Why choose iDisplay over hardware display?

Your iPad, iPad Pro, iPhone and iPod touch can be your secondary display.
Works with both Mac and Windows computers.
iDisplay lets you interact with your additional display: move objects, draw, control playback.
Pan and zoom your desktop right on iOS device.
Easily switch between portrait and landscape screen orientations: simply rotate your device and it will adjust automatically.
Normal and double resolution modes for Retina displays.
Customize display settings for each device you use as your secondary display, iDisplay will remember your preferences.
Work with Excel, Word, Power Point and other apps and have all desktop features available on your iPad or iPhone.

On macOS you can choose one of the following iDisplay modes:
Use iDisplay as a regular secondary display: gives you more screen space for everything you have to keep your eye on.
Mirror image from main display on your iPad / iPhone: comes in handy when you need to share your desktop with your audience. Keep in mind that iDisplay allows to connect multiple devices to one Mac! Yes, lots of them! Many colleges use iDisplay.

On Windows, iDisplay can be used as a regular secondary display.

  • Nice find

Just installed on my Mac and so for so good

  • It's free and all, but most ratings are 1 star and leave a lot to be desired.

  • Chrome remote desktop is much, much better.

  • +1

I use duet. Paid $15 for it, great app.

Can't comment on this one - but it seems like it's the same functionality.

    • that sounds like a good deal, currently costs $22.99.

    • +1

This is the same. I grabbed it just so I have both as an option.

    Second duet. Much better!

Third duet. Works great, well reviewed. Got it here at half price. Think it's 25% off at the moment

  • Would love to get more feedback on this app from you guys

  • Was looking for exactly this! Thanks

    Dammit… I just bought Duet for $15 !!!!

    • log in and request a refund. i did it after i found out they want to charge you $28 a year to use the pencil for photoshop (literally the only reason i bought the app) what a joke

  • +2

Lucky I didn't shell out any money for Duet yet :P, so this is a great find.

  • Thanks OP, this works a treat and I have Duet installed too, but like the convenience of iDisplay with its wireless connectivity unlike Duet which uses a cable….

    • Yeah, I love duet but one issue I have is that when I am away from a power socket, cable connection means that my MacBook with be always charging my iPad (killing my MacBook battery)

  • thanks OP

  • +1

Haven't used duet, but tried this. Connected super easy with mac both over wifi and usb.. Nowhere near the advertised 60fps for me though. More like ~15fps. Can't complain being free though! Thanks op!

  • Will give it a run. Thanks OP. Thanks also to the people for the Duet recommendations.

  • Saw the review which only got 2/5, but can't complain when it is FREE!! :D

  • Got it. Nice find.

  • Thanks Op.

I want the reverse. I remember being able to access my iPhone remotely, was this because it was jail broken or did there used to be a partial Remote Desktop like app that I could remote in to my iPhone and send messages, ect?

  • nice app thanks op

  • Can any one still see the desktop icons once accessing through iPhone?

I've got an iPhone and a Windows PC. When I've downloaded the Windows PC application installer, my antivirus (Symantec) has quarantined it.

  • doesn't work on my work setup, installed the local client, via USB and the app but just sits there trying to connect. perhaps it also needs to be on the same network (which it isn't, no BYOD at my office)

Duet works on the same setup perfectly.

    • Same issue but after I rebooted my Mac, it worked.

  • I usually use TwomonUSB, mostly because it supports my ancient iPad. But also because it runs on Mac and Windows and supports Android tablets as well. Website http://www.easynlight.com/en/twomonusb/

But I'll grab this anyway thanks!

    Just tried it.

It's absolute rubbish compared to Duet.

Nowhere near as clear and lags quite a bit… Better than nothing but paying $15 for Duet is much better value than using this for free.

    • how is $15 better value then $0 if you think it is better than nothing.

Obviously if you thought you would have to pay to use this app its a different story. Otherwise you can't get better value then free mate.

      • how is $15 better value then $0

because there is no comparison in the difference in quality. Spending the $15 is more than worth it if you need the extra screen.

        • value is how much you get per $ spent.
          I'm not talking about worth.

        • @Gimli:

value is how much you get per $ spent.

you have a very limited understating of 'value' then…

          value ˈvaljuː noun
          1. the regard that something is held to deserve; the importance, worth, or usefulness of something.

        • @jv: but here we are talking about value relative to price.

        • @Gimli:

but here we are talking about value relative to price.

          you are, not we…

        • @jv: but if you are comparing value of two items you have to take the price into account, mate.
          its common sense.
i apologise for assuming you would follow common sense

        • @Gimli:

comparing value of two items you have to take the price into account

Price is only one component of value…

After using both products, there is no comparison in quality.

$15 for Duet, is better value than $0 for iDisplay.

        • @jv:

ok is you say so JV

          you're a funny guy

  • on Iphone: Connection available. Trying to connect, it says "connection not allowed"

    Anyone having similar issues?
