  • can this thing do whatever the original microsoft remote can do? volumn programming and stuff?

    • I'm not sure what the original MS remote is like - but this one has volume up/down channel up/down. Everything you need for a windows media center.

      • +1

I think he's asking if it has programmable buttons like the original Microsoft one.

I doubt this one would have programmable buttons.

I recently bought the Hauppauge one and it doesn't have programmable buttons…but I use a Logitech Harmony anyway.

        Thanks for the post warcom.

        • Ah yes - no programmable buttons. :)

        • yea programmable buttons.

can this remote turn off computer?not just quit MCE?

          • @overlook: It will only really work in MCE.

          • @overlook: Off or sleep? I just set my HTPC (Windows 7) to go to sleep (S3) after 15 minutes of inactivity. I hit the power button to wake it up and it's up in a few seconds.

            • @ShortyX: off. the microsoft one can turn off computer as well..i want one.T.T

  • Check out MetalPhreak's comments on MCE remotes on http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/16508 for some insight into how these things should work! ;)

Here's a basic review if that helps:

    • Interesting to note in that thread…

"A friend got the Aim remote & has found the button presses can get mis-interpreted by the receiver. I gave him my spare Hauppauge remote (still using the Aim receiver) & he said that's much better.

      Justin"

  • I got this one, its pretty awesome: (the app on the PC lets you change profiles, and you can make your own profiles (basically just sends key strokes based on the buttons you send)

ALTHOUGH this one on ebay doesn't have the receiver so would be pretty useless to buy… (asking them about it now as i wouldn't mind getting a second one for my other PC's)

  • Nice one. Placed my order - but wanted to add a $1.49 USB extension cable for the receiver. Doing this added $14 for freight, so I soon removed the cable from the order :-)

  • Has anyone received their deliveries yet - my order status is just showing "Awaiting Shipping" ?

Nearly a week and no movement (except from my Credit Card :-) )
