S26 Gold Toddler $12.50 at Woolworths Corowa, VIC

120

Saw this in the Corowa Woolworths store last night. $12.50 for a tin of baby formula. Not sure if it is national, so please check your local store if it is the same.

it's sad that there are limits on how much baby food you can buy (if you can even buy any at all) in Australia in 2017 because of the Chinese trying to profit from it. Hey, welcome to the lucky country.

    • This comment is so old…

I go and buy formula with my two babies. And i dare they tell me i cant buy more than 2. Works every time.

    • I imagine the initial shortage would be over by now. The manufacturers/retailers should have the commonsense to increase supply accordingly, especially since it has been going on for years.

"So here we are two years later and it seems nothing has changed — and local mums and dads are still struggling to get their hands on the formula tins of formula for their little ones."

I have been buying formula (top end) for 2 years now. Only once I was not able to find it. I live next to Box Hill in VIC which is Chinese central.

It's very easy to blame the Chinese, I have more problems buying Coke Zero than I do formula. Who can I blame for that? :-)

Upper north shore in Sydney. I do a 8pm-11:59pm trip to Macquarie, Chatswood, Lindfield, Gordon, Turramurra scout around. It normally takes me visits to 8 supermarkets and four chemists before I find the brand of milk that we normally use.

I have seen groups of people do the 4 tins at a time at Gordon, then fill up their boot of the car. There are usually 4 or 5 adults doing the run. I don't think they speak English. They just hand the e-gift card to the cashier and he/she punches the code and pin in for them… The local IGA sometimes has milk, but it's $10 more than Colesworth…

If I find it, I buy the maximum amount and do the same run around two weeks before we run out. We go through a tin a week. Usually I try two places a night and takes me 4-5 visits before I can find it. Then I have a two week break, then back to the cycle.

I also try the Woollies and Coles home delivery and do the 4 tins + other groceries. I end up getting $100+ back each time. Sometimes the guy just drops a box of nappies and everything else was out-of-stock. Maybe one order out of five gets tinned milk delivered.

Our baby stops drinking milk, or drinks half his recommended amount if it's not the brand he likes and he's stopped putting on weight using alternative brands. :(

You've got no idea bro, if this is the highly in demand brand they won't be doing any discount at all. See if you can spot any A2 or Aptamil formula from stage 2 onwards in any supermarket
