboards, hardwood decking and a planter box using the 250mm compound sliding ozito, burned through a couple of them, I guess we've worked them pretty hard. They did most of the job well with the right blade, but the mitre and bevel cuts for the deck and planter box weren't all that great. The current saw just about had it, but we still got a few more projects to go. If you end up finding a good deal on another compound sliding mitre saw, please let me know!

  • Bought this a couple of weeks ago, been using it for some decking, working great so far.

  • I purchase one of these a few weeks ago, cutting fairly straight.
I did, however see it on clearance at $80 in the Wollongong store last weekend.
I'll be sure and take a photo next time

Like comments in the prev deal I'm not sure how useful the stand would be. I have the non-stand one and a bit of stock doesn't have to get that long before it would be better with another bit of support at the end of it. If you do it on a workbench or just on the ground, it's a couple of bits of wood or brick, etc. If it's on this stand it's hard to come up with a support that height.
