[PC/XB1] Battlefield 1 Now on EA Access/Origin Access

590

EA Access can be had for ~$30/year, Origin Access is ~$40/year, with other games like Titanfall 2 also in the vault to play, so you determine if you think this is a bargain or not :)

Certainly hard to find the game for less than those prices

Paid $42 for both BF1 Deluxe and TF2 Deluxe a while ago.

    • +12

      tf2 went f2p in 2011

      • +16

He was referring to TitanFall 2, not Team Fortress 2.

      • +8

        That's hilarious

        • +1

          yea. lol

  • How about Battlefield 1942 ;)

    • Dolphin divers gtfo!

  • Wow nice.

  • +1

Oh awesome! Are there good deals on Origin Access like there are with EA Access?

  • +4

    bring back BF 2142

    • +2

If old things fancy you, this one is even better. You can call it: BF 1914..

    • +3

      They already have ;)

      • thanks!

  • They don't really add new titles very often which is disappointing but these should both be good

    • +2

Hopefully Mass Effect Andromeda isn't far off!

      • -3

That's pretty wishful thinking. Mass Effect is one of their most premium brands. It won't come for ages.

        • +4

Lol what? Mass effect andromeda was a flop whereas bf1 was a hit which is why this move is very surprising

        • @GossipGoat:

Weird. Andromeda was a sweet game in my opinion.

        • @brentsbits: it performed poor enough that they're focusing on something new, which is odd for EA because like Activision they like to rehash things

        • +1

@brentsbits: It wasn't as bad as some made it out to be but considering the development studio no longer exists and there's been no talk of any additional content 6 months down the line I'd consider it a flop despite EA mentioning it sold a decent amount

        • @ShadowStealer7:

Everyone I know, which isn't that many, thought it was really cool.

I'm not sure I'd expect additional content over a new game being released.

I dunno, I hope they keep it going

  • +1

I rented it when it was new. Holy shit that "campaign" was disappointing, main reason I was scared for Battlefront 2 until I found out they were smart and got a different team to do the single player.

Really fun to play though, just like, the story was shit.

    • +1

What game are you talking about?

      • +1

        BattleFIELD 1.

It's kinda hard when DICE have worked on 2 different "BF1" games in the last 2 years. BF2 at least should obviously mean BattleFRONT 2, but they're not helping. I'd just call Battlefront BF16 or something but even then, with the yearly shooters and stuff that could still be taken as Battlefield 2016, as I often hear COD being referred to by the year of release.

Anyway. BattleFIELD 1's story was incredibly underwhelming and it made me cautious for BattleFRONT 2's story, until I found out EA was smart enough to get another studio to do the story side of things.

        Clearer or?

        • +1

Much clearer, thank you, I'm well-versed in modern game lingo.

I played BF1's campaign on PlayStation at release and thought it was good, but with that being said it was the first game of it's kind that I had played in quite some time, so I don't have much to compare it to.

    • +2

If you're talking about the bf1 campaign I loved it, the stories were spot on and it captured the intensity of the war well

    • +1

Yeah I wasn't that keen on it to be honest. It was passable to learn the gameplay mechanics but the tone of it was just idiotic in some places, almost worshipping what was going on rather than treating it for what it is: brutality.

It appears to be an external thing if you think about the outrage when an EA (or Dice?) marketer tweeted something that made a joke out of WW1. Like seriously, shutting down poking fun at it like it's a sacred issue.

      • +1

I shed a tear for the Aussie digger. We must have played different games.

        • +1

I'd have probably cared more for the characters if they stuck around for more than half an hour before jumping to the next unrelated, barely connected mission.

  • Does this include the premium?

    • What premium?

    • No.

    • +1

No but they added a feature where if someone who owns premium is in a party with you their premium applies to the entire party so you don't get kicked when the server changes map and can play all the DLC maps. Only downside is you don't earn any exp progression while on a DLC map you don't own. Wouldn't say it's a huge issue though as the DLC is rarely played on these games.

      • Played the premium maps on that weekend where it was all access…honestly I prefer the original. I like the planes and tanks though so prefer the big open maps.

  • Are there any deals for just Titanfall 2 on Xbox One? I missed out on the $20 target one :(

    • From memory big W has it cheap

  • +1

I bought this for xbox digitally like 6 months ago and have played it for all of 10 minutes. Dawns on me how much of a waste of money that was! Thanks OP regardless, this is a great deal.

  • Which service is better Origin Access or EA Access? Or does it simply come down to which games you prefer?

    • +3

Different platforms, same games. EA Access = Xbox One, Origin Access = PC

  • I'm new to this so forgive the silly question, but is this just a subscription service where I can play BF1 and TF2 all I want (plus other games that MAY come onboard) for the duration of my paid subscription?

If so, would it be better to own the games?

    • Currently about 49 games in the vault, all playable for your yearly membership

      Full list

  • I wish they had the vault for PS4,…

Saying that I already have this for ps4 and I feel its one of the best online shooters in years. I moved away after CSS, CS:go and years of COD but Bf1 really re-ignited my FPS passion. I hope people keep playing it for a long time

    • Blame Sony for it not being on PS4, they're not too consumer friendly now that they have the lead this generation

  • paying a sub fee to 'rent' games is in no way a bargain.

  • I would be down with this if it wouldn't take me like…. many many days to download a single game. It's why I sold my xbox one - every game required like 4gb+ of 'required updates'.

    • +2

Don't worry the NBN will get you the speeds you need! Oh wait…

  • +1

I'm confused - you said EA access $30 per year on PC/XB1, but I clicked the link which says EA Access is $39.9 per year on XB1.

"Enjoy unlimited play of full EA games on Xbox One." -> doesn't sound like PC to me

    • EA Access is XB1

      Origin Access is PC
