I guess the discount is on due to the release of the latest DLC (downloadable content) for the games today.
With the great AUD/USD exchange rate at the moment, the game(s) is/are a steal. The Left 4 Dead series is extremely entertaining with limitless replay value.
Purchasing and downloading the first Left 4 Dead game will not give Australian buyers a censored version but I believe buying and downloading the second one will.
hey just a confirmation from me that i was able to purchase the BUNDLE PACK (BOTH L4D 1 and 2) for around 11USD on my COMMONWEALTH Mastercard Debit Card…
so i guess Aussie banks work and + the bundle is awesome value..
just checked and it seems that at the current excahnge rate, its like $12 AUD for both games + the DLC (which is free, unless ou Xbox user)
i jsut hope this dosen't get me banned from steam lolz…but i haven;t been playing much recently anyway s thank you OP/TP for this new incentive to play steam :)

Are most people buying the double (l4d+l4d2)?
Trying to decide if I should try for the 4pack (who to give 2 to? >.>) or just get 2 singles for friend and I..
I bought the double simply because it was simply too good a deal for me to pass up. But just consider whether you are going to play it. If not, there's not much point. I personally liked the atmosphere of l4d more than the sequel, and the special infected seemed more distinct, partially because there weren't that many.
Try to pull together a group buy here if you can. Though I'm not sure how successful that will be since it's already on the 3rd page of Ozbargain.
Just remember it finishes Thursday some time in the US, so you have around 1.5 days to pull it together. Might have to wait 'til Christmas before steam slashes prices again; the last time l4d was on sale was in July iirc.
Yup, that's what I was thinking. :) Shall be lazy for a bit and eventually get it some way.

Not sure what went wrong and where. I used the proxy guide mentioned above to purchase a copy of L4D2 last night and having just woke up, I get a screen stating that my account has been disabled. Not sure if it is due to the fact that they found out that I'm not actually from the US or some other reason. Anyone else getting this?

I've "gifted" a dualpack to a guy in here, "gifted" a l4d2 to my friend, and bought a 4pack for L4D and L4D2 each [Seems you can't purchase more than one of each LOL] thru the method I have typed up for you guys (and provided the link for original guide)

as yesterday i bought the dual pack three times…
once for myself and then i gifted 2 giftpacks…using the same address but different phone numbers (as i lied lol..and so couldn;t rember them anyway)
also i signed out of annyomitiynetwork and then back in via a different server so maybe that is y?
You can't buy more if you've bought the 4 pack, you can buy the dual pack as many times as you want afterwards for gifting (but not for myself since I already own all the games in the dualpack)
In a nutshell, if you own both games you cant buy the 4 pack, but you can gift the dualpacks over and over.

Yeah a lot of games are like that. Battlefield Bad Company 2 is another one.
I always got the impression that Valve was very loyal to it's fans. I guess not if they're ripping us off like that and there isn't even any manufacturing costs, shipping or handling.
They are… They're not setting the prices, the developers of those games are.
Look how cheap all the Valve games are on Steam.
The only thing I don't like is how L4D 2 in Australia only has the censored version but there's nothing they can do if some minister doesn't allow it.
Also you can get around that anyway.
@leonheart1: That minister (SA AG Atkins) no longer has his seat. The new guy has said he's open to the option of an R-rating, he'd just need to actually have a look at the issue. We just need the AG's to all meet again to be able to vote on an R-rating for video games. But they probably won't do that until after the review of RC material Conroy keeps talking about.
@salem: Atkinson still has his seat. He just resigned from the front bench and the role of Attorney General due to pressures from within.
But what you said about reviewing Conroy is correct. Thanks to that asshole, we have to wait even longer for R18 games.

Looks like Valve is getting a little smarter… they stored a cookie that said I'm not to get that version… Loaded up a browser nobody uses anymore (Explorer) and got it fine!
Got it as a UK person, in hindsight maybe it cost a little more for VAT. Prob should just do US but if you do do it from the UK you can tell if everything is working as the price comes up in GBP.
BTW everyone don't be an idiot like me - I just paid an extra $5 AUD on the L4D2 4 Pack cause I bought it from the UK store…

I am at work and dont want to miss out on the sale i was wondering why it wouldnt work last night after about 20 attempts but just read some more posts stating that you need to use the anon website and enter in a US address as it is a US steam site. i can't get on there as my work has a very strict firewall etc i cant even download anything! i really dont want the uncensored version that sounds terrible lol

I followed cwongtech's instructions -> had the VPN happening, State/Postcode/Country in the US, and it kept failing when verifying both my VISA and AMEX cc. It seems like they've done a check on the cc Country of Origin and that didnt match the billing address (US). Sigh.
