warranty would be a pain in the nuts from this unknown seller

  • What's the chances that this is not a counterfeit or refurbished being passed off as brand new?. Overseas stock in Hong Kong. No Australian warranty at all.

    • +6

      about 15.4% chance.

  • Look at the negative feedback for this seller in the past month alone. Buyer beware. lol

Next thing we will hear the OP complaining that he never received his MDR-1000X.

Looked through the feedback for the past month. One negative feedback claims they received refurbished goods that was re-shrinkwrapped.

On the other hand, the only feedback for the MDR-1000X was positive and didn't have any issues at the time.

I'd be wary of overseas stock for warranty purposes though. Technically, the seller would have to cover statutory warranty under ACL if they really are based in Australia as they claim on their ebay page, but who even knows!

EDIT: According to their website, the company is owned by Amaysim, so you should be able to pursue them for warranty issues with grey import stock.

      • Yes apparently Amaysim Operations is part of the Amaysim group.

        • Hmmm, does that title say Sony MDR-1000X NC Bluetooth Headphones (Black) $368 Delivered @ Amaysim eBay Store?

Nowhere on the ebay page is it apparent that its run by Amaysim. Geez, some of you lot really hate when people share information others may not know. Want to keep it to yourself or something. 🙄

        • @lint:

Yeah it should be on the eBay page that BuyMobile AU is a brand operated by amaysim which could add some credibility. From their About US page of the BuyMobile AU web site. It says that it's a brand operated by amaysim Operations Pty Ltd.

"When you purchase a device from buymobile.com.au you are purchasing this device from BuyMobile. BuyMobile is a brand operated by amaysim Operations Pty Ltd, Lvl 6, 17-19 Bridge St, Sydney, NSW 2000, Australia."

And from this PDF direct off the amaysim Australia web site.

"This policy applies to entities within the amaysim group operating in Australia. These include amaysim Australia Ltd, amaysim Services Pty Ltd, Eastpoint IP Pty Ltd, amaysim SaleCo Ltd, Vaya Pty Ltd, Live Connected Holdings Pty Ltd, Live Connected Incubator Co. Pty Ltd, Live Connected Pty Ltd, Zenconnect Pty Ltd, amaysim Ventures Pty Ltd, amaysim Operations Pty Ltd, amaysim Labs Pty Ltd and Australian Broadband Services Pty Ltd"

          https://www.amaysim.com.au/dms/amaysim/documents/terms-condi…

That all shows that BuyMobile AU really is a brand owned and operated by amaysim Operations Pty Ltd which is part of the group which owns amaysim Australia too. It is essentially a shop owned by amaysim.

You know a bit of looking into it found all this stuff out.

What surprises me more than anything is that eBay actually has allowed such a dodgy seller to participate in this "selected sellers" promotion.

To have only 84% positive FB you really need to be a crook or highly incompetent.

    • Obviously eBay doesn't care who signs up to this promo. Poor form but at least there's still buyer protection if you're that stupid to buy from them.
