Best price I have seen on these is around 299 at snowys.
Check recent deal from HN for 6 person where most comments were positive.

how's it go in the rain?
is this a realistic demo of how it goes up?

lots of moving parts to possibly fail? Still have to peg to ground.

Therefore this is more failsafe
Only have to do roof frame once then very easy and stable.

You cannot compare the two. They are very different when you get inside
they both come in various sizes.
some tourer tents have a pole in the middle, or at sides to support, I have had both.
I am just wondering about the quality of the poles, as it only takes one to fail…
I'd love to see a complete video of someone setting up the instant up tent. They seem to stop after the quickest part of it is done.
Thanks for this post! Would've been nice to get approx $50 off, as per the previous 6 person deal… however I still think this one is pretty good value.
Another ozbargain purchase - done.
is this easy to set up?
Bought one a while back, only used it twice but very happy with it. Everyone's take on "instant" may be a little different, but it's fast and very easy to,set up. Well worth the price.
This one seems to have an extra layer for rain protection compared to the 6 person tent?
I have this tent & have used it a lot (since April 2013).
Putting it up is fast, but pegging the fly down & all the ropes take as long as a normal tent. It is handy to pop it up fast - and then throw all the equipment into the tent, someone can set up inside while another person pegs away. You need to peg the guy ropes from the top, but also around the bottom of the fly & all the window guy ropes (to keep the fly off the tent). I usually put the window ropes on the same peg as the main guy ropes.
My fly is starting to age, the top corners are starting to loose the seam sealing on the inside (from rubbing), and the velcro that attaches in those corners, the stitching is coming undone.
Another issue is the dance you have to do in the morning, to open the fly door when it is covered in dew (not a lot of room to manoeuvre).
I like the tent, but next tent I will probably buy would be a T-shaped dome tent - where the bottom of the T forms a porch, and has an almost vertical door (this way it is easy to open the door in the morning, and can leave shoes/mud/dust in the porch area).
I have the 4 person one & love it.
Extremely quick to setup, downside is a bit bulky to transport & carry.
Also in our recent camping, when the temp drop 0C at night time. Somehow the blanket inside the tent got wet. Not sure because of the extreme moisture or the fabric is not thick enough, so the dew can go through.
I have this tent, think I paid a bit more than that for it!
easy to set up decent tent
