For anyone that was struggling to download this app directly from the AUS app store on their iphone or ipad (like me), click the appshopper in OP's post then click Buy. It'll then automatically launch the app store and take you to the app directly ready for download :)

  • which app is the best app to block ads…

    • +6

This one is the best by far..

    • Got this last time it was free, it's great. Thanks OP.

Sigh, Apple needs in browser app purchasing already.

    got it, thanks

  • Any recommended solution for AdBlocking on Android?

    • Install firefox and you use ublock origin addon just like on PC.

      • Does your suggestion take care of ads in just the browser, or apps too?

        • Just browser obviously.

    • Adguard is probably the best option. Works like this adblock app on iOS.

However because it is so effective, blocking ads system wide, you need to download the apk from the vendor website, banned from the store. Google is all about advertising let's not forget.

Roumors are Apple will be doing the same soon, probably not happy on losing the app ad revenue.

      • Adguard is a massive suck on battery to the devices I've installed it on. Recently tried Adhell for the Samsung KNOX phones and works well without being very battery intensive. Use that one if you have a mid to high end Samsung that supports KNOX.

    • I use AdFree. My device is rooted as I think yours needs to be to modify the /etc/hosts file to block ads. Regarding @bchiiu, I don't think AdFree is much of a battery drain.

    • For in-browser ads, use Opera web browser. Or you can download adblock browser as well. You won't find it on play store (for obvious reasons) but you can download (and donate to their cause) from adblockplus.org.

If you're on a rooted device you can use AdAway.

      • +1, adaway is amazing for rooted devices

Comes free with ads, Nothing is free.

    • -1

You can use this app to block them…

      • Yeah but its free, Why all of a sudden would it be free?

        • -1

Because it can no longer be updated

        • It has also been free before…

  • +4

Warning to people who think this will be useful: it appears to be going free because Apple doesn't like ad blocking apps, and will be restricting its functionality.

violates section 4.2 of the App Store Review Guidelines, which dictates that apps must be useful, unique, and "app-like."

Wow… That means that 99% of all iOS apps will be rejected in future !!!

Apple doesn't like ad blocking apps that block ads in other apps. I think they want to have ad blocking apps just for Safari.

I've downloaded a whole heap of them because I hate ads. I'm wondering what will happen with iOS 11. Will they keep working or not?

    bonus !!!!

Wow. Easy to use. And works well.

    Thanks OP

    • And works well

      Not for long though…

      • +1

Apple isn't restricting ad-blocking in Safari, just apps, particularly its pending News. For most people, this is still acceptable.

  • Adding exceptions is BS, otherwise works ok

I downloaded this free ages ago, I wonder when they started charging for it šŸ¤”.

  • Requires iOS 10.0 or later.

  • It's $1.49 again…. It just changed as I was about to install it (the error was "this item is being modified. Please try again later") šŸ˜¢

  • Expired?

  • For Android I use Ghostery Browser.
It blocks all trackers and spyware. And I found that if I go into Settings, then Ghostery tab, then select 'Tracker Blocking Options - Block Everything', then it blocks all ads as well.
Best damn Android browser that blocks junk, ads, you name it!

  • Mine says "99c, was Free" Lol
