Theirs is ~$155 ($1814) more expensive but for the excellent service, food and roomy seats I'd pay for it. Plus you get 30kg luggage in economy for this offer. All fees are included.
At the end of the day you should always stick with the airline alliance you intend to collect miles.
You will earn like 20x more points via Singapore than you will via Velocity.
I flew across the pacific on Velocity and onto NYC, got 4300 points. Flew Qantas and would have got 25000 points.
Got to be careful as some fare classes don't earn points - especially with Singapore airlines and some other cheapies… You don't get Velocity points on deep discounted Ethihad fares…

Have a look direct on the Etihad website, you could find something there or try the Bestflights website.
For late Jan have a look at Emirates, from Brisbane to Europe from 1.2.11 to 31.5.11 for 1729.— (offer from Bestflights at 28.9.10).

Just went on a trip with Etihad from Sydney to Paris and the service was perfect. I would recommend this airline.
