Haier HBM450SA1 450L Bottom Mount Fridge @ The Good Guys $749

60

I'm soon moving into a new place and have been on the hunt for a decent sized bottom mount fridge suitable for 1-2 people. I've had my eye on the LG GB-450UPLX ($1,127 @TGG after cash back, not the cheapest, but the 4.5 star energy efficiency is a big selling point). Anywho, found this Haier 450L on the front page of the latest The Good Guys catalogue which I may go for instead - $378 is a big gap for a similar fridge, albeit with a 0.5 star less energy rating.

Would love to hear from owners of both and any experiences with Haier when it comes to customer service and warranty.

Details of the Haier:

Colour/Finish: Silver
Capacity: 450 Litre
Fridge/Freezer Capacity: 327 Litre Fridge, 123 Litre Freezer
Energy Rating: 4 Star
Door Hinge: Reversible
Width (mm): 700
Height (mm): 1725
Depth (mm): 676
Warranty: 2 year manufacturer

Google lists comparison prices as follows:

$898.00 Retravision
$845.00 Stax Appliances
$898.00 Betta
$838.00 Billy Guyatts

I'd choose the LG over Haier any day.

With an Ebay coupon you can get the LG cheaper.

    • Unfortunately as I have to buy 1000 things at once my white goods will be financed, so Ebay isn't an option this time around. The LG does look like an amazing fridge with a good parts warranty.

      • Financing will be hard, I can't imagine all my stuff on fiance, I will not able to afford anything if I do have debts..

    • F&P is owned by haier

      https://www.fisherpaykel.com/au/company/about-fisher-paykel.…

These fridges are produced by same factory but you obviously pay a premium for the fisher and Paykel badge

      • That doesn't always mean much.
Westinghouse is owned by Electrolux, but Electrolux products are often "premium" while Westinghouse is not.
I think the quality is often determined by which parts they use, and how much QA and support if being applied.

      • Its not an f&p fridge and not made in the factory

Iirc these ones come out of haier's indian factory

  • for fridge, it's not worth paying for the stars

you may save $50pa on electricity but paid a premium of $500 over same sized fridge with 2 less stars.

    • I have the exact same one

      Paid $700 from appliances online

Very quiet fridge and energy efficient

    • The stars mean nothing much at all

The only thing worth looking at is the actual energy consumption

  • Not available online.
