EatNow stopping Loyalty Discounts

At Eat Now, we're always looking for ways to help you find great new meals in your area at the best possible price.

Eat Now has traditionally offered two types of specials to reward its customers:
The Restaurant Loyalty Program, which offers a free meal after a designated number of purchases at the same restaurant.
The First Time Customer Discount, which offers a percentage off whenever a customer tries a new restaurant on Eat Now.
WHAT IS CHANGING?
In the next few weeks, Eat Now will phase out its restaurant loyalty program in order to focus further on first time customer discounts.

WHY THE CHANGE TO THE LOYALTY OFFERING?
Customer feedback shows, first time customer discounts are the most popular specials available on Eat Now. 15 times as many Eat Nowers use a first time customer discount than those who have redeemed a loyalty offer.

WHAT HAPPENS NOW?
If you have earned loyalty credits toward a free meal, or have earned a free meal at a participating restaurant prior to the end of the program, you will continue to be eligible to earn and redeem loyalty credits until 31 October 2017.

After 31 October 2017, if you have earned loyalty credits toward a free meal or have earned a free meal at a participating restaurant and have completed at least two loyalty transactions at the participating restaurant between 10 August 2017 and 31 October 2017, you will be issued vouchers for any remaining credits and / or free meals.

If you have earned loyalty credits towards a free meal, or have earned a free meal at a participating restaurant but do not complete at least two loyalty transaction at the participating restaurant between the 10 August 2017 and 31 October 2017, your credits with the participating loyalty restaurant will expire on 31 October 2017.

If you have earned a free meal at a participating restaurant between 10 August 2017 and 31 October 2017, you will no longer be eligible to progress towards earning further free meals from that participating restaurant.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
Continue to make the most of your existing loyalty programs by earning and redeeming loyalty credits up until 31 October 2017. If you are eligible, you will be issued vouchers for any remaining credits and / or free meals.

Eatnow just committed suicide for its return customers. It's very strange - what would possess a company to distance loyal customers in such a blatant way?

  • what would possess a company to distance loyal customers in such a blatant way?

I assume they've run the numbers, and it's costing them more than it's worth to them.

  • +2

most likely because people prefer up front discounts and just create new accounts.

  • +1

I always create new account anyways so no big deal for me
