Wii - Rechargable Batteries/Charging Dock?

Hi all,

After the rubbish experience of the generic Quad Induction Chargers from COTD (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/30345), I'm still looking for something new to recharge the Wii remotes without having to continually buy new AA batteries. I saw a Bluetek Quad Charger at EB Games the other day, but I have no idea how well it works and I've seen a couple of other ones too. I've also seen the Energizer Induction ones and I'd assume they'd charge much better than the COTD generic ones. Anyone have experience with any specific chargers/rechargable batteries? Any particular ones you would recommend and any deals around now?

Thanks in advance!

edit: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NEW-QUAD-CHARGING-CHARGER-DOCK-STATIO… - hmm just found this, why the hell is it so cheap?!
The other ones here: http://shop.ebay.com.au/i.html?_kw=quad&_kw=charger
are about $35 on average.

Awhile ago we bought one of these http://www.okmart.com.au/energizer-easy-aa-aaa-bettery-charg… from I think it was Harvey Norman in one of their clearance bins, it cost about $20 or so? It came with 2 (or 4? can't remember) batteries inside it I think as well. We've never had any problems with them. Since we needed more batteries, we just purchased some more rechargeable ones that were the same.

When we first got our Wii, we got one of those el-cheapo brand rechargeable Wii remotes and a third party recharger docking station and it never worked, so thought it would be better to just get the rechargeable batteries.

There seems to be a few different kinds of recharger around for energizer, I found a 4 pack of the batteries on the Big W site for about $20. I think the 2450mH may be more than what you need them for. Looks like there's a tonne on ebay as well.

    • Yea I always see different kinds of Energizer chargers. How long have you had yours for and how long does it take to charge? It would be annoying having to take the silicon cases out each time, but of course, if it works well then I guess that's what matters most. The fact that the induction pad sold on COTD was advertised like that made it sound great (the fact you didn't need to take it out of the silicon case). I suppose for rechargeable batteries, the good thing is you can use it for other things too whereas obviously if you buy a dedicated wii remote charger, it's only for a wii remote.

I'd also like to ask, with the energizer rechargers, are you able to recharge other rechargeable batteries of a different brand? I'm looking for one that could possibly recharge 9V batteries too (I use it for a built-in guitar tuner)

      • Sorry it's taken me so long to reply. We've had it prob about a year or so, to be honest I don't know how long it takes, it's a number of hours though, I've seen a few that do it in a shorter amount of time. From the shape of the charger I don't think you can charge any other type of batteries in it, it only has the grooves in it for the AA's

If you haven't picked up anything yet, on 1-day.com.au there is a pack of duracell ones for cheap

  • the ones on ebay are really cheap because the battery inside is tiny. i think my cheap ones are around 600mAh total, whereas using 2xAA NiMH batteries ends up being something like 2x2400mAh; pretty much lasts 8 times longer.
