I don't think those things have ever sold at the RRP.

With the look at that packaging I wouldn't buy at the "discounted" price.

  • You guys seem to have some decent equipment on your site, but end up flogging the cheap stuff here.

I think most people need a little more convincing to buy those headphones, the inclusion of some specs would help?

    • The specs are indeed on the product pages (thanks @shawn_low).
Just wanted to adhere to OzBargain's 2 to 4 sentence description suggestion on the submission page. Although the majority of entries do seem to have way more than that.

I did add some basic info on the each headphone though based on your feedback.

      • Thanks :) - it makes it easier for people to decide if this is of any interest to them.

  • Specs are on the product itself I believe. Click on website link and then on products.

  • Product summary for the AKG Acoustics K 301 Xtra

The goodThe good: Over-the-ear headphones; sturdy, pro-style construction; fine bass; very comfortable.

The badThe bad: Too much bass for some listeners; large size and excessively long cable may frustrate portable users.

The bottom lineThe bottom line: AKG Acoustic's pro-style K301 Xtra headphones deliver solid, low-end bass.

      thats in 2004… its a 6-year-old review

      • +2

I don't get it… does that somehow make it invalid?

KOSS makes headphones that sound exactly the same as when they were first released something like 35 years ago… the reviews back then still apply now.

        • not really technology evolves, so something that was cheap and good 10 years ago may no longer be good for the price in todays standards, that said, the best sound quality hasn't got much better, but cheap speakers are defiantly catching up to good speakers.

so basically something 6 years old may not be as good as something for the same price today…

  • I've got a pair of AKG 271s and they are fantastic.

Tempted to get a pair - is store pickup from the Spencer St store?

    • Yes pick up is available from our store on Spencer St.

      • Nice one.. have ordered and will pick up on Monday :)

  • AKG is a top brand for head gear. Xtra refers to extra bass so it's not really fair to call them too bassy. That'll be like calling tomato sauce too tomato-ey.

  • "High End" AKG headphone sale? heh.

  • I got excited because I thought I saw k701.

Now if you have that at a good price I'll take one.

    • lol same here!

    • :D I got some AKG k702s for $250 a few months ago from a local business that went bankrupt and was liquidating - best deal ever swoons

    k-71 review….

The good: Sleekly styled on-ear headphones; sounds swell with portables; nice bass; lively sound.
The bad: The extralong cable must be folded up for portable use.

  • If I could get some K240's at that sorta price. You'd have me.

  • Well. Turns out they didn't have enough stock lots of people who made orders online will now miss out.

    • But guess what? You'll still be on their mailing list, no doubt :)

      • Don't worry @YesPleaseThankYou I can assure you we don't do that kind of a thing.

It is old stock which we had limited quantities of (we did warn that stocks would run out quick). We tried sourcing it from our AKG distributor even if it meant at a loss, but they didn't have any left either.
It was a genuine clearance sale which achieved its purpose.

The other two models are still available though :)

        • The problem is selling stock that you don't have. Nobody likes it. I am glad you feel like it achieved your purpose, but at what stake. I would never deal with them online again, and would only do so in store and it would have to be a very good price.

  • I would be VERY wary of any future offers from these guys, I made my order on Friday, was told by the rep pick up would be fine, payment was made, went in today and they hadn't put any aside. Totally soaked from the rain to boot.

Would it kill them to confirm stock before charging our cards? Or to LET US KNOW when they've sold out and the order can't be filled?

To top it off they left me waiting around for a good 10 minutes JUST to tell me that a refund would be issued later, not today.
