I needed a spare battery for a camera I bought on ebay with the recent 15% off and this was the cheapest new genuine I could find. I don't know how long the battery will be at this price.

  • It's this a good deal?

  • Btw, AFAIK it has been at that price since about end Nov'16

    • Where has it been at that price. At Videopro? Its between 85 and 90 at the likes of Ted's, George's, DigitalCamera Warehouse, Camera House etc. I've been weighing up buying one of these or a generic (Jupio, Inca etc) but will prob go for this now. Prob get Georges to price match as they're nearby and I'm going on holiday in a few days. Thanks OP.

      • @belbo, Yes at Videopro

  • paid $55 delivered from Ebay in Dec 16
that was new from a store btw

    • Link or it didn't happen.

  • Bought this last month at that same price as well, and yes they're the cheapest for LP-E6N. If you don't mind LP-E6 sometimes you can get it for <70.

    • Diff between N and non-N version?

      • 3% (1865 vs 1800), and possibly added security features for counterfeiting prevention.

        • So basically a bigger price tag for maybe three extra shots per charge? No thanks.

  • Bought for $75 at Georges. You can do a price-match url link and make an offer on their website. I offered 75, they may have taken less, who knows. They recommend the Jupio batteries that they stock and say they all use them - they come with a 3-year warranty vs the Canon's 2 (the store will just do an over the counter replacement if there is no evident physical damage) and they are higher capacity than the E6N (2000 vs ~1860) - but they retail for $79. I just went with my gut and the brand - and got the Canon despite Jupio's longer warranty and higher capacity.

    • +1

In my experience 3rd party batteries capacity are overrated. 2000 means about 1000 (or less) in comparison to Canon's 1860. So unless it's less than 1/2 Canon's price get the genuine one.

  • It's $75.65 direct from canon. Free delivery too. I ordered and it came in 2 days. https://store.canon.com.au/battery-pack-lp-e6n.html

    • Says $89 on my screen but good on you for getting it cheaper.

  • Man I ordered this two weeks ago. They said hey had stock, but took a week before I chased them up and nope, they didn't have any.
They ended up trying to get a courier to rush it to me, but then the courier delivered it to the wrong address.
I ended up buying another one from CameraWarehouse for $100 because I was desperate for a backup.
    Avoiding Videopro now.

  • The one I got at Georges was flat out of the box - although I'm pretty sure the one that came with the camera was also basically flat. Anyone know if this is normal - and if so, if there is a reason why they are not shipped charged?

    • Every battery I've bought for my 80d has been flat and that includes generic and 2nd hand original and this battery. I'm only going to buy originals from now on.

      • Good to know - Thanks. Was just looking at my camera manual (6D). It says "Upon purchase the battery is not fully charged" - which could mean anywhere between nearly full and nearly empty. Out of interest - why are you only going to buy originals from now on (ie what negatives experiences have you had with the third party ones).

        • I bought a used original on ebay from china for around $23 and according to my camera it has 1 red bar of life left. So not sure how many goes I will get with that.

While I was waiting for the videopro battery to come I bought two generics for $27 del from Sydney on ebay. They wouldn't charge on my 80d charger.

They did charge on a used canon charger I bought from the same seller in China I got the used battery from. The $23 for the used charger seems worth it atm.

I bought a cheap generic usb charger for the generic batteries but it's cheap and will probably take days to charge a battery. The generic batteries aren't chipped so they dont show how much charge is in them, shows up as blank.

Yh so after that I'm a bit battery and chargered out. Though I wouldn't mind getting a grip to pack 6 enloops in ;)

I wouldve been better off not buying the 3 extra batteries and paying a bit more to have 2 spare new originals from this deal. Oh well something about buying junk and paying twice.

        • @besmirched: Not a good experience. Thanks for the info mate.
