Yep wouldn't touch them with a 10 foot pole… They developed a great reputation and then wrecked it to save $$$ and put a substantial amount of dogs/cats at risk by using low cost ingredients
Agree, my dog was great on it as a puppy and his first bag of adult food he was fine… then developed skin allergies and was vomiting once a week on the adult food, even the 'grain free' versions.
Sadly that's what happened when companies get bought out by big corporation (Masterpet in this case), profits come first.

I know, made the mistake of not getting insurance when my puppy fell from the 5th story balcony. But my dog loves it and doesn't seem to have any problems. Everyone dog has a different reaction to dog food. But yeah Blackhawk is having issues.

they said it was most probably a change of ingredients that were poor quality and affected some dogs.
my dog was vomiting, drinking stupid amounts of water and had rapid weight gain. really disappointing and sad to see a loved pet go through such pain/discomfort.
Terrible. I am glad I came across this as I was considering buying for my dog. You spend more on premium petfood hoping to help you dog not make it sick!
I don't wish to discourage the use of any product, however, I would exercise extreme caution towards brands like Black Hawk.
Sometimes regular discounts that are being offered can show the markups/true cost of ingredients used.
As per other people's observations, the site is really slow so you need to be patient and don't click randomly or try to reload - just wait and it does eventually load.

Guys can you please recommend brand of dog food to get based on your experiences only? I was going to get Black Hawk but the above opinions are swaying me away from it.
Canidae, Taste of the Wild, Earthborn Holistic and Ivory Coat. Ivory Coat if you want to stay purely Australian. My biggest tip: GRAIN FREE. What a lot of people miscalculate is grain food requires you to feed more to your dog. For example, Black Hawk grain food required around 200-250g, whereas a grain free recommends 100-150g. Which is why grain free bags are usually 10-13kg vs 20kg.
Those four brands I've personally used, all equally good.
None of those brands seem to be available on Petbarn unfortunately and I need something that I will be able to use long term.
Well you need to weigh up if you're looking for the best pet food, or the best priced pet food. I get my food on special from other online pet stores and usually pay around $80 a bag. If you do go with Black Hawk, get the grain free.
Wellness, especially the Core range, as well as Holistic Select is just as good as those brands mentioned and are available at Petbarn.
Agree with Elysiar. I used Nutro and Optimum for my Samoyed which were ok. After using Taste of the wild, I would definitely recommend to everyone. It's a great product.
I also tried going to Black Hawk (grain) after feeding the boy Taste of the Wild and he had a very bad reaction to it. (Non stop pooping). I switched him back to Taste of the Wild a week later and he was in much better condition.
Don't know what exactly it was with the Black Hawk, but would never go back to grain foods again.
I moved my Lab from supercoat+somecolesshitthewifebuys to Blackhawk recently, all fine. Mix it in slowly.
Otherwise Ivory Coat seems to be the other recommended brand.

Anyone having trouble with click and collect? I get a message that says 'Your order is not available for collection from one of our stores.'
I removed certain items from my order, I think Pet Barn are blocking the code from being used on specific items or those items are out of stock and the website isn't informing you of that. Once you remove those items, you can check out properly.
Some items arent available at some stores for some reason. I went to west ryde and they had royal canin, advance and proplan but werent available for click and collect on the website. Check by having two different browsers open

I've only ever had that message when trying to order 1000+ cans of dog food, shipping options appeared when I deleted down to 250ish.
Have you used petbarn before? If your ordering normal qualitys, Ignore the estimate shipping at the bottom and try to check out see if there's options the second page, see if that works
Yes had that problem. One item was causing the problem that wasn't in stock. Removed it then it worked.
I'm trying to order 2 large foods, 1 nexgard and 1 heartgard. when i have the 2 foods in cart, shipping works; it also works when i have nexgard and heartgard only. but it wont work if i have any of the 3 or 4 in cart… might have to do two orders and pay for shipment twice…
Don't buy nexgard and heartgard on Petbarn. Total ripoff. Use budgetpetproducts or at least price match in store
