Isn't there a new version coming, rep confirmed a week or so ago

    • I believe this is the one the rep was talking about.

      • Think the Rep said there would also be a deal for it so not sure if there will be a better price or not.

    • This one was posted recently but doesn't have Qualcomm QC. A decent deal

  • Thanks OP, ordered one. I believe the 30th Sept message means that the price will expire on the 30th of Sept, not the stock will arrive then, that's what the rep said about the last pre-order deal.

    • +4

it literally says "stock due to arrive on september 30th"

      • -2

I Ctrl+F 'd your comment and found nothing, so not literally.

        • Didn't look very hard… Click the product link… In big orange letters

        • +1

If it helps you're both right. Below are two screenshots of the website. It updates to the one on the right after a few seconds.

Stock isn't arriving for over a month, then throw on BG's crazy shipping times and you may get this some time in 2018

    • +2

Delivery took a month for me, they aren't as slow as some would suggest.

      • 1 month + 1 week for the stock to arrive. Then, another month due to the cheapest postage option being used.

I am still waiting for the last item I ordered from BG. They posted the next day, but still waiting.

      • Yeah, looking at November 1-7 arrival time most likely. I seem to get my orders around the month mark.

  • Got 2 of these.. excellent chargers.

    • How'd you get them already? We have to wait till Sept 30 before they get them in stock.

      • They've previous been on sale..

        • Oh.

How much did you pay for them?

        • +1

@lostn: about the same. .. this is not a new product.

  • Is it worth upgrading to 'priority direct' shipping method? $4 extra (for 2 of these)

    • That's weird, it's coming up as $5.36AU for me. Unless your is US.

      • Just checked. it's AUD$4.02

    • +1

Damn.. I missed that bit in the check out to change the shipping method. I've got standard slow shipping.. :(

    • +1

Only if you need it soon.

You're paying 33% of the item cost on shipping.

But if it's something you can't wait for then yes.

Though if I were the one paying it, I'd like to add as many items to it as possible so I can get them all sooner. So I'd probably wait a few days or weeks before placing the order, so I can combine shipping.

  • Think it's worth getting the Air Parcel registered postage for $1.68?

    • If it speeds things up, yes.

  • -2

    Is this safe to use?

  • +3

Hopefully a rep can make this an even sweeter deal with a coupon code. Will buy a couple if they can as it would make the wait time worth it then. Otherwise it would be worth waiting for them to be in stock and a code to be posted.

    • It's already 3 bucks or so less than their list price for the first 600 quantity.

  • Excellent charger, been using mine for some time.

What I want is the same charger but with a universal adapter where you can change to different plug.

      • Thanks for the link. That's exactly what I'm looking for, but think I'll wait for a BlitzWolf/Tronsmart version.

        • +1

No stress. I think that BlitzWolf/Tronsmart version will be pricier than the one that I have shared, unless there is a deal happening at the time. I wanted something with universal adapter, but did not want to give up on QC 3.0

      • That one is great for travel. Has 4 different plugs. I took it to the US and didn't bring my power banks due to fear of confiscation at airports. We all charged off the same plug.

The Blitzwolf version lets you choose the plug, but not get them all, so you either get one for abroad or one for home. Or you buy a travel adapter I guess. I don't like the bulk of travel adapters.

  • Thanks OP!. Note that once it reaches 600 preorders, price goes up to $10.99US, and then after 2000 preorders back to $12.99US.

  • Order placed. Thanks OP.

Does this has an AU plug or does it come with a separate adapter?

    • AU plug, non-removable.

  • +2

Does anyone know of any USB C wall chargers with an AU plug that are available apart from buying one of the overpriced OEM chargers

    • I'm trying to understand why you want Type-C on the wall plug. All the USB-C devices I know of, the C port is on the device, but the charging cable still uses Type A at the wall plug.

Are you wanting to use a C-C cable for charging instead of the A-C that is always supplied?

      • +3

For Google branded and Apple devices, they use USB-PD so USB-C to USB-C cable is mandatory (because USB-PD uses some of the extra pins on USB-C (not found on USB-A/B, not even on USB 3.0/3.1 USB-A). Qualcomm QuickCharge 2/3 can operate on USB-A/B (Google engineers feel QC2/3 are not following proper USB standards - because they are putting more voltage on the USB Pin that's meant to only deliver 5V (according to the standard). QC4 is USB-PD compatible (and as a result USB-C to USB-C is mandatory for QC4).

Overpriced OEM chargers most likely refer to Apple (and to a slightly lesser extent Google) USB-C chargers.

Don't mix QC2/3 chargers with USB-PD chargers (and more importantly, the cables). USB-C to USB-C cables for USB-PD are safe for QC2/3, but they will most likely not support the 9V/12V QC. The cheap USB-C to USB-A QC2/3 cannot support USB-PD (i.e. 20.3V).

      • I want one too - USB-C sockets can provide more current (usually 3A/15W, up to 5A/100W) than the USB-A socket spec allows (short of spec-bending proprietary approaches like Qualcomm's QuickCharge). And yes, you'd use them with a C-C cable.

        • Eh? Blitzwolf themselves make a A-C cable that does 3.0A.

        • @lostn: A better specs USB-C to USB-C cable supporting USB-PD is what those people want. 3A @ 5V is merely 15W. A lot of the USB-C to USB-C (supporting USB-PD) cables are only rated 60W (even that is 4X of 15W). That barely covers Macbook Pro 13 inch. Macbook Pro 15 inch goes up to 87W. Do you really want to use a cable that's rated 15W on a Google Pixel laptop or a Macbook Pro?

Don't mix the QuickCharge 2/3 type USB-C cables with these. QC2/3 USB-C to USB-A ones are essentially USB-A/B cable (probably USB 2.0 standard) with USB-C plug on the other end. As I mentioned before, any USB-A/B cable (despite having USB-C on the other end, does not support USB-PD). We understand why Qualcomm did QC2/3 the way they did… but it does cause a bit of mess. For people like me, I need two sets of USB-C cables. One for QC2/3, and another for USB-PD. For USB-PD, we want decent chargers since the devices need higher voltage (i.e. around 20V).

        • @lostn: It's not cables that are the issue, it's the socket - how many chargers will deliver more than 2.4A through their USB-A sockets? It's way out of the USB-A spec.

QuickCharge is Qualcomm's hack, but USB-PD over C-type sockets & cables is the real answer. Recent Nexus & Pixel phones won't charge at full speed without true 3.0A USB-C chargers.

        • @netsurfer: Are google's chargers branded QC3.0?

        • @lostn: No, they are USB-PD. Google refuse to support non-official USB standard. Two of their engineers have been reviewing USB-C products (one of them is Benson). Qualcomm went for their own standards (because USB-PD wasn't available at the time - and you can argue USB-PD borrowed features from QC). Anyway, QC 4.0 is USB-PD compatible.

It is somewhat disappointing that Apple opted for USB-PD and basically removed MagSafe and the LED light on the plug. Anyway, USB-PD chargers are being used for laptops and they are larger (because they need to provide more power). Original ones cost a lot.

It is quite annoying. I have one set of cables and chargers for QC2/3 devices. Another set of cables and chargers for USB-PD devices. The latter set of cables and chargers cost a lot more.

      • Yep pretty much all these replies. I don't really have anything that isn't USB C now so really have no need at all for anything with the old Type A plug, especially as they charge soooooo much slower than the new USB C standard

        • Are all your USB sticks type C also?

Because my motherboard has only one Type C slot. Everything else is A. All my device still use A.

C-C sounds like a cable nightmare since it isn't reuseable for anything other than charging. I don't have enough C ports for everything to use C. If I wanted to use the same cables instead of having 20 of them, I'd need a lot more C ports on the m/b.

        • @lostn: Apple have gone down the all USB-C ports path for Macbook, Macbook Pros. It is quite annoying to be honest. Basically, you need a whole set of USB-C cables/converters.

          USB-C charger cable
          USB-C to USB-A (USB 3) adapter
          USB-C to USB-C (USB 3.1 gen 2 / thunderbolt 3) cable
USB-C to microUSB (USB 3) cable - for portable hard drives
USB-C to HDMI 2.0 4K@60Hz HDR cable (or to DisplayPort equivalent)
          USB-C to gigabit ethernet
          USB-C to sata adapter

This one (http://m.ebay.com.au/itm/25W-Quick-Charge-3-0-USB-1-Type-C-H…) seems to tick all your boxes, though not sure about quality.

      • Looks interesting but what brand is it? Not sure if I can trust its safety.

      • No, it doesn't. The USB-C port only does 5V (so it is not even QC). There is one USB-A port which is QC compatible.

  • where does it say USB cable is included?

    • From past experience, BlizWolf chargers often come with a USB-A to micro-USB cable. That cable seems to allow a bit more current through (like 0.1A more) than the official cables provided by phone manufacturers.

However, if your phone/tablet uses USB-C port or lightning port, the supplied cable won't be much use to you.

  • Ugh. Just a few days after I purchased the single port version. Oh well, it's a long preorder. It might be available cheaper before then.

How many amps is QC3.0 drawing?

UPDATE: Well I bought in anyway. It was at 595 when I bought. Now 600. And the price has gone up by $1 USD.

  • Price is now - AU$14.22

  • Has anyone tried this? This one has 4 ports. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/4-Ports-USB-AC-Wall-Charger-Adapt…

AND is shipped from Sydney + Extra 20% off PTECH20 brings the cost down to $17.56 AUD

    • +1

Doesn't look like actual Qualcomm QuickCharge support, just some confusingly-similar logo that's intended to make you think so.

  • Gah missed the first 600 booooooo

Been waiting for these for so long, ordered 5. Sorry guys!
One for every room in the house…

  • I broke the ozbargain rule and bought 2 after the the 600…
    Please forgive me T_T
