Shantae is this month's DLC Character, same as Gunvolt and Ekoro free for the first 2 weeks, since I got them I'm not 100% sure what the price is after the first 2 weeks but I'm guessing $2.60 since it is 1.99USD. Shovel Knight is next month's release.
On Switch you can get it without owning the game (obviously you need the game to use it), however on New 3DS you have to own the game.
Awwww what? I didn't know the other two guys were free at launch. Seemed kind of odd that the third one, Shantae, was and the other two weren't but this explains it.
Bummer I missed out on Gunvolt, could care less about Ekoro.
Knowing this I will definitely keep my eye out for Shovel Knight in the future.
At launch all I bought was the Switch itself and Fast RMX. This was the first game I bought after it and it's a ripper, any excuse to jump back in.
Didn't know those were free, damn!

I tried the Blaster Master Zero demo and didn't get into it, but I really enjoyed Shovel Knight and Shantae… so this might have convinced me to buy BMZ.
