It's 1080p not 1440p
Not IPS either…damnit. I looked at the wrong review. Something wrong with me today…
The ebay page itself says ips
Yeah….That's weird.
Which site to believe?
The Digital Star clearly suggests TN :S
Edit; Digital star also says G-sync :/
@Coastal0: Probably TN as I don't believe IPS panels can be 1ms. Generally they are 4ms or so
I thought this seemed cheap for a 1440p monitor :) !!!
Coastal I'll buy it off you if you don't need it. Need a monitor for my partner xD Let me know so we can redirect shipping before it's sent.
Cheers for the offer, although they've cancelled and refunded me, thankfully…!
2yr breakdown cover from Virginia Surety - AU $56.32.
Forgive me as I'm shit with consumer law but aren't we covered with a 24 month warranty by law?
not criticizing the deal. it looks great regardless and much cheaper than anything on staticice
24 month warranty by law?
Nothing in the ACL specifically specifies 24 months. It just says "a reasonable amount of time".
Either way, yes, you're covered by a statutory warranty.
Honestly, a monitor lasting only 2 years isn't a reasonable amount of time, so it should cover you even longer.
Agreed.
…unless you paid $20 for it.
Agreed. I think an average person would expect a screen to last at least 2 years.
damn that is a nice 144hz for the price.
good value set up:
1 monitor 144hz crap color
2nd monitor all nice but 60hz.it is way cheaper
So you play games that look like they have shit colour? No thanks. Spend the extra on IPS 144Hz and get a cheap 60Hz.
There is like one FHD high refresh with decent color, not IPS but a VA 'quantum dot'. The Samsung CFG70. Everything else is higher res, which is much harder to actually reach high stable FPS, even with the latest cards.
Running a triple monitor setup with an ultrawide, a 1366 and a 4k monitor on a computer that cost $1000 not custom built nearly 4 years ago. Can run quite a few games in 4k average FPS, those that I can't, it makes little difference what screen I use.
Currently building a new computer with similar parts to what I chose for my brother, who is now using a 1080P + 4K dual monitor setup for gaming on a 1080 (same one that is being sold on Amazon for $600). As the latest cards are the 1080 Ti, I disagree with your statement that "Everything else is higher res, which is much harder to actually reach high stable FPS, even with the latest cards", especially since if this was the case, 4k monitors wouldn't be popular at all for gaming, while this is actually the opposite. If you actually read all of that, thanks for taking the time to do so :)
4k monitors wouldn't be popular at all for gaming, while this is actually the opposite.
I don't remember claiming that. All I said was the latest cards, including the 1080ti, will struggle to reach high refresh rate monitors max of 144. Especially in demanding games.
If people want to waste their money, thats their business, but I'm not chasing marketing buzzwords when the UHD panel makers don't have to care about how much graphical power it takes for all those extra pixels. They just need to move stock.
This has pretty good colour for a TN panel.. not all TN's are bad. Ive read a few reviews. It comes with blue-light filter too :)
my TN is better than my dell IPS which bought in 2009.
so yeah nowadays TN pannel isnt all that bad.
IPS is really only if you're viewing from different angles. TN is just as good as IPS if you're viewing directly straight on
@penguin286: well not as good. but good enough for most ppl…
the blacks are still horrible…but again….unless doing color work. i dont see any one should complain that..
Ordered one… I've always wanted to try a 144hz Monitor but at the $500+ price point it was never worthwhile .. $336 is perfect!! :)

remember to use ICC profile once you got it.
lol 500+ while you can have zowie for 450$. what are those stores thinking when they listing price.
Damn, Wish this was 1440. Oh well, the wait continues
Not going to get 1440p - 144Hz for $336 .. no way no how.. VA panels at 1080p 144hz are $590… 1440p 144hz start at $700
….
VA panels
This is TN
Yeah lol my bad.
I want one, too. 1440p 27". Only issue is my OCD dictates it has to be a DELL side by side so there isn't any difference. I need symmetry :(
Damn, would've jumped on this in a heartbeat if it had vesa mounts :(
If I'm not gaming would a 144hz be worthwhile?
nope
nope.. IPS or VA are the way to go.. only ever get 144hz TN for gaming nothing else.
Thought as much. churr brus
Yes it is. The smoother desktop experience is something people comment on the most after using my computer, even if I don't tell them I have a 144hz monitor. They think I just have a really fast processor or something and comment on how smooth it feels. I actually prefer the look of IPS over TN, so my ideal panel would be 144hz IPS but I think IPS is harder to get up to that refresh rate or something. I don't really know because I can't afford another one so my 144hz TN will have to do.
I almost bit.. But 1080p doesnt have much future for serious gamers. Still a good deal though.
1920x1080 is what almost every PC gamer uses. Including paid professionals PC gamers.
Current graphics cards EASILY exceed 1080p. Even the mid range ones can play most games at 1440p on high settings. Considering how well the likes of the 4K capable cards like the GTX1080 have been selling 1080p is clearly on the way out. Hell, even the consoles are targeting higher than 1080p these days.
Any deals for good 27" x1440p monitors?
I have added one 27" in post description
But this is also 1080?
Yeah :/
wish it was g-sync…
Im pretty sure the G-Sync premium is more than the cost of this monitor alone hahaha
I got a Acer XB280HK 28" 4K G-Sync for $520 at the start of this year
ebay listing has cod and csgo in the title.. ew.
I just bought it for my little brother! I have a benq 144hz from a few years back!
Is your 27" but?
i prefer 24" ^0^ 27 is too big for me
Damn missed it! Anyone doesn't want it happy to buy it :)
damn i was looking on ebay for a 144hz monitor yesterday it must have only been a few hours before this went on sale and now they are all sold out would have snapped one up for this price for sure :(
3 available now use C5OZ
Yeah there was 4 then i got 1 to make it the 3 :)
Thanks for the heads up though
"We are messaging all customers, regarding this monitor, to confirm they are aware the XF270 is the TN variant, not IPS.
The description provided by Acer covers all XF series models which is why it mentions IPS, this only applies to the HU SkU. Not the XF270 listed here.
Please confirm this is ok and we will proceed with your order."
Not sure if this is much use - but for the people that missed out, you might want to check to see if they relist any stock. Maybe people have it purchased thinking it was an IPS panel?
yep… but they wont get the extra 10% off :) that was an ebay special..
i replied to that message and they are sending my monitor off today.. i was thinking about buying two of these monitors but i changed to only 1.. i really do want a VA or IPS 144Hz monitor :) next special that pops up I'll be grabing one.
lucky i saw you write this post, because i didnt see a notification on my ebay till i double checked it and replied back to them!
3 available / 48 sold AT the still GREAT price of AU $373.75 + free delvery
Much better then the $529 + delivery that pretty much every store sells this for
Price says $529?
Edit; Never mind, was looking at wrong thing.
Just bought one…seems insanely cheap for a 144 Hz 1440p IPS monitor. What's the catch?
