  • Does this travel case recharge the brush?

    • +1

      No.

  • Whats the difference between this and 8000 one?

  • Why wouldn't you buy the 8000 for $20 more from Chemist Warehouse? I would pay that just to get the better batteries…

    • Chemist warehouse is having stocking issues? This is delivered.

      • I went to shaver shop and they price matched. Easy peasy!!

    • Does Li-On battery last longer?

With all of these electric toothbrushes coming out as deals, can anyone who has owned a Philips Sonicare chime in on their experiences? I'm on the fence as to whether or not I should purchase an Oral-B or one of its competitors.

    • Im on the same boat :)

    • I haven't tried the Philips but most people say it gives a superior clean.

Not all that impressed with the Oral B ones, they take a long time to get a really good clean, much more than the 2 minutes advertised.

Maybe it's the cheap Vitality Plus version I'm using as it only has "2D cleaning", whereas the better models like this have 3D (Oscillates,Rotates + Pulsates).

I have both philips flagship and oral B flagship. They are good at different things. However philips is better overall.

        • Do you use them both at the same time, one in each hand?

        • @Scab: Nah that's the nerd thing. Haha

    • If you can find cheap replacement heads for your sonic brush then continue using it. AFAIK sonic toothbrushes are superior to oscillating brushes. I currently use an oral b but only because the particular brand of sonicbrush i had cost $20 for replacmeent heads from US.

I have both a Oral B 5000, and a Sonicare Diamond Clean. I got the Oral B about 1.5 years ago after the Hygienist told me I need to ditch the Manual toothbrush to clean plaque properly from my teeth (as I had a bit of build up) that I really need to get an oscillating toothbrush, like an Oral B or similar. He said didnt need to get an expensive one either, but luckily I found one on clearance on boxing day so got a decent one. They do clean very well, however as my Hygienist showed me, I need to hold it on each side of each tooth for 3 secs for a proper clean. and because the brish is circular I find it cleans right next to the gum very well to avoid build up of plaque in that area.

About 8 months ago I bought a Sonicare Diamond Clean for very cheap from Amazon UK for about $130, because I heard great things. It is Very different to the Oral B, and its hard to say if it works better or worse than the Oral B, because I think it depends on your technique. It is supposed to work by very fast vibrations/motions of the bristles if you push too hard (even slightly) you can essentially stop the tips of the bristles from doing their job (swaying from side to side), youll feel the vibration in your mouth/teeth but it may not be doing much as the pressure stops the movement at the tip. It feels weird because you almost have to have the bristles hover your teeth so they are just touching for it to work as designed, which can make me feel like it is not vigourous enough. the vibrations also have a benefit in that they cause a 'fluid motion' of the toothpaste between your teeth which is also meant to have a benefit. I also feel the vibrations help with gum health as well better compared with the Oral B.

For me I use Both at Night, one after the other so cover my bases with cleaning teeth. However If I was to only brush with one because im tired or lazy I go with the Oral B, as it feels like it is more consistent and thorough to me in cleaning. I do not like that the Battery as is only Ni-MH and I have found the battery is not as great anymore and seems to slow down only after a few brushes so I need to charge more often. The Diamond Clean as Litium Ion lasts longer and seems to consistently stay strong even when it gets a bit low.

Is this compatible with anything else beside toothbrush heads

    Asking for a friend

  • Little warning here. Oral B electric toothbrush's battery typically only last about 2 years of daily use. You can't replace the battery easily, so it's a bit of rip off if you ask me. Used the pro 5000, and vitality.. Both last about the same time..

  • Bought the ORAL-B Genius 8000 dual-pack last week for $240, order status stuck at "BEING PROCESSED" for an entire week with no update despite having paid already.

Multiple phone calls to them with no answers except they're "looking into it" and no call-backs.

A word of warning for anyone looking to buy from them directly, I should've bought from their eBay shop instead so I can file a dispute.
