Free Fruit for Kids @ Woolworths (Nationwide)

1180

A friendly reminder that kids get to eat fruit for free at Woolworths.

Woolworths, the fresh food people, is giving kids the chance to eat their favourite fruit for free when they visit the supermarket.

Kids will be encouraged to grab fruit such as mandarins, apples and bananas and enjoy it while their parent or carer shops.

Ongoing deal. Not a dupe as per OzBargain rules.

Also reminder that it is only for kids to have during your shopping, not to take and bring it home for them or for adults.

    • I always take one home because if my 12 month old ate a banana or apple in store someone would likely slip on his mess. Never had an issue from staff.

      • Usually that's not allowed as anyone can say that they have kids and bring it home. Not saying that you're lying.

        • I have a dozen kids at home. Ami I lying to you Mr Woolies, sir? :)

  • Can they pick up a packet of strawberries and start munching on it? lol

    • I think it's limited to the fruits in marked stands which are typically apples, bananas and mandarins.

      • +2

What about onions for Tony Abbott.

        • No dogs allowed in stores.

        • @ronnknee:
          Guide dogs are.

        • @ms:

I don't think he's suitable to be guiding anyone. Otherwise it'll just be the blind leading the blind.

I couldn't be bothered arguing with him

It clearly states that the fruit must be eaten in store…

If you don't want to accept their conditions, you don't have to take the free fruit…

He made a big fuss over me taking free damaged fruit

At our store, the fruit has always been good quality…

and expected my kids to risk eating sprayed fruit?

You are allowed to peel the bananas and mandarins before eating them.

They only had some sad looking apples in the basket that day.

You remind me of the bully in here… insensitive

You remind me of the bully in here…

You're the one calling people names.

Why can't you discuss the topic without making personal attacks on people's character.

You should learn to accept that people might have differing opinions.

Look at all the neg votes you got.

I bet you only told us half the story and it wouldn't surprise me if you also attacked that poor store worker who was only trying to do their job.

Shop theft is a big issue today and we all end up paying for it with higher prices.

Think about that next time you try and take something out of a store without paying for it

Willing to poison the kids provided it is free? Seriously if you are that concerned you are not obliged to take the fruit. Perhaps you should stop being a tight a**e and buy your children the fruit you prefer then you can take it home and do as you wish.

    • If you want to wash the fruit bring your own bucket in store. Good on the man for his actions. It says in store not take home. Would you dine at a restaurant and take their plates home if you couldn't finish your dish?

    • Should've given them bananas. They don't need to be washed.

Otherwise, if you are so desperate to give them apples, clean them thoroughly with wet wipes.

      Problem solved.

  • Woolworths, the fresh food people, is giving kids the chance to eat their favourite fruit for free

My kid likes pineapple. I'm sure they're not going to put a whole pineapple in the basket

    • Mine likes some big fat juicy melons. Though they have a pair waiting for them at home

  • This reminds me of that Dave Hughes joke about "being Australian" and grabbing grapes at woolies.

  • Any fruit or just ones in designated baskets?

    • -4

You can grab whatever you want, as long as it's in the fruit & vegetable section.

      • +2

Nope, they're in a special section with signs…

        • +1

So I've been doing it wrong for all these years?

    • The latter.

  • Can my kids just hang out and eat fruit all day at woolies? Is there a clause just 1 piece?

    • Is there a clause just 1 piece?

I think there is, but not sure.

Is 30 years old defined as a kid and can i get my kid to grab a years worth of fruit?

    • +1

Take your mum along and that'll be fine

    • +2

can i get my kid to grab a years worth of fruit?

Sure. Go ahead. Don't forget to post the pictures.

  • I go three times a day with my boy, gets all the fruit he needs with zero cost to dad!

    • +3

Must be a sad life for the kid, woolies thrice a day to get free fruits.

  • Here we go again, I gonna watch those kids eating those fruits not being washed!

    • +2

You wash banana and mandarin ?

I just peel the skin off.

      • Nothing tastes better than a clean banana.

      • referring to those apples…I saw kids munching straight off!

  • +3

It's a great deal! Think of all those families that struggle after their parents have lost their pay playing pokies with Australias largest operator of pokies (Woolworths). A free banana can help the kids fight off starvation for an hour or so.

Thats why I don't pick Woolies.

  • people always say i look like a kid, do i count? I am 24 and when i buy alcohol one of them said "get out of here kid"

    • When that happens, yes go straight to the fruit basket.

  • Good idea. Gonna try this at my store with free lollies and chocolates.

    • -2

Lollies are not fruits. No wonder there is an obesity epidemic in Australia.

  • Good banter.

  • +1

All out of free fruit at my local store; anyone know if Woolworths will be getting more fruit in stock? Hope this doesn't become the next 'NES Mini' ;)

  • Also applies to Harris Farm in NSW.

  • Seriously. I've seen people going in and grabbing a few then walked out to the cafe next door to have their fruits with no kids to been seen nearby.

I got in to big trouble at Officeworks when I assumed they would match this deal and took a BlackBerry and an Apple

    • +3

that's because the deal is for kids only.
Next time when you bring a kid you have to make sure your kid eats the whole BlackBerry or Apple instore

  • Not a deal.

    • Go report it.

  • +4

What annoys me is the half eaten fruit and banana skins thrown onto the shelves in other parts of the store.

  • +1

Only way to get my 2 year old to sit in the trolley is by giving him a free banana. Then he finishes it and tries to climb out, so we give him another one.

    • +1

I think what you've got there is a monkey 🐒

  • +1

    very nice!

  • +4

Can you people pls not be animals that leave the remainders/skins behind items on random shelves throughout the store?

    • +1

Next to the ripped open empty hair dye, makeup packets and the half drank flavoured milk?

  • +1

My woolies offers free cashews, almonds, cans of drink and chips. We also get free vegetables like carrots.

  • Doesn't really offset the cost of being charged twice for shopping there

  • A reminder:
    We have free air everyhwere.

  • I use it for my kids dinner each day! Means I can spend more on steak for myself.

  • Except for woolworths Nerang. Well I haven't seen them for a few weeks anyway.

  • i have an inner child; is that good enough?
