    Link?

  • Store?

  • Thanks for posting the deal and welcome! "Store in title" is always a good way to go!

  • Has anyone got this card and able to provide a review?

Im still on a GTX660 so this looks like a logical upgrade for the money

I have one model up from this, the GTX1070 but considered this when I was replacing my 560ti. The 1060 will be leaps and bounds ahead of your old card, definitely a worthy upgrade. Honestly a lot of the choice should come down to what resolution and refresh rate you plan to play it, and what CPU you would be pairing it with. But as a general consideration this is a good card.

AUD$366.39 delivered by World EggSaver Express (2-3 Business Days)

Unless someone yells at me to stop i'm gonna press "buy" shortly.

      • +1

it's a good buy. Price hikes means this card has a street price of close to $400. sometimes more.

    • +1

hmm - it changed when i bought it

  • When did Newegg start an Australian store?

    • +2

They didn't. It's just in AUD.

      • +2

If only it were just that.

Unfortunately, it's a subset of their products, and priced independently in AUD. Much less exciting than if they could just charge us in AUD and ship anything from the store…

  • Is the 1060 a worthy upgrade from 7970?

    • FWIW, I had an RX 380 which is about 10 percent faster than 7970, upgraded to GTX 1060 and thought it was worth it.

if your games still run comfortably at 1080p and you still have a 60hz display, you might not see a huge big benefit. I run a 144hz display which makes the upgrade more noticeable.

There is a huge leap in power / efficiency going from the old process nodes to 14nm.

    • I'm in the same boat, thing is, my card still serves me well, so when I upgrade I want something more. I'd probably be more interested in 1070 or Vega.

7970 was a top of the line card at it's release, 1060 is below 1070, 1080, 1080Ti and the upcoming Vega line.

    • +2

I'd personally look at a 1070 if you're running anything above 1080p. If you only run 1080p then the 1060 is a good upgrade.

Thanks, good price and first purchase from Newegg, hope it goes well.

  • Hey all, how would this compare to my 4GB EVGA 680 for BF1?

    • Edit:

Im in the same boat. Userbenchmark says 57% faster

  • +2

    Must.hold.out.for.vega

I must admit im getting pretty bored of saying this. If the normal versions arent released soon im defo going team green

    • My red palms are sweaty… green is lookijg so tempting.

      • +2

I believe they are getting announced at the end of this month. The question is when will they be available for 'easy' purchase at a decent price.

        • +1

From my research the Vega series will be on the higher end of the spectrum, and the price will reflect that.

        • @Polesworth: Just sold my house and I should transfer all the funds to my new house but I might keep enough to buy a Vega card and jump from Crossfire 7950s. Excited.

    • You may as well keep on waiting at this rate. I dont trust AMD to deliver on their promises anymore.

  • what happens with warranty with these things if it is DOA or something goes wrong after a few weeks or months?

    • For MSI, they provide a 3 year manufacturers warranty and Newegg provides a 30 day money back guarantee

      • would that be local Aussie warranty even if the card was bought overseas?

  • Good for mining?

    • +1

Can get 23MH/s from Ethereum on 1060s.

      • That's almost as good as a 1070. Better get on this deal quick before the miners snap them up

        • ehh not really. 29-30MH/s on a 1070.

        • The power differentials make getting 1060's pretty pointless for a professional miner.

        • @dfaktz: Best bang for buck card out there.

        • @iRMonkey: really ? i thought the AMD cards are all the rage due to lower power usage?

        • Well mine is running at 25-26MH/s so I'm just going off my experience

  • I got the MSI gaming X 3gb for 326$. How does it compare to this deal? Price and performance wise?

    • +1

You lose roughly 10 % performance as there is a 10 percent reduction on the core count.

6GB variant does 4.4 TFLOPs while the 3GB variant does 3.9 TFLOPs

      • Whats the basic diference between this model and the gaming X model? Do u know?

        • The difference is mostly in the package and cooling solution — mainly the fan design.

I think the Gaming X has the "best" cooler that MSI provides (they call it Twin frozr or whatever the heck it was), as the fan has more blades, but the difference is probably pretty negligible. Plus you get pretty RGB lights that you can control.

        • +1

@scrimshaw: Nope, theres a triple fan Trifrozr and water cooling models after that … Seahawk? Is that MSI's dumb name for it lel…

This generation seems pretty much pointless going for water cooling and most air cooling models seem to overclock to 1900 - 2000 anyway including dual fans like this one. Water coolng seems to add a paltry 1 or 2 hundred Mhz to the 2000 you may achieve with air cooling.

        • @scrimshaw: I decided to spend a bit more to get the EVGA SC 1060 6GB for $387.5 (the tiny one that can probably fit in any towers). Looks like a solid card, considering that I missed out on this last ebay promo, but lowest price record for this I guess was $320ish. Will sell the MSI card that I bought though, which is not even shipped out yet. 6GB actually makes me feel safer for several years later without any doubts. Cheers guys.

  • can you play Minecraft in 4k with this card

    • Gotta get those high resolution pixels yo

  • +1

    Thanks OP bought 2

    • +1

      Same :)

What's your plans? Sell one to offset the cost of the other, start mining or going SLI ?

      • I think the Gtx 1060s do not support sli.

      • Continue mining just started with my 1070 but these are far more cost effective to run on my old board. Just upgraded to Ryzen and a 1070 but want to use that for gaming. SLI is not supported.

  • (profanity) you ozbargain

  • 1060 and 1080 sale today, but no 1070 :(

  • Can anyone recommend a good bang for buck CPU + Motherboard to pair with this card?

I need a new PC for gaming, don't play anything really intense (Heroes of the storms, Battlefield 1) but want something to last me the next couple of years.

    Thank you in advance

    • Ryzen 5 with the B350 chipset is a very good budget build

      • +3

To be more specific, a Ryzen 5 1600 (not X).

  • Thank you OP! Managed to nab one shortly before it ran out of stock. Shame customers were limited to 1 by then, definitely would've grabbed 2 if I allowed to.
